hey man, nice vid. i was just wondering, how do you fit your battery into that handguard? i have the daniel defense rail, but sold my SA80 because i couldnt find a way to fit a battery inside. please could you show or tell me how you got fit it in? nice magpuls by the way. cheers!
hey man, just wondering if you've re wired the connectors on the weapon or if you just use a large to small converter? i'm trying to ge for the same setup as you, cos it looks like it works pretty well
so what did u buy? i'm gettin an ICS L85A2 tomorrow and planning also to get a red dot/scope but dunno what's best for that rifle. so any hint will be greatly appreciated! thank you for your video!
Thinking of buying this with the specter sight like yours, did you need to add the aftermarker rail or does the sight fit on the rear sight rail that comes with it. I know ares has the 19mm rail did ics change it to a 20mm?
I have indeed spent a lot of time with this weapon, 13 years infact, im an instructor at the infantry training centre catterick, is that weapon the same weight as the real one ?
Hi there, I have the same one! Where did you get the rail system? I'm looking for a Daniel Defense Rail System, but they don't have any rails for it, not that I know of anyway. A grip would really come in handy since it's hard to aim properly without it.
Is there even any need for there to be a cocking mechanism? I mean he cocked it back to begin with but the working parts did not move during firing and he did not need to cock it when he reloaded. Is it just for show?
Yes. He cocked it to give the impression the cocking handles charges the first round. As its electric and not gas blowback the bolt doesnt move. Its there purely for show. Same as my m4. I can cock the charging handle and release the bolt catch but it has no effect on the loading of the bbs.
I know this is a pretty old video, but I just bought an ICS L85A2, how do the batteries fit in the Daniel Defense Rail? I've been thinking about buying one.
@DeltaForceAirsoft17 The working parts don't need to be cocked nor is the forward assist required for the AEG, I'm just keeping up the consistency in my drills. The patch is a custom job, there's a few retailers online who will custom sew velcro-backed name tapes like that.
There's no material on the RIS in front of the gas block, so it's a different mounting method. Adaptor kit is required. The optics rail is an ICS after market part.
Awsome L85 I was thinking of getting a similar set up but its really expensive! :( Do you think you could do more of an indepth review of this setup of your ICSl85 please?
@MrWookie2 Fancy new Elcan with docter is on the way, but I hate the ergonomics of grip-pods I'm afraid, so I decided to avoid the 'standard issue' look. Plus there's enough guys out there with that setup already, I thought I'd try and be a little different.
@p00nuk Chinese copy of the ELCAN Spepcter, the big HK airsoft stores carry them. I believe pro airsoft supplies over here has some in as well. p.s. very much accidentally removed your comment, sorry.
@DigitalEchoFox Not sure why I do it with an AEG, pure muscle memory kicking in I guess, heh. Rail is the madbull replica yes, had a little bit of work to do on the adapter piece but that was only 2 minutes with the dremel, very easy.
800mah 7.4v lipo, fits inside just fine. Removed the faux gas parts and routed the wires so the fuse and tamiya connectors sit above the barrel under the hinged cover.
Getting a lot of queries r.e. the handguard used. The ICS rifle doesn't accept the real Daniel Defence RIS so I've used the Madbull licenced replica of said rail, which can be picked up at various airsoft retailers in the UK and Hong Kong.
The ARES is the closest except for the field strip, where it fails big time. The gas parts in the ICS look pretty close to the real thing and the way they fit together is the same, the bolt holding open (green lever on the right) works in the wrong direction though, and the bolt release is just a dummy, but that's the same on all the AEG L85s. Field strip on the ICS is very quick and easy, by far the best of any AEG I've ever seen, you can have the gearbox out in seconds with no tools at all.
Aww jee the Falklands, hows things going over there haha? What RAF Station are you usually based at? I might go RAF once I'm out of school we had one of the recruiment teams round at our cadet squadron a while ago hehe, maybe go for the raf reg . Anyways thanks for replying and I'm looking forwards to seeing the video.
Any other type of airsoft replica I wouldn't really bother, but I feel it makes sense to keep these things up in this case considering I might have to use an L85 for real some day.
I can't put URLs in comments unfortunately mate, but if you google the airosft shop 'fire support' (.co.uk is their address) then looked under the ICS section of the AEGs. You'll find the L85A2s there.
It's just a replica, perfectly legal and I'm in a privately owned garden with no over-lookers. Google 'airsoft' for an explanation of the sport. Also, I'm not in the Army, I'm Air Force.
'Best' is very subjective. The optic in the video is a replica of the ELCAN 1-4x Specter with a Docter red-dot up top, but you could go for an ACOG replica with a similar setup.
1:23 CHECK THE ROUNDS INSERT THE MAG TUG TO ENSURE IT'S SECURE RACK COCKING HANDLE FORWARD ASSIST GOOD DRILLS! :) Oh, and you even closed the dust cover as well. Top drawer. In terms of the actual L85, I have an ICS one too, and it's nice to know that yours sounds as whiny as mine. btw, is that the Madbull rail? Did you have any trouble fitting it?
That shirt your wearing is an American style one even though it has a Union Jack on it because the real one I use has the MTP camouflage and angled Velcro pieces, not horizontal and in Multi-Cam. Multi Terrain Pattern is much more green and lighter and has a larger print size
I actually realised that those Velcro pieces were angled, but do they have cover plates (Velcro ones that we sew badges onto when we get awarded them), but still if you look at the MTP we wear, you would see the huge difference
desantos123 That's an old MTP UBACS still in the CS95 cut, i.e. pre-dating the issue of PCS. I got it from stores so I can assure you it's not American Multicam or anything like that, it's just different to what we're all issued now. Compare what I'm wearing to pictures of the old issued desert DPM UBACS and you'll see the same cut of the velcro and pockets etc.
Hell yeah man, those guys are just too hardcore. I sure wish I could be a real internet commando like you are, typing away at your little desk there, dealing with your personal inadequacies and insecurities in the most hardcore, manly way possible: by attempting to make yourself feel like you matter in the world via the medium of trying to degrade others through a website while you hide behind online anonymity. You're my fucking hero bro. You really fucking are.
watching a weapon that should roar whimper, is like some kind of surreal personal hell.
I like how you handled that recoil ; )
These electric airsoft guns recoil hard you know. Takes a lot of training to handle that kick.
REMF Tacticool : P It is a sweet looking piece of kit, though.
Cheers
hey there.
Does the bolt release catch work like on the real steal model so you can practice NSP's stoppage drills ect.
Sadly not on this model. Bolt release button is just a non-functional piece of plastic.
+REMF Tacticool
Is there any SA80s out there that do have this feature. I really want one
WE L85A2.
The forward assist made the video 😂😎
WHAT BRAND OF BATTERY ? WHERE DID YOU BUY IT FROM ? I cannot find a battery to fit inside that damn small space with the deans cable and fuse.
hey man, nice vid. i was just wondering, how do you fit your battery into that handguard? i have the daniel defense rail, but sold my SA80 because i couldnt find a way to fit a battery inside. please could you show or tell me how you got fit it in? nice magpuls by the way. cheers!
Hey Chris, it's Ed from AF-UK. What's the sling you're using in this video?
hey man, just wondering if you've re wired the connectors on the weapon or if you just use a large to small converter? i'm trying to ge for the same setup as you, cos it looks like it works pretty well
so what did u buy? i'm gettin an ICS L85A2 tomorrow and planning also to get a red dot/scope but dunno what's best for that rifle. so any hint will be greatly appreciated! thank you for your video!
Hiya Fella, can you tell me how easy it is and what's involved in putting the Madbull(Daniel Defense) front end on The ICS.
Can you do a tutorial of removing the orange flash hider, I cant seem to remove mine
Thinking of buying this with the specter sight like yours, did you need to add the aftermarker rail or does the sight fit on the rear sight rail that comes with it. I know ares has the 19mm rail did ics change it to a 20mm?
Chris will a 9.6v 1600 nimh battery fit in this hand guard?
Can it shoot? Not quite sure of the question to be honest. It's firing BBs quite happily there in the videos, the camera just doesn't pick them up.
are you able to fit anything other than a lipo in the ris or is it that tight?
Hey. Where did you get your hand guard rail. I've been looking all over for one. Thanks
Hi there, love the vids.can you tell me how easy it is to put this front end on an ICS L85??cheers
Is that the standard width rail you got on there??i thought the only scope you could have on the L85 was the SUSAT.Cheers
@TheJaaysog I'm very strongly considering the 5.11, so if it turns up any time soon do let me know what you think.
where did you get the picitinny rail to mount your specter dr elcan on ?
have you had a chance to use the G&G l85a2 or the Ares version if so could you tell me which one you think is best.
Not tried the others, sorry. I know the ICS is the newest design and from the reviews I've read it's the best option to go with.
+Henry Thompson It's probably way too late now, but I've got the G&G one and it's brilliant.
does this L85A2 have a threaded barrel? so you can put a silencer on it? if not can you buy one to fit? thanks love your videos :D
Mine doesn't have a thread on the barrel, but if you bought one now it should do, in which case there would be some way to attach a suppressor.
What RAS unit is that? Did you by chance have to modify the gun or the RAS unit to get it on?
Hiya Fella,do you have the problem where by it locks up in semi auto??
you must be the only other airsofter in the whole MOD! thank you i'm not alone!
hi, I am planning on buying one of these rifles from ics, are they definitely worth the cash?
Long as you buy from a reputable retailer, yeah I'd say so.
what magazines do you use in your L85? they looked like EMags, but what brand?
Sky Fusco You need a small 7.4v lipo pack.
Did you serve the way you handled the weapon just looked professional
I don't have the rifle to hand at the moment unfortunately. What's your plan?
Just a quick one. What midcaps are you using? ICS are so fussy with compatibility.
Do tell me more about all the military firing ranges you've seen with wooden panel fences going right along the firing lanes?
@DeltaForceAirsoft17 The working parts don't need to be cocked nor is the forward assist required for the AEG, I'm just keeping up the consistency in my drills. The patch is a custom job, there's a few retailers online who will custom sew velcro-backed name tapes like that.
What rail system are you using on the upper reciever? Is it the standard 20mm rail and how did you get it installed?
There's no material on the RIS in front of the gas block, so it's a different mounting method. Adaptor kit is required. The optics rail is an ICS after market part.
Hey, could you tell me where you got your MTP from? I love MTP but can't find any of it that is or is close to the real deal.
what optics did you use in this video?
Can you put a suppressor on it?
Where did you get the 20mm rail for your L85? I cant find them anywhere.
what battery do you use because mine doesn't fit in the rail system
Where have you buy the RIS handguard plz ???
nice vid, i was wondering if you could make another using a 9.6v battery.
How did you get the rails fitted to the rifle?
Purchased it from a shop?
Hello, Just want know. Do you have any problems with this gun by ICS?? Cos i start thinking to buy one.
Nope, solid gun. Of the L85s out there on the airsofr market I think it's the best option.
CKinnerley Thank mate ; )
No problem.
How did you acquire one of those airsoft guns?
Awsome L85 I was thinking of getting a similar set up but its really expensive! :( Do you think you could do more of an indepth review of this setup of your ICSl85 please?
what would you recommend? the ICS one or the G&G one?
im getting one of these what rail system and where can i get
Grate video, do you have anymore stuff on some warrior assualt systems gear? would love to see some more reviews of that :)
What brand is that rail unit?
can u give me a link to where u got that top rail? thanks
Oh cool, good to see you are keeping on top of your drill & Good job on scraping the crappy standard SUSAT can't hit jack with it.
@MrWookie2 Fancy new Elcan with docter is on the way, but I hate the ergonomics of grip-pods I'm afraid, so I decided to avoid the 'standard issue' look. Plus there's enough guys out there with that setup already, I thought I'd try and be a little different.
What rail system were you using on this??
have you modded it or is that box standard?
+Ben Kirkham Internally all standard.
Seems to run very good with LiPo. Nice response on the trigger too. I've been thinking of buying this gun for a while now.
@p00nuk Chinese copy of the ELCAN Spepcter, the big HK airsoft stores carry them. I believe pro airsoft supplies over here has some in as well. p.s. very much accidentally removed your comment, sorry.
Past tense? I'm currently serving.
What sling are you using?
I think (this was a long time ago) it's just a standard issue 3-pt but in black.
Soon as I get home from this tour of the falklands (got 2 weeks left) then I shall get on to making that video for you mate.
@ila6435 Madbull rail, just need to buy the correct adapter to fit it (also made by madbull).
@DrewBlue86 A 9.6 nimh gives pretty much the same results as a 7.4 lipo, so what you're seeing in that video covers both.
what branch you in?
Getting a lot of queries r.e. the handguard used. The ICS rifle doesn't accept the real Daniel Defence RIS so I've used the Madbull licenced replica of said rail, which can be picked up at various airsoft retailers in the UK and Hong Kong.

hey man what r.i.s./r.a.s. is that? thanks love the look of the gun:)
The l85a2 is one of my favorite looking weapon
Aww jee the Falklands, hows things going over there haha? What RAF Station are you usually based at? I might go RAF once I'm out of school we had one of the recruiment teams round at our cadet squadron a while ago hehe, maybe go for the raf reg . Anyways thanks for replying and I'm looking forwards to seeing the video.
Can't say I have, though I pretty much always use short bursts on FA.
Always thought the l85 looked a little plain but that rail just completes it in my opinion.
are you in the army mate?
I saw that mag change you went for the bolt release catch as if it were a real weapon !
Any other type of airsoft replica I wouldn't really bother, but I feel it makes sense to keep these things up in this case considering I might have to use an L85 for real some day.
@sinkiller8 7.4v 800mah right now, no upgrades needed.
Not to worry, it wasn't in the description when you originally asked.
I'm looking at doing a proper video on this soon since a lot of people have been asking, keep an eye out.
Google the Madbull L85 rail/ris, should be able to find some stores. You also need the ICS adapter kit.
Not an LSW fan myself, but always go ICS either way. Just wish they made the AFV myself, that I would buy.
@TheJaaysog Cheers. It's the issue MTP UBACS and a Warrior DCS PC. If I were to go skirmishing tomorrow that's the gear I'd use.
Couldn't tell you to be honest, bought it more than a year ago. Should be some stock around at different stores.
@pxdfover Some people made up the 'A3' for some reason, but there's no such thing. An A2 with the RIS is still an A2, yes.
I can't put URLs in comments unfortunately mate, but if you google the airosft shop 'fire support' (.co.uk is their address) then looked under the ICS section of the AEGs. You'll find the L85A2s there.

The Full 9 don’t you need a UKARA license to have a real imitation firearm in the uk though?
Joe Brown yea you do, there are some other ways such as being a re-enactment member or on behalf of a museum
are you RAF reg?
@CKinnerley Oh cool, well if your ever deployed hope you get back safe, Im in the army and got the Sa80.
'Best' is very subjective. The optic in the video is a replica of the ELCAN 1-4x Specter with a Docter red-dot up top, but you could go for an ACOG replica with a similar setup.
You didn't happen to be in the military did you?
Are you in the army?
Air Force.
Nice, what's your role?
Armourer, or to be official, 'Weapons Technician'
Nice job, you enjoy it?
There's certainly 'down sides' to the military, but you get to do stuff you'd never do otherwise, so you take the good with the bad.
I don't know, I have GBB, EBB and AEG rifles and alternate between them all the time. Just depends on the time of year and the type of game.

I think fire-support here in the UK should have some stock.
