@@BeataMaxx No worries. Hope you are well. I love all your awesome mixes. You not done any recently. Hope you do more. I was playing your garage music one at my work place couple of days ago 🔥
I would have launched this station in stereo on digital satellite via an Astra 2G Pan European beam transponder so everyone across the continent, as well as in the UK, can hear it too.
Of course, but it has changed a lot. I just don't like it when people bash the station now. I don't listen to it but they are trying to appeal to a younger audience
I wouldn't know but if i was picking music for the station i would still believe in mixed music for the youth and it could be an established artist or someone new, when i see the playlist every few weeks it seems mixed enough to me even if some say not the best music choices. What else can they do?
wpaulvandyk I think there should be more of a variety as it's starting to sound very much like other commercial stations. I like the promotion for unknown artists but I think their everyday music should be changed to be more diverse rather than a lot of the same and maybe even the presenters being able to play some of their choice!
Maybe but unlike commercial stations they will support many artists with singles even if they are not hits. Most commercial stations only play hits so sometimes you hear 3 or 4 in a row until song 5 isn't so big and they don't play it or they play the first or 2nd hit only. Just as well they don't play older music much or that would end up being same old maybe
So many great DJs missing from the list. I can understand the lack of Saville, but DLT? Not to mention Alexis Korner, Mike Raven, Adrian Juste, erm Jonathan King... Andy Peebles, Richard Skinner, Stuart Henry...
Quite a few missed out 1. Paul Burnett 2. DLT 3. Steve Wright 4. Adrian John 5. Bruno Brookes 6. Terry Wogan 7. Jimmy Young 8. Chris Evans 9. Adrian Juste 10. Pat sharp
What about Steve Wright, Steve Wright in the Afternoon is probably the biggest show to have been on radio 1 it had massive audiences at that time, and it is one of the longest running shows at 12 years Steve Wright was on radio 1 a total of 15 yeas , so why not include him.
Really looking forward to some Mark & Lard. Radcliffe is in the picture so I assume that will happen, even if it's just a replay of one of their old afternoon shows. Mark is more inclined to talk about the old days, sadly Lard isn't. I'd love them to do a one off show for Radio 1's 50th. I know the BBC archives are vast but if anyone from Radio 1 is seeing this, I have a stash of old Mark & Lard afternoon shows that I'd be happy to contribute. A lot were recorded from DAB so are in good quality.
Yes all the legends forgotten. There's lots i could name. Scott mills has been there forever and what about Greg James he's popular. Should just do all the presenters. from each decade in there own videos.
All of the above had shows on Radio 1 Vintage. Brookes had two in fact with the UK Top 40 and a best of Bruno and Liz (one of R1s best ever breakfast shows) special.
Andy Clegg I think Mark & Lard will be on, even if it's just a replay of one of their old shows. Mark is in the video, and remember it was officially always down as 'The Mark Radcliffe Show'.
Bringing classic DJs back but not bringing Chris moyles back? We all know BBC hates him but he is part of the history and should be back for a one of show like the rest!
Mary Anne Hobbs gets a quick mention but a lot of DJ's left out of that roll call. I'll start the list off. Pat Sharp, Paul Mc Kenna, the Rankin' Miss P, Dixie Peach, Dave Lee Travis, Greg James, JK and Joel, Adrian John, Judge Jules, Richard Skinner, Wes Butters, B Traits, Chris Evans, DJ Spoony, Lynn Parsons, Fabio and Grooverider, Alice Levine, Peter Powell....
Steve Wright - radio 2 Mark goodier - greatest hits radio Simon Mayo - greatest hits radio Janice long - greatest hits radio Tony Blackburn - radio 2 Gary Davies - radio 2
Whoever mixed this deserves some sort of award....
Tim Mills it was mixed by beat a Maxx 👍
@@simonsaysrewind thanks for the credit :-)
Thanks, I won a New York radio award for it so it worked out ok :-)

@@simonsaysrewind thanks, ha cool! yep you're right, not done one since late last year, for 1Xtra. Gonna be putting new stuff out very soon though!
I remember listening to R1 back in the 80s and going to see the road shows at Cleethorpes great times 😊
FABtastic job mate 👍👍👍👍👍
Superbly mixed - great teaser for what promises to be a great 50 hour event.
Love the mashup of jingles and music samples
I would have launched this station in stereo on digital satellite via an Astra 2G Pan European beam transponder so everyone across the continent, as well as in the UK, can hear it too.
The best times to be listening and being part off the radio scene, Radio 1, Capital 194 in London etc Great years.
It's amazing to see how far Radio 1 has come
Of course, but it has changed a lot. I just don't like it when people bash the station now. I don't listen to it but they are trying to appeal to a younger audience
wpaulvandyk I think they are doing well now but their music choices aren't very good as a whole

1:07 - remember when Radio One played "more rock than you can handle"?? TV play that rock n' roll!
What about Steve Wright, Steve Wright in the Afternoon is probably the biggest show to have been on radio 1 it had massive audiences at that time, and it is one of the longest running shows at 12 years Steve Wright was on radio 1 a total of 15 yeas , so why not include him.
Great Mix.
Oh and the legendary Roger Scott. If there was a DJ's DJ he was surely it. The Saturday Sequence was an amazing show.
Don't think Roger Scott was on Radio One, he was a Capital Radio jock
Roger Scott was a Radio 1 DJ from 1988 until his death in 1989.

congratulation, and thanks :)
Paul Burnett? Steve Wright? Scott Mills?
Lee Moulsdale yes totally agree! Where are they!!!
Yes all the legends forgotten. There's lots i could name. Scott mills has been there forever and what about Greg James he's popular. Should just do all the presenters. from each decade in there own videos.
Natalie H or just made the vide longer
Yes Paul Burnett, why is he never mentioned...i grew up in the late 70s listening to Radio 1 and Paul was one of my favourite DJs
No Steve Wright, Bruno Brookes, Paul Burnett? Did a 15 year old on work experience put this together?
paul burnett loved him
All of the above had shows on Radio 1 Vintage. Brookes had two in fact with the UK Top 40 and a best of Bruno and Liz (one of R1s best ever breakfast shows) special.
СУПЕРРРР!!!
Missing on here Bruno Brookes Steve Wright Johnnie Walker & Phillip Schofield
johnnie walker is there 0.33
Almost sounds like something I used to listen to.
I like to sometimes call radio 1 theme 1 remix and I like the part where it goes stop showing off in the 90's
Annie Mac?
Wow, me gusto
Where's Steve Wright and Chris Evans?
Where is Steve Wright he started out on radio one as far as remember
HELLOOOO BBC CHANNEL
Why not Mark And Lard.
there were a pair . . . . bigggiddiiggybong
Andy Clegg I think Mark & Lard will be on, even if it's just a replay of one of their old shows. Mark is in the video, and remember it was officially always down as 'The Mark Radcliffe Show'.
Kool!😎
WOO HOO
Bringing classic DJs back but not bringing Chris moyles back? We all know BBC hates him but he is part of the history and should be back for a one of show like the rest!
Should bring him back along with Mcfly. Seen as he used to play their song every friday.
They've announced they are bringing him back for a show. He's also in the video.
woah
I'd assume Chris Evans is hated MORE by Radio 1.. or at least Matthew Bannister
Trisky you do know moyles is back on air. There's a phone app to listen to him, its called Radio X. Look for the app with the green X
I enjoyed that.. listing since Zoe Ball..
CHRIS MOYLES IS ON RADIO X!
GET THE RADIO X APP TO LISTEN!
Its the one with the green X
How do I listen the best of radio 1 over the last 50 years?
I think there will be a dedicated DAB station for it's anniversary - www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-40428295
no pic of judge jules
Came hoping to see Dan and Phil - at least there was a bit of toxic in there :D
Jimmy Young?.
Mary Anne Hobbs gets a quick mention but a lot of DJ's left out of that roll call. I'll start the list off. Grimmy the boss forever♡
Scott Mills?
GIlles Peterson?
Wow look at all those men! Nice to see how diverse radio 1 is :)
Maddy Comber Wow a huge issue for women right?
And Madeleine your problem being? Majority of women were listeners more then blokes
Back when they started broadcasting in 1967 they didn't know that the SJWS would happen in the 2010s
if people could stop shitting on Nick Grimshaw that'd be great he's done a wonderful job don't @ me
What ? Scott Mills is chopped liver ?
0:43
heyy
Radio 1 isn't the same anymore no wonder half of the population have switched off the new djs today are rubbish
Duncan Campbell
If only the legends hadn't been nailed down in their coffins...
If you want Tony Blackburn, listen to Radio 2. He's still on there.
Steve Wright - radio 2
Mark goodier - greatest hits radio
Simon Mayo - greatest hits radio
Janice long - greatest hits radio
Tony Blackburn - radio 2
Gary Davies - radio 2
Simon Salad Cream.
What happened to Jimmy Savile?
Dead and no reason to be included after what he has done so if people expect them i can't support such decision
well...enough heh
They'll soon change this and get Tim Westwood removed! I can see it happening 🙃
1967 to 2008 Radio 1 was THE best Radio station on the planet...now?
It is CRAP.
Agree total crap
Since Matthew Bannister came in along with twat Trevor Dann Radio 1 fell on it's arse
I'm glad they acknowledged Chris Moyles but then spoiled it when they showed Nick Grimshaw at the end.
Like him or not, he's only got to last another year and he'll be the second longest running Radio 1 Breakfast Show presenter ever.
They spoiled a video about the history of Radio 1 by showing their current breakfast presenter.. hmmm
TheLeoSale living in the past theo. There is nothing wrong whatsoever with grimmy as a presenter.
No they haven't, this is a step back down memory lane of all the breakfast presenters, without them Radio 1 wouldnt have Survive 50 years.
Oh come on Grimmy is crap, his figures prove it.
Should of at least showed Grimmy and Scott mills. They have been there like forever..
They did show Nick Grimshaw but they didn't show Scott Mills.
Just looked back at this. I meant Greg James.
Natalie H They are both still current Radio 1 DJ's. This is a chance for Radio 1 to reflect on it's past. Which a lot of the time ot fails to do.
No JIMMY SAVILLE !! You can't just wipe him off the face of the earth! Admitting what he did was very wrong, but he was still one of these djs.
loads missing in tributes, poor show bbc
Grimmy the boss forever♡
