A 3rd Kick-Ass film, if well-executed as an adaptation of the final comic saga (from where Kick-Ass 2's events left off) would have made this an epic trilogy. Every major player in the plot gets a satisfying resolution. Dave completes his arc, finds true love, and gets the opportunity to continue helping people after retiring from vigilantism: A near-perfect ending. His final outing as Kick-Ass isn't just the highest in personal stakes. To me, it's his most noble, relatable, and self-sacrificial storyline. He feels more like a superhero than ever while simultaneously being at his arguably most humanized and vulnerable. He's closer to becoming Hit Girl's equal too, and they respect each other more as peers than mentor & pupil.
A lot of people hate kick ass because they thought it was another spoof parody of the Superhero genre… I loved the movie. It was definitely an epic emotional adventure. Kick ass 2 was a disappointment and more of an action movie.

The kind of halfwits who praise it for "showing what superheros would be like in the real world", as if pre-teen girls with swords routinely go around murdering entire roomfuls of heavily armed adult criminals in "the real world".

I went in thinking super hero comedy...came out like wowww dark gritty hyper realism...I ended up loving this film as one of my all time favorite films of all time! The comics are good too but Vaughn knew how to make it amazing....hit girl was the best thing since slice bread...Nick Cages ode to Adam West Batman...Aaron Taylor Johnson doing the best American Teen Accent with (Puberty changing tones) I've ever heard....and blowing up a mobb boss with a bazooka !!! I actually think it's one of the best super hero movies ever. Grounded in reality. The rubbish put out by Marvel and DC comics is just that... rubbish. In real life, real super heros don't have super powers. They just put their neck on the line to stand up for those who can't for themselves. The biggest let down of all those was when Hitgirl is conned by some psychologist into giving up her unique identity and reintegrating into High School. The audience is left with a feeling of... WTF??? After that, I couldn't watch any more. Hopefully in a never to made movie 3 she'll come to her senses and throw that rubbish off.

I grew with that movie and Watchmen, as also that other movie where the superheroes are also mortals and... one dies? Can't remember. (I also like to ramble). It's a lot like "The Boys" in that respect, except that Garth Ennis never hid his contempt for superhero comics, which he considered "beneath him" despite being the source of all his fame and money.
