Yes, this really works... I'm studying Pimsleur right now and they asked, "What time is it?" and the answer was 两点差五分。(5 minutes before 2 o'clock) so downstairs rinsing out my coffee cup in the kitchen I remembered what you said and simply started substituting other times. 五点差十分, 两点差一刻 ...等等 -(Ten minutes to five, quarter to two...etc) And as you said, since you're basing the substitutions on a "known grammatically correct model", the chances of substitutions being incorrect are reduced... this really works Will thank you!

Your videos are great, really helpful. If you could 说大声点 it would be perfect (I have to turn the volume up like 5x, and even then it’s still really faint.)

Hi Will, First of all, I just wanted to say that what you've managed to achieve in such a short amount of time is nothing short of astounding, and in my opinion has set a new standard in language learning. While I agree with those who have noted your amazing speaking skills, what I find most mind-blowing is that you were able to begin understanding native-level movies and podcasts in about 6 months. After watching your interview with Rita early this summer, I became inspired by you to start using Anki. However, I was hoping for more information on the specifics of your technique...lo-and-behold, last month ago I found your RUclips channel, and since then, have been trying out your methods. I have a few remaining questions:
    (1) How do you use audio? Do you put it on the front or back? If someone is really focusing on listening/speaking, it would be great to have a "fill-in-the-blank" audio card. But this isn't possible (unless that person is unusually skilled at editing audio). So either the front of the card has to be written/typed with the audio on the back (so that the flashcard doesn't train listening), or the audio is put on the front of the card where it gives away the answer. I don't see a way out of this dilemma.
    (2) Did you change any of the default card settings? For example, I heard people making changes so that if they forget an old card and hit the "again" button, it doesn't treat it like a completely new word so they have to see it again the next day.
    (3) I'm really looking forward to the next video. I think in the first video you said that you will reveal your method for not making the same mistake again, right? I remember you mentioning in your video with Rita that you would take the mistakes you made that your friend corrected, and put them into Anki immediately. I can think of various ways to make a flashcard for this purpose, but I'm not sure which, if any of them, is good - I'm curious about how you do it. It would certainly be amazing to not make the same mistake twice, so I'm definitely looking forward to that 3rd video!

Hi there, thanks so much for the comment! I'm glad what I'm doing has been helpful, I think the best way for me to answer your questions would probably to make some more videos, because I'm sure you're not the only one. I'm currently preparing for the world competition 全球汉语桥比赛,so I can't make those videos until after that. I hope I can answer your questions ASAP.

For beginners, is it possible to force yourself not to translate? Don’t you have to at least translate to get the general meaning. Maybe it’s a matter of translating phrase by phrase or sentence by sentence instead of word for word?

It's very difficult when you're a beginner but just try your best and when you get to an intermediate level it gets a lot easier
