It completely changed everything, and eventually sent me on a spiritual journey that continues to reveal amazing things. I pray all the best for you, John, as you travel this new path. Thanks for sharing this with the world, Tara. I've been a T6 para for over 22 years and have tried multiple methods for the bowel routine. I used the magic bullet for a while, but seemed to develop a resistance to it over time, so I finally just settled on the digi-stem method. I just found your channel, but look forward to checking it out. Thanks again, Tara, and God bless you! ❤

    I have been using the digital stimulation/manual evacuation technique for 20 years, and it's worked alright until recently.
    I have some degenerative spine issues that are wreaking havoc on me neurologicaly, including changing my bowel and bladder function. I can't really feel when I gotta go anymore, but at the same time, I start to experience autonomic dysreflexia symptoms as a result. So, I guess my sensation has diminished, but my sensitivity has increased. Happy 20-year chairiversary to me...
    I had no idea this existed. Do you ever have to worry about bowel damage or perforations when using this device or method?

    • @ParaTara
      @ParaTara  Год назад +8

      Nope I was told that isn’t really a concern with the amount of water being used! I’ve been using it for about 2 years and my bowel health is better than it was with digital stim!’

    When is the best time to do it ? How long does it take to fully evacuate after the evacuation starts?

    • @ParaTara
      @ParaTara  3 года назад +2

      You can do it anytime as long as you’re consistent, as you have to train your body when you want it to go. The entire process usually take 45 mins to an hour but it could take longer if you need to restart the process for any reason, such as needing to add more water to the bag because you drank the water the first time (from dehydration).

      @@frerisa7876 yes! And yes, the miralax both softens the stool and immediately stimulates your bowels to empty. I also take laxatives (not stool softeners) the night before doing my bowel routine which is 24 hours in advance

      @@ParaTara what kind of laxative you take the night before ? What would be the bowel movements like on Bristol stool scale?

    • @ParaTara
      @ParaTara  3 года назад +3

      @@frerisa7876 probably type 6 or 7 but keep in mind that mostly it dissolves inside the water so they’re not going to be a lot of solid stools you see at all. I take milk of magnesia (Phillips laxative tablets) the night before. I tried a different type when I couldn’t find the Phillips and my body didn’t like it so I had issues. I switched back to Phillips and my problems were gone so laxatives are important! If you’re having issues, consider switching laxatives to a very gentle one and maybe it’ll work better for your body! If you take a stronger laxative, it might stimulate your body to go before you are ready to do your bowel program. So it’s important to find something that works for you!

    Miralax takes time to go through your intestinal track in order to draw liquid into your track in order to make your poop softer not so hard. Taking laxatives is not a good idea to take regularly bc then your body will depend on them more an more hence having to take more an more in order to poop then eventually having to always rely on laxatives in order to poop then one day they won't work then you'll end up having to get a poop bag.

I didn't think it would really work but drinking only water does help. Have you ever tried lying in bed on your left side an using a suppository? That's how I was taught but that was 20 years ago an to catch the poop they had me use those little half circle tub basins that you spit in to like brush your teeth. The roundness of those wrap around your butt perfectly. When I was going to school an went to hang out with my bf after school I'd get home late an have to poop an shower. When the little basin filled up I'd grab another an so on till I was done. Put those to the side then get in my chair N before I took a shower flush all the poop an not at once then rinse the basins out good with hot water then fill sink up with hot soapy water. Let them soak while I was showering an some ppl might think this is absolutely gross but my mom was the one who did it but I'd put the basins in the dishwasher for them to get washed but I'd rather clean then by hand an then clorox wipe them

    I just recently started using a Peristeen after about 8 yrs after injury, i have to ask what difference do you notice adding miralax to the water bag? Did you do it with just water before that? And did the doc tell you to add miralax? Thanks in advance!
