- This video shows the enhancement of Latimer Brook and the widening of Bridge 00251. At the beginning of the video, you will note the addition of concrete weirs. The weirs slow down water flow to provide the fish a calm area after traveling upstream. Natural rounded stone was placed on each side of the culvert to prevent erosion and stop sediment from entering the brook. Native wetland plantings will be placed surrounding the brook when seasonally appropriate. As the drone moves closer to the bridge, you can see its extended section along with retaining walls 113 and 115 connected to it (113 is south and 115 to the north). The third lane of I-95 northbound will be carried by this extension in the final condition. During the staging, both lanes of I-95 northbound will be shifted to this area. Since there is a large fish population in this culvert, activities were regulated, and the habitat was protected and restored. From the northern view to the barrel of the bridge, you can see a horizontal fish ladder that will allow the migratory fish improved access to upstream spawning areas.
