I feel terrible about saying this because of your obvious high level of craftsmanship. However, grain matching dovetail joinery seems like a great waste of time. Grain matching is only worth doing on 45'ed corners, showing the grain actually matches. Great box though.
No need to feel bad! I agree, it's great on miters because the match is apparent. On other joinery I think it is personal preference. If I'm resawing to get my components then I will probably do a grain match. I don't feel like it is a lot more work and it will bug me if I don't do it. I recognize that I'll probably be the only one who will notice if it doesn't wrap.
That was exactly my thought when I saw the result: Why the effort? I built a box from cheap reclaimed wood that had a print on it that I wanted to keep and had the effect that the print went around the corner of the box. I cut the wood with very fine saw and sanded a 45 degree angle on it. I will further work on it because I also could not work very precise because it was my first try.
Thanks for the tip, Eric! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
And happy holidays!
Thanks for watching! Happy Holidays to you as well!
🎉super nice grain matching. And the cut corners look great 👍
