Yes you can, I use chicken breast all the time for it and it comes out very moist and as good as using chicken thighs, I think it depends what chicken you have at the moment but both work

Thats not how to cook chicken teriyaki you have to marinate the chickens in Miri and sake and soy sauce for one hour at least

Proper teriyaki doesn't have sugar in it. The only sweetener is mirin.
