“To see our flag unrolled..”, this song is one of my earliest memories of the music of the Wolfe Tones which was frequently played in my grandmothers house in the late 1980s.
This Siamsa Cois Laoi event was held on Sunday the 27th of July, 1980 at Pairc Ui Chaoimh, Cork, Ireland with an estimated crowd of 12,000 people frolicking in the soft rain. The Dubliners, Seán Ó Sé & Joan Baez were there as well.
It's not the famous "Sliabh na mBan". It's the Charles Kickham's "Slievenamon" . . . an entirely different song. Why does everyone (almost) get this wrong? Search for the Tadhg Maher version of the former!
I wish they played this when i went Toronto, was the 18.th march, they didn’t play paddy’s day, and too fucking right haha, but it was a guest list thing😊
What a voice, Tommy. The harmonies good too, though🇮🇪💚☘️

I think the vocals are taken from the Live Alive Oh album as the original maybe was lost or not great. No matter, still a great video of the Tones!

Yeah, this has been driving me mad tbh. Trying to find an actual version of Sliabh na mBan is difficult on youtube. It's a shame.
