  • We leave Magazine and head towards Cadiz anchoring for the night before going and exploring the city by foot. We had intended on staying two nights but as this was the Orca attack hotspot we decided to take advantage of the flat seas snd leave for Barbate where we get some exciting news.
We are a family of five with plans for an epic adventure, sailing around the world. We have bought a boat we have to gut it, rebuild it, sell all of our possessions and have t he guts to cast off. Follow our adventures.

Bless! We too have been moved to tears many times in our sailing careers- and it's always a left sider that swipes you in the gut! Barbate holds a strange memory for us-we bought tickets for their tuna festival with no understanding of what we were in for-a night of more tuna than one human being should ever be exposed to. Presented in more forms than you can possibly imagine. Accompanied by a band of strolling players going from table to table engaging the clients, in Spanish, in the history of the industry. Backdropped by the fake interior of a great Spanish Galleon which had, projected on the 'hull', black and white films of ancient tuna hunts in all their gore to accompany the meal-Wild! I look forward to hearing about the adventures you will be having in the coming months. Thanks for taking us along.

Congratulations all, on making it so far on your big adventure! Everyone seems to be having a good time. Your children still have a sense of wonder about the world, which should prepare them for challenges ahead. A sailing family really is a crew who work together. Us land-based 21st Century gangs don't usually get to spend so much time enjoying, teaching and supporting each-other through early life.
Again Kelvin's music works so well as you tell your story. Your narration is well crafted, clear and precise, but I wouldn't mind hearing a little more from any of the children, as they're obviously full working crew-members, and not pampered first-class passengers. I dare say other youngsters would enjoy hearing them describe snippets of life afloat. Safe travels all. 👍🙂
