If the MFA program teaches you the basics why do they require a media sample in the application? Doesn’t that imply that some film knowledge is required to get in
Ahh wonderful point! I will have to agree it’s nice to have a core foundation when it comes to making that application sample. But in my honest opinion the story is so worth much more. Because again they all understand everyone’s level of filmmaking is different and like you said you will learn everything there in the MFA program so they are not focused on the technicality of your sample but rather the story and what you have to say that is unique to ONLY YOU :D

Do u have any tips for making a portfolio?
Hmm I’d say just include all your work small or big. Experience is experience so anything that is film related or anything collaborative would help
