My beautiful girl. You just don’t know how wonderful it is for a mother to watch her child challenge herself and makes plans for challenges in the future and then go out and accomplish her goals. You make me so so proud kid. I love you 😘❤️
Sounds like you have some exciting plans! For the knee, I had knee pain both on the outside of my knee (lateral knee pain during flexion is a good search term for research) as well as a small bit directly in front. From experience, I knew that was my IT band being really tight. This was basically an overuse injury after my 100k. Running over 12min/mile or steep downs the knee would hurt and feel like it would “catch” or want to collapse. Percussion massaging the upper IT band attachment point and taking a hard plastic roller to the outer leg and quad down by the knee has made it a lot better. Ice did help a little. Not sure if that helps you at all, the point was more that knee pain can be a symptom of a problem that is somewhere else. Enjoy your speed work!
Thank you! I have some pain in front of my knee, but mostly it was near the inside. The inside is gone now, but sometimes it’ll hurt in the front when i squat. I should really roll and stretch more 😬 but it’s so hard to get myself to do for some reason. How long until you felt the overuse injury had went away?
A 5K sounds like a great place to get back to running Jade - focusing on improving speed and perfecting those smaller races. Any plans for career/college, what you are working toward for a profession, would like to do for a career, etc?
i just graduated college! Actually I skipped graduation to run the 50k 😂 but my degree is in computer information systems and hopefully i will find some remote/hybrid work near the end of summer! what about you if you don’t mind my asking?
