As one of the members of PUBLIC looking for a solution, I am amazed at the people who struggle with politeness. If you don’t like his advice he’s just a click away. Or “I respectfully disagree with you.”. We are adults now. I know many of you learned some manners at one time. MBJ DIY is very gracious in his replies. KINDNESS FOLKS, KINDNESS!!!
Thank you oh white knight..
I haven’t read any negative reviews. I guess I just scroll those lol
Thank you sir, im just starting a pressure washing service and had a potential customer contact me this morning asking if i can remove rust stains. Your video is the first i came across and eco friendly. Thank you for your time in making this
cthulhu mons learn electricity and be an electrician
Literally the same thing I just did
The product Navy Jelly by 3m is the one and only. Brush on, 20-30min later rinse. WORKS!
Did this work? I was thinking of adding vinegar to a sprayer then pressure washing after it soaked a while.
His brush is also steel so that would help
You are an angel. I cancelled my appointment with a man that was going to use muriatic acid until I bothered to do the research about muriatic acid and what it does to concrete, brick and all masonry. Muriatic Acid basically DESTROYS concrete, brick and masonry work and should NEVER EVER be used at all. I was looking for something ecofriendly as I don't want to harm the birds, squirrels, rabbits, etc.........
God bless😇
We have to do this in the fall. My wife has flower planters on the front deck and after watering the draining water has brought out large brown stains and it’s now a big ugly mess. 🤦 Thanks for the video much appreciated. God bless from Canada 🇨🇦
I having the same problem. Hope this works
Thank you, thank you, thank you! The vinegar method did not work for me, but the Baking soda and H2O2 worked great. I told my neighbor and he is going to try it too. I was amazed at how simple and super cheap this method is. I noticed that you scrubbed like crazy with the wire brush. I did the same thing and it worked great.
Wonderful! God bless
Nice job I'd do to always go with the least abrasive brush on any surface first so not as to damage the surface and when dealing with concrete always seal after you brush or heavy wash to maintain the strength of the finish. And always wet down b4 and rinse afterwards.
MBJ: thanks very much for a helpful video. I think I'll avoid the wire brush, but the hydrogen peroxide and vinegar with a stiff bristle plastic brush sure looks like a winner to me. I've tried lots of things including WD-40 for rust stains with no luck. Your results look super promising. Thanks for sharing your insight. God bless.
👍 can’t wait to try this when the sun comes up. Thanks!
My goodness. It makes me feel like some commercial cleaners are preying on people to not know these natural methods and use their chemical heavy formulas which are just patented versions of what nature does better! You’re so awesome! Thanks for sharing!
environment and cost,..... hand in hand 😇👀
Was on fb looking for answer. Thank you man
Happy to help! and always God bless
I have lots of stains on my garage surface, including coffee stains. This video is very helpful and I will try it.
Thank you ...good luck ... and God bless
In spite of the naysayers and in deference to adult, polite, civilized discourse, I say thank you. I only suggest you feather your action and solution into surrounding areas then rinse before allowing the solution to dry. I did this, utilizing baking soda & vinegar and using a simple course nylon cleaning brush immediately subsequent watching. The discoloration is gone and everything blended perfectly. I did rinse one spot prematurely, finding the stain, though faint, somewhat remained. A quick second cleaning made it disappear completely. Your effort is deeply appreciated.
Thankyou and always God bless😇
Wow impressive video - thank you!
welcome
If you are using vinegar the best is to not let dry and rinse it off before it does. Saturate the rust and give some dwell time and rinse off.
This is a life saver been trying to use detergent and the excess from cleaning toilets aka toilet gel and floor cleaner in water.. But they did nothing which I expected.. Glad that something as harmless as vinegar does the trick.. Not sure how safe baking soda and hydrogen petoxide is around primary school children but vinegar should definitely be safe to use around children in my company and governments eyes hopefully.
Thanks a bunch man keep doing what you doing.
thank you
I do the same way but rinse it off right after to get all rust water off concrete let it dry then came back and just poured vinegar back on former area so it penetrate deep in the clean area. I use cat litter for oil spots w a little fuel gets most of the oil out oil is very hard to totally remove though.
Spray oil spot with brake cleaner and daub with old sock or rag after it loosens up in a few seconds, before brake cleaner exaporates. Deep old stains are hard remove. Keep reapplying until you get all of it up, that will come up.
Thanks for the post. I'll be using this trick this week!! Doesn't it make more sense to scrub it, rinse it while it's still wet, then let it dry?
You and only You can pick your weapon .Quote MBJREPORT
Great video, thanks for showing two methods too =)
You bet!
Excellent!!! Thank you for sharing
Dude ! pressure wash it into the dirt after you brush. Don’t let it dry. The plastic brush doesn’t scratch off the concrete surface.
I was thinking exactly the same thing. You want to wash it off in a continuous flow after the core brushing is done.
Thanks for this. 👍🏾👍🏾
No problem 👍 God bless
Wow!! this is amazing !! Thank you
You're so welcome! and always God Bless😇
Thank you for the advice. It worked good for me.
You're welcome! and always God bless😇
Awesome!!! Thank you
You bet God bless.
no nonsense well done video, very helpful, thanks.
Glad it helped😇
Thank you! I will try it!
Hope you like it! God bless works for me
thanks for this video! did the vinegar and wire brush method damage the concrete? it looks a bit discoloured afterwards. Or is that just a side effect of that spot now being cleaner than the surrounding concrete?
Yes the spot is cleaner and goes back to normal for me in a day or two in Hot summer time and slower in winter - Works for me
@@mbjdiy1778 thanks!!
Oh wow this is oUtstanding thank you🥰
You are so welcome😇
I tried vinegar but need to keep applying or I've heard wet towels soaked with plain vinegar works great! I'm yet to try it.
Use a a wire or stiff plastic brush to rub it in ... works for me God bless
I would go with rinsing immediately with hose before drying.
Ty!!
? Oh Thank you God bless
I remove iron stains by using something that's actually for car alloy wheels. It's called auto glym magma. It turns it purple then you just wash it off with a hose. 100% works.

would this work on a the painted concrete side of the pool? I worry it myay strip the paint?
You will need to touch up the paint - works for me
Hey not sure if your going to read this but I got poured concrete 1 year ago and some huge dark stains didn’t come off as if it was still drying. I live in a hot area not sure why it would still look like that do you know anything about why it would stay the color as if it was wet but it’s dry?
This is what I could find about your concrete spot / stain problem hope this may help inform you from what they say on their site : Concrete Discoloration - Dark Spots, Stripes, and Blotchy Concrete www.foundationarmor.com/articles/discolored-concrete/#:~:text=If%20water%20has%20a%20high%20iron%20or%20mineral,use%20a%20heated%20pressure%20washer%2C%20or%20acid%20rinse.
@@mbjdiy1778 thank you!!!
i think the wire brush worked more than the vinegar and baking soda and peroxide concoctions because it took off a little of the surface of the concrete. I tried and did. not have success and the brush was scratching the concrete off. I have a tint in mine so any abrasive brush you risk making a mess.
You can use a firm plastic brush it just takes longer but the mixes loosen up the rust you may have to soak first especially for old or thick stains . Good luck God bless works for me
Wire brush works BUT, you can buy the wire brush attachment for your drill at Harbor Fright for 6bux. And you let the drill do the work for you. That is what i did. You do not really need the vinegar with drill, but it helps. I just finished this job in my drive way and it worked very well.
The vinegar pulls up the rust in the pores. Thank you for your comment God bless you
Useing a wire brush destroys the concreate surface. A soft bristle brush would of been better. Make sure you seal coat your driveway as you have taken off the protective coating..
What I find helpful is a pumice stone scraper! Works better than all I have tried.
With that it will come back. The vinegar pulls it up .😇
What would you suggest for dark deep long term rust stains?
This method (works for me - worked for my grandpa ) I use the vinegar and wire brush on all my rust on mortar and concrete stains - works for me. For deep stains soak it in vinegar let dry do it again then wire brush the vinegar pulls it up. Soak a lot with vinegar then once you see the stain degrading in color (getting lighter) then wire brush - works for me ---
good luck God bless
Thanks, you're # 1
You're welcome! God bless
Great video! Just curious why you let it dry after application? Why not rinse the rust suspended in the cleaner right away? Which method was easier?
That's how I was taught by my Grandfather back in the late sixties why change a good thing or method that works for me. ;) Thanks for the comment. Use the method YOU think works best. You and only you can choose their weapon. Quote by MBJREPORT

The force is strong with you ... StarWars 9 coming soon yeah !!!

Fantastic!!! Going to try it now!!! Thank you!
WORKS FOR ME...God bless ...I hate them stains they drive crazy I see them when no else cares or notices (clean freak, OCD call it what you will but when you sell a house every walk through points then out including oil stains and paint drips and paint spills.)
Will the vinegar leave a stain? anyone know?Thank you
It will be super clean then will fade back to normal in a couple or more days ... Works for me--- God Bless
Is this an effective approach to removing stains from bluestone?
Test cleaners(my DIY mixes)in an inconspicuous area first. After completely drying see if color of stone has changed if not continue on but use a plastic brush in stead of a wire brush unless the stain is too severe but be careful . Works for me God bless
Thank you..
You're welcome God bless
Nice. Vinegar ...wow.
Thank you God bless
Vinegar is effective, but wash it off quickly, as vinegar etches concrete
Would this work to remove stain from a stained patio?
Rust stain /concrete patio/ works for me
Very good diy video. Thank you sir 🙏🏼
You are welcome
Both are great solutions, but you need to do the entire section of whatever you are cleaning to make it look natural or you will just have a clean spot wherever the stain was...Thank you though, very good vid.
Mad Max what a movie saw it in theaters ... 5 people on a 8:00 Friday night theater.. 2 left said this is barbaric (real old couple) the other two (date night for them) laughed through the whole movie .... me I thought Mad Max was awesome (1979 saw it before my night shift. Any way it will blend in in a week or so Works for me God bless and always thank you for your comment.
@@mbjdiy1778 Mad Max "Mel Gibson" or Mad Max "Tom Hardy”? Who’s better?
Mel he should have done the new one (my opinion only) When he did the Expendables he had mastered his crazy man acting which would have done the new movie well
@@mbjdiy1778 Hmmm....i never thought of him doing the new one, but only because it was the original trilogy he completed....but i like your thinking. What do you think of “Joker” with Phoenix taking over?
Have to look that up .I just do not know anything about it “Joker” with Phoenix taking over?
Does it have to be a wire brush? I don't have one.
Some subscribers use plastic bristle brush and say works for them.
One more............. I just tried the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide method on my BBQ grill grate. There was a bit of annoying rust, so I did the application and took the wire brush to it and it worked pretty darned well. And BTW, my neighbor in the last post had a huge rust stain, so he is doing it in bits and pieces. The rust is almost gone. I'd sure like to know where the rust comes from. I had it on my concrete pool decking and driveway. We generally park our cars in garages. So, does it come from moisture leaked by your car that reacts with the chemistry of the concrete? Thanks!
Sometimes rust dripping off the car from AC areas ,coolant and so on . I kept getting rust stains in my side driveway drove me crazy could not figure where it was coming from . The neighbors gardener was steel wool cleaning his edger in that spot for months it was the steel wool fragment breaking down into rust. Rust stains can come almost everything even fertilizer. Good luck God Bless - Works for me
@@mbjdiy1778 Haven't tried this method yet but looking forward to removing the rust that's settled on my drive way from my toyota sequoia. Thanks for the recommendation.
Wait so for method one did you just use vinegar from a supermarket that's it something you would eat with food?

I hope This work for oil stains on concrete.

Use brake parts cleaner from autoparts store.
Toxic but does work on oil stains .God bless and thank you for your comment.
Toxic to what? Grass?
WarningsBrake cleaner is a skin and eye irritant. Don safety clothing and eyewear when using brake cleaner.
Brake cleaner is toxic. If ingested, contact a poison control center immediately. Do not eat or drink when using this product.
Chlorinated Brake CleanerChlorinated brake cleaner is nonflammable; however, it is harsh on your skin and is known to be a possible carcinogen. It is made of two components:TetrachloroethyleneThis solvent -- also known as perchloroethylene -- is the primary ingredient in this kind of brake cleaner. It is used to remove materials from metal that are not water-soluble. This includes grease, oil, brake fluid and brake dust.
Carbon DioxideCarbon Dioxide is used as a propellant in the aerosol format of brake cleaners.Non-Chlorinated Brake CleanerComprised of different chemicals than chlorinated brake cleaner, this version is extremely flammable but is less harsh on your skin. It contains:HeptaneThis chemical distilled from oil is used primarily as a solvent to clean contaminants from metal parts and is not water-soluble. It is safe for use on ABS brakes, as well as disc and drum brakes.AcetoneThis solvent is used to clean contaminants from parts. It is particularly useful in removing water-based contaminants, as it absorbs water.Carbon DioxideThis gas is used as the propellant in non-chlorinated brake cleaner.
WarningsNon-chlorinated brake cleaner is flammable. Use it in a well-ventilated area away from open flames, hot surfaces and sparks. Do not smoke around brake cleaner.

Wow thank you so much you are so kind God bless you.
So the wire brush marks could show up after drying out 🤔
You can use a stiff plastic brush ... it will just take longer and more elbow grease ... Works for me God bless😇
Would that work to take out type s mortor?
Give it a try on a spot that is not so seen. "As you can see there's no rust".......no but using the wire brush has ground more iron into the surface which will then rust. BRILLIANT !!!!
That's why you wash off area at end with water. Works for me and many other subscribers . Good luck God bless
@@mbjdiy1778 No offence but the iron is ground in to the surface so can't be washed off. A very stiff nylon brush is better.
Here’s an idea: maybe rinse the area BEFORE letting the stains dry and reset.
I always get it from my snow blower.
Yep ... and God bless
Judging by all the views, this is a common problem. I had a concrete patio with a 18 inch wall built about 8 months ago. Rust has appeared in each place where fine cracks are. I suspect it’s rust coming through from the rebar. We had a very rainy fall and winter. Unfortunately I can’t reach the contractor. I’m going to try the methods in this video. Anyone with other suggestions to stop the rust leaks would be most welcome. Cheers for doing the video.
You must fill the cracks to stop the rust seeping through. Use my method first to remove the rust then get one of these products. Two products I recommend that work for me ... This one first is cheap and a great product : DAP Alex Plus 10.1-oz Clear Paintable Latex Caulk www.lowes.com/pd/DAP-Alex-Plus-10-1-oz-Clear-Paintable-Latex-Caulk/3025039 or
This one is expensive and hard to apply vertically but is heavy duty ::: Flex Seal Liquid 32-fl oz Clear Dip Rubberized Coating www.lowes.com/pd/Flex-Seal-32-fl-oz-Clear-Dip-Rubberized-Coating/1000097856
@@mbjdiy1778 Unfortunately the methods above didn’t budge the nasty rust. Once I find something that removes the rust I will get the filler you recommended. After spending 12,000 on the patio and wall I’m really wanting the unsightly rust removed. I also tried CLR diluted and undiluted. 😗
You scrubbed that first one so hard I thought you were going to wear through the concrete. I want a method that doesn't need a lot of scrubbing. I think I'll try the alkaline peroxide, but I'm not going nuts with the brush. That should be a little easier on the concrete than an acid product.
I scrubbed like I normally do -works for me -and environmentally friendly
A wire brush won't hurt concrete
Does this work with battery acid stains?
Try this ::: Pour chlorine bleach into a spray bottle. Spray affected area until completely covered and let it set for a five minutes. Scrub battery acid stains with a hard bristle brush. If the stain remains, spray on another application of bleach and let it set longer. Found this on the web:::Works for them ... hope this helps ... God bless😇

What is the "white powder" ??? I can't hear clearly
Baking soda (during method #2)
Good luck. Works for me.
Thanks !!!
As you were brushing away I was just watching all that released rust RESETTLE from the acid BACK into the concrete, and you confirmed this as you poured water in it. ONCE you hit it with the brush (dont even need such aggressive brushing)and you see it release you are supposed to rinse it, NOT wait or anything. Common logic. It is better you do it in 2 steps of application than letting it soak back in. Look at the ring you are creating.
You and only YOU can choose your weapon -MBJREPORT This is how my grandfather did it and that's how I do it. Works for me. Thank you for your comment and always God bless
@@mbjdiy1778 As long as you didnt need to go over it to remove the rings, as there is an edit at each time. SO I am thinking you may have had to redo the surrounding rig. If you rinse earlier, you dont need to clean the ring of stain. Yes, God bless.

Don't let the chemical dry on the surface.
no ... wash off after procedure ... Works for me God bless
Seems like just a little elbow grease does the trick
and vinegar it breaks it down.. thanx for comment God bless
I tried this and it doesn’t work. All this is doing is scrubbing concrete with an abrasive that gradually removes light rust stains. Hydrogen peroxide has no affect on dissolving rust on concrete or anything else

It is okay God bless you
Please people for the love of Jesus get a tripod
Did you lose your arm in the war?
So the key is a wire brush
and vinegar---both
be careful using a wire brush. you can "burn" the concrete. a stiff nylon brush for your drill works great.
No. The key is the chemicals breaking the bonds of the iron molecules.
+Terence Irvine you're the real MVP.
I think first try wire brush, then lemon or vinegar with nylon brush, then those with wire brush -- if there is concern about corroding the concrete. Having it look discolored/damaged is not ideal either!
Why thf am i in here I don’t even have a concert or tire marks ? 😂
