It's weird. I really can't see anyone else in that role. Closest i could think of, was Jake Gyllenhaal. But he doesn't have that neat awkwardness in the same way. Rami was a perfect fit.

@@thanossnap4170 Gyllenhaal is one of the absolute best actors of this era like top 3. He can pull off literally anything with such a huge huge range. However I agree that Malek was born to play this role and no one could have done it better.

Interesting fact, Rami Malek is the only actor to have won both the Oscar for best lead male performance in a movie, and the Emmy for best lead male performance for television! Through all the years of those awards there have been winners of both but only in a combination of supporting or guest appearance to go with the Oscar.

YES ! When I saw him for the first time in season 1 he reminds me Christian bale : young, rich, pretty, narcissic.

probably one of the most diverse and interesting narcissistic characters. the way his character is written seems like there‘s been a lot of influence by american psycho and wolf of wall street, etc.
I think that actually the two characters are quite the opposite. Bateman behaved like a cold machine with no real interest in the other human beings while Tyrell has always been driven by emotions and feelings for other people, like the love for his family and the love/ admiration for Elliot.
Also, Bateman was described as a completely useless man looking for success, Tyrell was a self made man who almost became CTO despite his young age thanks to his skills. And Bateman was a serial killer.
Yes, both of them liked expensive suits and lived in luxury apartments in Manhattan but that is not enough to make them similar. And yes, it is true that they tried to present Tyrell like a modern Bateman, but I think that was a deceiving technique to present a charachter.

Here in 2020 watching this because Mr Robot season 4 got snubbed.
I know. Mr Robot was better than every other nominee this year. The awards go to whatever is hot and new, not necessarily what was best in last seasons shows. Mr Robot is a show that will transcend time. It is so rewatchable. Season four stuck the landing and ended the series beautifully. Best series of the last decade along with Breaking Bad. Rami so should have won the Emmy this year for season four episode seven alone.
@@lehcaraz1 The fact that Rami didn't even get nominated for that episode is shameful. I just finished watching Season 4 and am still shook by how good it was.
