MrFugassa That's gonna pretty normal in this gen of console I'm afraid. They build a game, and keep "expanding" and chargin more and more money. They did that with Destiny, and it worked incredibly well.
MrFugassa they ( they being IO ) have mentioned on Social Media that the content released throughout 2016 will be free and they have "promised" that there will be alot of content from the start. They have also mentioned that they don't like season passes and similar items. And they way i see it, is that someone buys this game and they kind of get a season pass for free.
TaekoZ It sounds like it is going to be bad.. DLC would supplement the story not finish it. If this isn't the case the guy did a terrible job of understanding/or explaining Joe's questions.. otherwise it just sounds like a train wreck game that most people will pick up in the bargain bin if at all.

Pay to play, I know I´ll get raged upon but really, the leangths publishers go to get an extra buck without any effort really deserves the shitstorm the community makes.

Whoa whoa, what you mean no effort, every game takes effort man, and he said you will be satisfied, the story you will get on launch day will be satisfying, just that it will eventually evolve.
I appritiate everyone who corrects me on this matter but really, it aint that weird that I kind of think that I will be screwed over by publishers just look at home the big titles have been reduced to milk machines rather then creative expression.

GodwinCarpenter Open world missions were the worst in Hitman 1 and 2. I remember the Colombian forest mission and the Japanese snow mission which were pretty bad.

Pretty much what Joe is trying to ask and the guy can't even give him a straight answer is "it's the fucking game going to be worth $60 on it's release day??? Fuck!! Just answer yes or no dammit!! The developer guy should be a fucking politician. out of the gate this game sounds like a waste of money. Will not buy it probably till I check it out with other people's let's plays. Don't give a fuck about spoilers if the game is good you will want to experience it yourself.

Well he might as well of just said, we're going to be bringing out a fuck load of DLC that you can buy to finish the game and you're going to get a half arsed unfinished story that comes with the actual disc.

Akeruz They told it will be free. I think at an E3 interview by gamespot. But the interviewer did ask the question and the hitman dev/guy said he wanted to make it clear that the 2016 experience will be free of charge. I personally think they are trying something new with those timed contracts. Sounds like a way to deter piracy as well.

Yeah season 1 and 2 were definitely the best but season 3 & 4 were also good. It's cool seeing someone else has actually watched the series I think it's a very underrated show
Season 3 felt dragged out a bit as well as 4 but I'm such a prison break fanboy I was just happy to watch to show haha

I think it sounds like they are going for a Telltale Games approach in terms of story. It seems like its going to come out in Episodes. But in each area/episode there will be contracts on top of the main missions.
I just hope it isnt paid DLC!
DrasticSkuba It's not paid DLC. The developers have said that you only need to pay $60 to buy the game and the DLC missions will be free and there will be no hidden costs.

Asylation the difference is thar early access games are not finish in their functionalities, controls, hud, gamedesign. Here what they will release first is finished and polished content, but just not all the content. So, technically it's not early access.

Aniki I mean, it's an unfinished game if all the content isn't there. If I can't get the complete experience day one, then it's incomplete. "DLC" should be optional, but it feels like it won't be in this case even though it's "free." Overall, they picked a very odd business model. Square Enix usually complains that they don't make enough money in games so I wonder if this will be "episodic" and the amount/quality of content depends on the amount of people who bought the game.

No not really, it's more like a fourth of a game in 2015 and then by the end of 2016 it's complete.
Telltale games are also only $5 an episode, and they sell episodes separately if you just want to try one out. This is $60 no matter what
I like that Joe actually interviews them and doesn't fanboy. when the interviewee say something that isn't on the mark or sound shaky from the week being odd the game perspective Joe confronts that. He asks questions that we want to know about. He isn't a soft ass interviewer. He has nothing to gain or lose. Good shit man
OK, so let me get this straight. the game will have somewhat of a story on launch but it will be told throughout 2016, and between will be missions that are only there for a couple of days and then will disappear forever. the timed missions will probably be free, but the question that i wanted Joe to ask is will the missions that "evolve" the story be free or not. is it like the episodic games where you have to pay for each episode. if its like that it better be like a $20 game and the episodes should be like $5 or $10, cuz no way i will play $60 for one part of a game and pay more on top of that to get the rest of the story. i don't like how square enix is being every shady about this and not telling us what the fuck the game is.
Robb Stark What I got out of it is that world will probably change month by month creating new experiences. Similar to how things change in an MMO around holidays. Accept that this would be consistently changing and basically causing each player to have their own personal experience and story to tell.

FullForceGaming No kidding. I have never been a Hitman fan but if they made a solid game I would be interested. The guy basically says the story won't be finished until DLC. I don't see how a struggling IP thinks they can get away with this. Are there enough Hitman fans to even fall for this? I always hope for the best as I will always play a good game even if I thought it would be bad.. but this is not looking promising.
FullForceGaming Looks like they are selling the game as an episode then giving you free DLC till the conclusion. Which isn't a bad idea when you are short on funds and can use the following episodes to keep sales steady.

CraigAA1028 The game needs an ending! The guy gave no indication the 60$ game has an ending! If you want DLC to be story.. it needs to expand on the story or delve into side stories or something. No way can the DLC straight up conclude the main story. That is ridiculous.

I love how angry joe questions this guy. He isnt just some reporter setting up the developers. He wants to know how this game is going to come out, and so far it doesnt look good. Angry Joe saw it go out of control and changed directions and made sure to not beat around the bush. He said how much content will there be when this game comes out. Angry joe needs to interview every and all EA developers before their games come out.

NulliSecundumTV aye i saw watching the video they seem to be going back to blood money some which is good because blood money was a VERY fun game...Absolution i couldn't really get into that much because it was so linear. Either way if they merge the two games which it seems like is happening then it will be a good game.
TheCullousus i personally enjoyed both of the games, sure, i was bummed out in Absolution that you didn't have this big level / open-area, so you couldn't really assassinate the target more than 1 or 2 ways, but i still had fun with it, but if they are combining both, i think it will be one of the best hitman games, if not the best.
Dev here. I'm afraid to say it won't be. We're going a completely different direction with this new title. Honestly it's going to be shit.

Silver Mirai Blood Money was focused on the sandbox more than the story and that's still the quintessential Hitman game. Absolution tried to focus on a story, but in my opinion that failed spectacularly because the story was too over-the-top and nothing felt like it belonged in the Hitman franchise.

Silver Mirai That's what Blood Money is (minus the multiplayer). It's focus wasn't on the story, but the story that was there was great and it was told in the background for most of the game until by the end it was brought to the forefront and the player got to participate in the conclusion.

What I like about Joes interviews is that when developers usually use these formats to sell their product (got that vibe a LOT from the Dev) and Joe nopes that out of the window, asking the hard questions and actually finding out things people WANT to know, not just the pretty things to sell the product.

you noticed my profile picture didnt you :) timesplitters is a flawless game and my favorite first person shooter, but this hitman game it seems like they wanna see if they can get alot of sales for an early access game and if they will get alot of money I guarantee they will release those levels with little effort in them or not even release them at all
yeah free radical made haze but it sucked and barely sold any copies which forced them to cancel timesplitters 4 but luckily now a group of skilled programmers and fans are making timesplitters rewind! it will be a remake of all three game plus they are making maps from timesplitters 4 also and it will all be free

Hopefully there will be a good amount of content at the game's release, and not something a bit short, forcing us to really wait for small bits and pieces of the game eventually leading to something huge we've already completed by the end.

Don't really give anything the definition OF an opinion until it looks and sounds like a real one. Anything else is horseshit in retrospect.
Cutscenes everywhere, even when you kill your target; linear as fuck with level design that not only had short levels but relies on simplified stealth (the "hide in plain sight" system of blood money was almost completely gone/didn't work) with no choice whatsoever involved, which is a BIG deal since previous hitman games were all about choices and big levels; shit, uninteresting story. Just off the top of my head.
Calling it a pile of shit is nowhere short of exaggeration. But believe what you want I guess.

Right now as of march 16, you pay 60 bucks and get 2 tutorial levels and 1 mission. RIP gaming industry.
In my experience as a journalist, some of Joe's interviews have been a little rough but improving. This has to be one of the best ones to date, I thought: Joe seemed more grounded and wasn't so enamored by and singing the game's praises before letting thr interviewee speak. I also loved the persistence, trying to nail the guy to an answer, not being afraid to say "look, I have a problem with this"

Straight up ---- This game is absolutely wonderful despite the always online / episodic content. It's a game best played without hints instead rely upon your creativity and logic. It is the most rewarding game I have ever played. Sending out the love to IO interactive ---- You did a hell of a job.

It turns out that the answer is free updates. All additional content through 2016 will be available to download at no additional cost, with "no DLC or microtransactions".
"It is fully complete at launch but it is not finished," Io boss Hannes Seifert told Videogamer. "What we do is we start the journey on December 8 and what we put out there is going to be a big game. But over the course of 2016 we'll add more locations, more missions and we'll have things like targets that only appear for, say, two days. That's something you can only do in the live world."
Pre-empting concerns, Seifert confirmed that the game won't be Early Access. "Everything we ship on December 8 will be completely finished, it will be a very polished experience. It's also going to be a very big game."
Seifert claims that the base game will be bigger than Hitman: Absolution, and that its biggest levels will be "way bigger" than anything seen in Hitman: Blood Money.
I really like the sound of limited-time, single opportunity missions. It's a challenge that will require Hitman players to go out of their comfort zone-to accept an outcome that they can't engineer into a perfect rating. It's good to now have it confirmed that they'll be a free optional extra on top of the base game. If Hitman is a return to form for Io, 2016 is going to be packed full of virtual assassination.

Notice that when Joe asks about the worries of it being small and being built up with DLC, the guy never answers the question.
Also, when Joe asks about the multi-player, the guy just talks about Contact mode, which exactly answering the question Joe asked.
By avoiding answering, he has confirmed our fears.
Be ready for TONNES of DLC and a not-so-stellar "multiplayer" experience.

Good interview Joe, i agree this scares me because when i buy a game i want THE FULL GAME at release...what if we as gamers are bored 7 months later and don't want to follow up on this game as the year continues and other games come out. I hope other games don't do this.
+Foklaus the very first Hitman game, Hitman: Codename 47 starts off with 47 escaping the lab he was created in, and then eventually coming back to kill Dr. Ortmeyer who created him.
Contracts starts off right after Ortmeyer is killed, you walk past a bunch of 47 clones in that level.
In Blood Money 47 is often referred to as the "bald killer clone", and the story revolves around the politics of cloning.
You were not paying attention to the story. 47 is a clone, the 47th and most successful attempt at creating a perfect human being.

Thanks so much for this interview Joe. Every other interview they never asked about the important stuff and never questioned the approach these guys are taking with the new game. This "add over time" thing sounds like they're trying to tap into the early access market

Pretty sure there's an interview on Playstation Access with Holly where the question around how the game works is answered a lot clearer. Although the crux of what Joe wanted to know still remains a mystery. My understanding (from the Access interview) was that there is narrative but the game isn't driven by it like most games. The sandbox has a ton of missions and the devs will keep supporting it for an unlimited time - adding new missions constantly. The emphasis appears to be on how the game is supporter post-release.
Launch is pretty vital for them so I doubt they'll piss the potential away by giving us very little (initially) to start with it.
It amazes me that the guy he was interviewing tried to twist "we're releasing the game unfinished" into a good thing.

I really like this developer's ideas. I wonder how "Hitman Go" can fit into this world. Will we get added mini missions as the main gameworld evolves.
