Added this to my Watch later list and then it got lost and i forgot about this video until i cleaned my list up a few days ago and found it again. Finally watched it just now. Thanks for doing this, great interview with a great musician.
Great conversation, as vinyl collector and as music fan. Friction is one of the reasons why I listen to Mats, Vandermark, Trane. I study Danto as a job and one of his great believes was that art is political, art can change the world and I strongly believes he was right. I own around 10.000 vinyl but everyday is a new day for a new record. Same with books. Nothing can substitute the materiality of the medium, the touch, the reading. Great to see Mats with that t shirt, it means a lot to me. Thank you both
What a great conversation! Thank you for putting this online. Following your jazz vids with delight and am a fan of Mats Gustafsson. Jazz vinyl shopping in Sweden is really fun!
Why am I not surprised that my number 1 to find over the last six years is the same record as Mats. I actually found a guy with a copy in the States with the art cover of the Graves/Pullen at Yale University but the price was well out of reach. Maybe I’ll email Mats his info. It was a solid copy. I actually bought a copy of Babi from Mats earlier this year. This was a great interview by the way Jonas. One of the best I have seen done in the VC.
What group are you talking about at @57:34 ? i can't understand it acoustically but i wanna check it out because you speaking so highly of it! thanks in advance
If you wanna skip to Mats getting really hyped up about that Laine/Kesti duo on Eteenpäin! that he’s going to reissue soon, go to minute 36:45. This is very exciting news! Mats wouldn’t have probably mentioned it if Jonas didn’t come up with my all-time fave Interstellar Space. Tack!

If done that too. Glad you found your way back to it. Thanks for watching. A fantastic conversation with the man!
Great conversation. What a kind and gentle soul he is, in contrast to his wild and often violent and always great music.
