    Ship Life is like.....
    • Days of the week become countries
    • You have to turn on the TV to see the weather outside
    • When almost every night as soon as you close your eyes the alarm goes off
    • Happy hour can be every hour.
    • Where you can get drunk for $5 or less in the crew bar.
    • Hangovers can be blamed on seasickness
    • Hours back determine when parties are
    • You haven’t had 10 minutes alone since you walked onboard
    • Arriving at a new country usually consists of sleeping in and finding the free wi-fi
    • Sleeping in?
    • You haven’t known what day of the week it is for 6 months
    • Having a liquid lunch in the crew bar
    • Being solely responsible for tens of thousands of dollars with no sweat
    • Working less than 10 hours is considered to be "an easy day".
    • Partying with your bosses
    • It’s been 4 days since you’ve stepped outside
    • You’ve just spent a 16 hour day with the same people, so you go to dinner and happily spend the rest of the night with them
    • Packing is a nightmare
    • You can survive with one suitcase of cloths for 6 months
    • Seeing the captain at the gym is like seeing a movie star at the supermarket.
    • You smile even if you’re having a bad day
    • When you’re in the real world you stop yourself from saying hello to random people walking past you
    • Walking across the hallway and knocking replaces the need for a mobile phone
    • If you get a job on land you’ll feel naked without a name badge
    • You’re so far from home but seem to be surrounded by your family.
    • You have to be a contortionist to shave your legs
    • When you talk about how to spend your "hours off" not "days off".
    • Trying to identify the food in the crew mess.
    And so much more.....

That first day is always INSANE! I'm a musician on cruise ships, and that first day is just nonstop. Travel from hotel, carting around luggage, paperwork, drills, getting lost, getting confused, orientation meetings, tripping over you and your roommate's open luggage, sound check, trying to fit in a shower and dinner, then the music sets that night.....And then afterwards, best sleep you ever get, haha.

Even as a traveler, the first day is exhausting. We just finished the 70s Rock and Romance cruise. Previous day was a flight from Norfolk to DC to Miami. Then transfer to hotel and get details for trip to ship the next day. Next day is early, get bags ready, get to port, go through all that to get on the ship. have time to explore the ship (even though it was a sister ship of one we'd been on before they did a few modifications), then figure out concert schedule, music from 4PM-midnight, dinner somewhere in between, then finally bed. Just two exhausting days and you're right, great sleep and then day 2 through 7 are much better. I need a vacation after our vacation. LOL

I worked as a chef on carnival cruises. The worsts place to ever work as a chef. They make you work for at least 12-14 hours with no overtime pay. Also you have only half a day off working after working 14 hours a day. It’s like proper labour work

Dragana Sokolovic Honestly it takes somewhat of and entertainment kind of mindset to want to start a RUclips channel on this kind of environment in the first place. Hey Justin! 👋
I wanted to ask you a few things if you didn't mind, just because I don't really have anyone else to ask :'D
My biggest dream is probably working in a cruise ship, I don't really care about in which position or job would I make it.
But the thing is I'd prefer to do it as "room assistant", you know, the
one who brings food from the kitchens to the cabins and provide service
for the customers in everything they need, but the thing is, I've been
researching about it and web pages usually mix this job with cleaning
and housekeeping activities in general. Once I apply for the companies,
how can I tell them that I am not applying for a cleaning job
, but for an attendant one? I don't really know the "technical" word
that I should be using to tell them about this, I thought it was "cabin
steward", but while looking for job opportunities i would always read
in the job description that one of my functions would be the room
cleaning. Is this even possible to happen or there is just strictly not a
chance for someone to get a room attending job without having to clean
    those rooms?
Oh, and also, I didn't mention that I'm still 16 years old but planning
to do this in a few years. Is there something that I actually need to
study for this job?? Maybe the STCW certificates? Or something else?
Because job descriptions usually don't include them as a requirement,
but the only thing they do require is experience.
Hope I get a repply from you bro, I really liked all of your videos! See ya!! :D

Should you be joining with a friend on the same ship within the same department, how likely would it be for you to room together. Is there an option or can you swop to room with your buddy? Thanks so much for the video. Can you do a video on explaining working hours and breaks? no one really explains that on other videos.

Thora Graham Congrats! I bet you’re excited! Normally you would be able to either request a specific room / roommate or switch room but that’s after they assign your first cabin. However, in order to do that you would usually have to work in the same department

Everything else sucked. Worse part was the shitty daily rate.. after 14 hrs it came out around 11.07 dollars an hour... I didnt get to see shit except the pubs. Portland was nice.

Justin! Been loving your channel, videos & live-streams man! As you well know by now I’m about to start my 1st contract on the Bliss as soon as COVID-19 calms down. (Looking forward to that Oreo cheesecake! 😂) Until then, I have been sucking up every ounce of information that you give like a sponge! Trying to learn as much as I can before I board the ship! I feel like I have a million questions to ask you! lol Some of which you already answered during a live stream which I appreciate so much!
Other answers I’m finding to be in some of your older videos which is very helpful so I really don’t mind watching your older vids! I have actually made a list of questions. lol I’m just not sure the easiest way contact you to where you’ll see them. I’m sure you’re flooded with tons emails & questions on a regular basis. If you have a preferred way to contact you I would love to ask you a few more questions if you don’t mind? Hope to talk to you soon! Take care man and thanks again for doing what you do! Peace! ✌🏼

Great videos, so much information and humor. Just some questions...
    1) Is your crew cabin assigned to you, or once you get on a ship, it's more like a first-come-first-serve type of choosing?
    2) If you're bunking with another crew member, do they have to be the same sex as you or can there be like a coed type of cabin?

-did you go to college or did you go straight to working on a cruise
-do you work everyday for all your 6 months
-when do you get to leave the ship??
-Which spot for you think is a good spot for someone new
-do you have to pay to get on the cruise for your job or is it free??
i probably have more but that’s the basics i think

    Hey Justin,
Just found your channel, and you give some good information. I am an American looking for a position at sea. I haven't been successful so far, but I refuse to give up. My question is, how did you apply when you first decided you wanted to work on a cruise ship? I have a feeling that aside from cruise lines wanting to hire people from other countries first, there may be something I'm doing wrong in my application package. Any information you can give on how to apply and what to expect during the interview process?
    Thanks.
