Pick pocketing someone un-noticed whilst telling the person you're pick pocketing them.... That's skill on a whole new level.

It actually makes it easier to pick pocket someone whom you've told you're about to pickpocket because their "spot light" becomes hyperactive and misdirection becomes easier.

@@kjw1603 Truth. I had a buddy in Afghanistan who I'd ask for a smoke. He'd say sure, and feel around for his pack as I pulled it out of my pocket and lit one. I'd hand it back to him in while his eyes and jaw were open. Every. Time. I had to wait 10 to 15 min for that perfect window. I then had to wait a few more minutes so he could never pick up on it. The longer I did it, and more on guard he was, the easier it was,, and no, I never took one without permission. It was just something fun I discovered I had a talent for.

I was pickpocketed in Italy right outside the Coliseum on a bud. Two shirtless guys got on the bus we were on and starting doing flips and breakdancing, forcing everyone already on the bus to scoot closer together. I was forced next to two old “nuns”. We get off the bus and my wallet is gone (luckily I had given my passport to my friend who had mine and hers in a necklace around her neck). The entire thing took 10 seconds. I got off the bus and realized what had happened and started crying. We called the police and told them what happened and they said it happened all the time and told me to consider myself lucky that they didn’t get my passport. The “nun” bit is one of the oldest in Italy, because who would suspect a nun of any wrongdoing! Lesson learned!

as he said already, it's a different style and flavour. street pickpockets usually works in threes, such that the misdirection is not done by the one who steals but by another guy called the "blocker" that kind of knock into you first or do something to attract your attention. the algorithm of performing pickpocketing is like a magic performance, but it's a totally different thing on the street. he won't be able to do a street style pickpocket by himself.

True, but like many things in life, pickpocketing has varying degrees. There are thieves on the street looking to steal wallets; then there's what I'd call "playful" or "prank" pickpocketing, where you sneak an item out of a family member or friend's pocket without them noticing, then show it to them when they realize it's gone. The latter is fun and generally garners plenty of laughs!

~I see Apollo Robins as a master "martial artist". The mental & physical skills & training he has and uses are in principle exactly the same. An extremely high amount of discipline and "focused situational awareness" is involved, along with ones "whole being". Years of practice, and SELF discipline developing a skill and craft to the extent that it can be performed seemingly without effort, and the ultra finely honed motions and techniques are often invisible to an observer, invoking astonishment and or appreciation for feats witnessed yet unseen, and the core "secret" of the craft.
I suppose this is why some people who are very highly skilled in these ways are commonly referred to as "Magicians".
~When someone has such complete understanding, and dominion over their craft, so they deploy it to perfection effortlessly, making it look easy...Only Then are they truly a Master.
I am always very impressed and I marvel at what the human body & mind is capable of when properly conditioned - incredible feats, not accessible and impossible to those who have not traversed the "Rite Of Passage", the "Conditioning" passion, and devotion, needed to Master a craft, and it could be almost anything...which to the untrained and unconditioned majority of us, can sometimes seem to involve the supernatural. Because I recognize these special features in Apollo, I think of him as a Master Martial Artist. If his skill level and philosophy were ANY less, I would perhaps see only a common expert "pick-pocket".
