Chris, you don't need to compare yourself to others. You are not 'behind'... there is no master schedule of where you should be and when you should be there. We each have our own path and you are EXACTLY where you need to be right now. What's next, well that is up to you.... Find your passion, and go for it.... Whatever that is.

Hey Chris! Longtime viewer here and wanted to put my 2 cents in. I could already tell something was a bit off during the first half of the video and it all made sense after watching the second half. Ten years working on cruise contracts is not a trivial amount of time given how "on" the crew needs to be at all times. You do realize that through RUclips you've built a large fan base and community that will support you no matter what you decide to do right?
You have a skill for creating content that will keep even a low attention span person like me watching and that's saying a lot.
You are an asset to Royal Caribbean and they would be idiots not to utilize your skill set and charisma in their marketing department. I'm sure you have a lot of contacts within the company after all this time so put some feelers out or call in some favors!
In the meantime, take a deep breath, relax, and eat some chocolate cake!

It's funny you say "his youtube community will support him no matter what". That is clearly not true. While this video has above 126k views. His new video's don't reach above 45k. Not enough to make a living, and certainly not the 'youtube community supporting him no matter what'.

I don’t usually comment on RUclips videos but felt I had to on this occasion.
I’m 33 and because of your videos that helped me get to where I am now I’m currently waiting to start my first ever contract on board a ship which hopefully will be within the next month now so age doesn’t matter. Everyone lives different lives so don’t feel because you are not doing things your friends are that you are falling behind. What you are currently doing may be a dream to many people working while traveling the world.
All I’d say is always do what makes you happy. If your time has come to an end you want to work onboard then maybe figure out what passions you have and go forward with them weather it be traveling or so on and continue to vlog with RUclips as you certainly have a passion for that. Good luck in whatever you end up doing and thanks for the many many videos onboard that as I said helped me prepare and get me through the process and what to expect.

Spend non of it on what no longer brings you pleased, joy and hope.
Sending you blessings of love, light, and clarity on your new path and adventure. 🎉 thank you❤

Hey Chris. It's natural for people's priorities to change over time.
There's a saying, "familiarity breeds contempt". Noone can say you have contempt for the role (we can all see, that's not what you're like), while you may have previously been really enthusiastic about the role, and the ships you've been on, it's now familiar, and the novelty is wearing off.
With this contract, you have the luxury of time. You don't need to rush into any decisions. While people may make suggestions and offer support, it's your own decision to make. There are no right or wrong decisions. Just...
Just sleep on it, and take your time with it.

I feel in our 20’s we have all the answers and energy and social skills that move us along. The 30’s you discover the questions and find some things immature and tiring. You’re evolving and becoming more conscious of the world and people. My life wouldn't have been nearly as fulfilling as it has been if I would have just settled for the status quo in my early 30's. My life took a major positive direction down the path that has brought me here at about age 36. I believe the best is yet to come for you. Being well-traveled, you'll be far more interesting than many of your peers! 🙂

Oh, Chris, you are a good man. You are not falling behind you are reaching out to your future. In my scenario, I see Chris back home with his friends, opening a travel agency specializing in cruising, buying a house, and starting a family and being with those that you love. Plus, you can cruise anytime you want and bring all of that information back to your travel agency. Having a long-distance relationship cruising on a seven month contract is pretty darn hard. If you were my son, I would be so proud of you and how open you are with your heart. Well this is coming from a great grandma of 79 years old so I’ve been around a while. As I listened to you "ponder" at the end of the video, some of what you're experiencing is probably because you're growing older, perhaps yearning for a family (of course I could be mistaken), and perhaps a bit lonely, despite having all the people - both crew and passengers - around. These are the things you will need to determine as you move through the contract. While you're doing that, continue enjoying what you're doing right now. Having been a Naval Officer, I remember some of these feelings when I was in my early years and based on those feelings, and being a newlywed as I started that career, I made some hard choices. I regret none of it, as my life has played out well. Still married to that "bride" after over 40 years, completed my Naval career in the reserves, and leveraged what I learned while at sea into marvelous career choices ashore. I enjoy your posts so keep your chin up. Your future is bright.

I have to say, that I have been waiting impatiently for your next video. Been checking your vlog everyday. Things have changed so much on cruise ships, I figured Royal Caribbean has been working your butt off. Total understand your enthusiasm for the job has ebbed. So many new cruise employees hired lately, so much more expected of them. I can feel the difference every time I cruise. I think you were smart to pick a ship that takes you to Europe. New ports, new experiences, I hope you find a happy reset when you get to the Mediterranean. Currently, you're feeling the constraints of working while still trying to embrace the opportunity to explore the places you visit. Tough balance, the "I have to get back to the ship" mentality, means you can't really relax in port. FOMO should be the last worry on your mind. You're done more in your 30's than most people do in a lifetime. Happiness is a choice, not a destination.

Hi, Chris. Don't be discouraged by your current feelings. It's called growing up and moving on. When we're young, some of us look for adventure-- your cruising career. Every new experience was exciting. Now that you have been working in the industry for so long, it's hard to find a new experience. This is very normal. I have always told my kids to keep an open mind, think about the life you want, where you want to live, what career interests you, and most importantly, what type of schedule do you want: days, nights, no weekends, in an office, outside or a combo of both. I'm sure the new direction will bring the adventure back. Day to day life on land can be exciting too.
Good luck in whatever you choose!!

When the passion for things leaves, it’s hard to find where it will come back again. I hope you find it. You did ask for “advice,” and I don’t want to steal anyone’s epiphany, but if Royal offers any kinds of counseling services for crew, that may be an option. There are also online options you can use when you’re in port, etc. It’s always a journey through the valleys, and it’s easy to sit and just let the fog settle over. Moving out of it is a hard choice and many are rooting for you.

You are helping people at work as a Casino Host and you are helping people on here. Everyone on here and on the cruise you work on is on their own journey assigned by the Lord. I compare myself sometimes too and I feel down, because I don't have kids and other do. Please don't compare yourself to others. Think about what you GET to do each day instead of what you HAVE to do. You are showing future and present guests how safe RCCL is on their ships. You are showing them St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Miami, Alaska - some places some people may never get to travel to. You are a blessing to many people. Continue to think positively and have fun! Remember this, the devil is always trying to be someone down and making them feel bad or negatively. Think POSITIVE.

The RUclips channel that you had grown is based on your cruise and the experience of sharing it with other people and giving them ideas. Things that you're talking about seems to be very uncertain of what you want to do and you had forgotten in the things that you've accomplished. If you're at that age and time that you feel that there's things that need to be done just remember the consequences of the things that you may lose on your subscribers or just in general people are not going to seem to be interested in anything that you do because they're interested in what you do now. That's what gives you your base and the excitements of the things that you do

You have a heart of gold. As disappointingly cliche as it may sound, this is the true foundation for success - in many forms - in the long game of life.
Despite so much of the advice to the contrary, it’s not only okay to make comparisons from time to time, it can also be very beneficial. Analogous to the fixation and hype around the evils vs. not acknowledging the benefits of social media scale, velocity, and influence. And not being a hypocrite about the profound benefits of perspective, which fundamentally require making thorough comparisons.
You’ve already accomplished quite a bit in your young life; in depth, breadth, and uniqueness. And look at the outpouring of love in these comments! That bedrock will never be taken away from you. Keep up this great attitude around humility, productively questioning everything, contribution … and gratitude.

I have been a crew member for a major airline for over 28 years. Things were different pre-pandemic and have seen the changes. The traveling aspect of the job has let me see places I thought I would never see . I wouldn’t change it for the world. Although, airline crew and ship crew are completely different, i love what i do. Bringing people together!! I also became a content creator on RUclips and found my niche. I love cruising and began our journey filming our experiences and sharing it with world! We all have our individual paths!! At times, it is best to go with the flow. I feel you are right where you belong at the current moment. When the time comes to make a big move, you will definitely know it. Thanks for your vloggs. Ironically, I fly to UK often, feels like my second home. Take your journeys and make them your greatest life experiences. God bless buddy! Jay and Luis, Bxjourneys 😊

hey. Been watching the video, and yours for several years. If I can be so presumptiious as to suggest, if I were you, I would be looking to join a production company that travels. Maybe you wont get much money but you will learn and it will be a break from what you are doing now, that seems to be old hat for you. I know you like YT, and right now I doubt that Google is even offering new employment, but your experience will certainly be worthwhile for some organization. One thing you need to decide as you go foward, is do you want to be an individual contribuor, or manager., Both tracks are fine, just different. You should also contact RC management now and see what, if anything they might be able to suggest to you. They are a multi billion $$ company and you seem to be someone who has been a valuable member of their team. Whatever you do, look at how you can make this the last tour where you are a casino asst. manager. (Again hope I am not to pesuptious, but you did share so I thought I wouild comment.

I'm a fan forever. Maybe one day I will have the pleasure to meet in person. If you decide to choose a different career, I understand. You've been doing this for a long time and I'm sure you may want to start a family one day or find someone special to share everything else with them. Looks like you have an amazing career. One that I had thought about doing a numbers of years back. But I chose to stay in Las Vegas, Nevada and continue to work as a casino host also. I did love the job. But I can totally relate with you that as time goes by and things change. It is unfortunate that we lose the excitement and will to keep moving forward. After about 17 years, I just could no longer do what I once enjoyed doing every day.

Only you can decide what and where you want to be. I’m sure you have made some sacrifices to live a life at sea even with as much as you have enjoyed it. Hi Chris, loved this video. I loved seeing St. Maarten. When I was there in 1979 NONE of that was there. I was cruising on the QE2 and it was our first stop. We got off the tender at the shore and walked up a short distance, where a few locals were there selling souvenirs and tours. Amazing to see what it is now. You do sound like you are definitely ready for a new chapter in your life. I don't think it's unusual at your age to be ready for something else. After 10 years you have been here and done this. Now time to move on, using all the experience and ability you have gained from this career. From watching and listening to you I think whether you work for yourself, or someone else you will be a success. ATTITUDE AND ABILITY ARE EVERYTHING and I believe you excel at both. 👍🙂

Chris, I just discovered your Vlog tonight and have subscribed, watched and liked your videos; it's quite a different perspective for me as someone who has been on 14 cruises in my life. To answer your question on whether you're on the right road...Know that you bring a great perspective to the behind the scenes world of being on the crew of a major cruise line. No one can tell you what you SHOULD do when you're questioning what you might do next in your life and career. Only YOU can decide if your passion is still there to be a crew member and post as a such with your experiences. Having said that, take some time to yourself to meditate on what else you might want to do. You said that all those around you are buying a house and thinking of having kids. Is that for you? Or is what you're great at with your Vlogs good for you? I'm almost 60 and I can tell you that you're life is adventurous. Decide if you want to end the adventure and be regular. As for me and what your endeavors, I'm 100% jealous. I like what you do and I admire your Vlog. Thank you!

As a mom I think you are doing what was best for you after your break up. Getting up and going back to the cruise industry at that time brought you out of the dumps. If you feel you really have had enough, think about what you would like to do next. There is no book written as to what to do at a certain age. You do a great job at your work, so why not continue until the right next move comes along. I feel a new lady in your life will help you make your next move and put some excitement back into your life. Good Luck. You are a great guy
