Rod Jackson is a real excellent motherfucker bastad singer. But he was so addicted, so that was the big problem. And Slash was a lot more sober back then and that was his contribution to getting Rod out of the band.
that's a kickass solo, when you think slash is going to end with those crazy bends, he just starts playing more and more, and then he finally puts an end for this fantastic solo
I've always wished that this band could have made it big, and stayed together! It's very rare that you see a connection like this band had! Rod Jackson had one of the most incredible voices of all time, the rough in your face sound that rock definitely needs, not to mention that I've never heard another musician sound like him because his voice is just that dam unique! Myles is a good singer, but he is no where close to Rod and definitely the best singer of all time! Just look at the covers he done of Rod's not even close! Myles seems like he doesn't want to push himself or try different things!
I really love rod's voice, but unfortunately this is basically the only time u ever really hear from him and Eric Dover was a underrated vocalist as well! Slash really can tell a good vocalist from the rest! I really wish he would bring back velvet or snakepit on the side!? can anyone tell me the deal with the is it only a reunion for this tour or is it permanent?
I think all the singers slash has worked with sound good. Some better than others, but that's just my opinion. A few factors. As humans age our bodies change. That's a given. Then you add drugs, stress, getting past our prime. When we put all these elements together. . . We're not going to sound like we're 25 for ever. Just saying.
how can you not like this song ?! - Slash is AMAZING when it comes to music, and that singers voice makes me slobber !! I've never heard anything like it !
Wow, this song just grabbed me, first time listen, and wow, I mean I've been GnR fan for years, I also like VR, but snakepit, I found them just today :)
He now sings for a band called Razorball. I actually have one of their songs on my Artwork Combo 2 video. You don't have to actually watch the video or anything, but just listen to the song. Rod is awesome.
I completely agree. Rod Jackson is my all time favorite rock vocalist. Btw, if you haven't checked it out already, you should look into the current band he's with, Razorball. They even have a myspace page with a few of their songs.
Slash's Snakepit was amazing and this was slash at his best. This is the kind of music slash wanted to do from the beginning, lucky he joined Guns tho since he made that band to the greatest of all times.
Man, all the stuff Slash has made from Slash's Snakepit to VR would've been great GN'R records but he does have a knack for knowing a great voice such as Rod Jackson in this video. Fucking hell Axl, you had to be such a hard ass, but that just gave us Snakepit and VR, jokes on you!
Slash decided to start a temporary solo project called "Slash's Snakepit" (Matt Sorum, Gilby Clarke and Dizzy Reed also participated to that). Snakepit released an album and went on tour in 1995. After that Slash returned to GNR to work on the new album but the relationship with Axl was not working anymore, so Slash officially announced he was leaving in 1996. Duff and Matt Sorum quickly followed. Gilby was out too.
You make good points. Guns appealed to the masses because of the whole package. It's mainstrem rock. I was into them before they broke big. Those early days of Appetite are my favorite.
He created snakepit because he composed a lot of songs that axl didn't want for GNR, so he used them for the first snakepit record ;) Which was first supposed to be just for fun...to do something while waiting to record the next GNR record ;)
LYRICS: You're dissin' me, I never show it But you're always getting into my head, dismissin' me I let you do it but you're doin' it In front of your friends I'm not your doormat, I'm not the leader of a kick-you When you're down on crusade, I want no part of that I hear the rumors, goin' round that I'm not that man I'm tired of playin' dumb I'm tired of being pushed around And if you think that I'm goin' soft Here come some hard times I got one mean bone in my body I got one mean bone in my hand You are a parasite, you latched on And now I'm up to my neck in pain All we do is fight, you bitch and moan so much I think I need a hearing aid My love won't overcome The way you put me down And if you think that I'm goin' soft Here come some hard times I got one mean bone in my body I got one mean bone in my hand
im reading the book for the second time and i don't remember the contract being signed...i just remember he said that he left the band and refused to sign a contract and then Axl making a law suite about it and "winning" the name
Which of Slash's bands was/is your favorite! $@-&??,! If SS which line up? ?@#!!? I actually like all of his bands myself, I'll have to think on that for a second myself! &$@?!
@DbRarefactionCurve Cool man! Very cool! I want to hear some of that session work, because I love Rod's voice, it's so powerful! But would be awesome,if Rod join with VR because a strong voice just like as Rod's voice, would fit perfectly with what VR are looking for.. If you are a friend of him, can you tell me if he thought about this possibility?
I love this shit!! Love the moves from Slash ( :52 ) , the Angus Young knockoff move from the Rythym guitarist, and the singers cross walk on the stage at the end. But really, I love the fucking riffs and sound to the song. This is what rock n' roll needs to be!!
@pelotudio no by this time tommy was with his post-replacements band, Bash and Pop, most people don't even realize he was in the best band from the 80s .
They where couple of friends who messed around and made songs in a room at slash's house. Becouse this room was filled with a lot of snakes and such they called the room slash's snakepit. The name stucked and when they made a record they just used that name.
Not to be forceful with my opinion or anything, but I'd just like to say that it seems to me Snakepit actually produced great songs from the first to last track on both albums unlike GnR, as can be seen with a number of the songs on the Use Your Illusions albums (as an example). Rod fronting the new VR would be the most satisfying thing that's happened to a band in years.
@Stephenkahn1 it all depends if he's still a junkie or if he's kicked the habit. Slash doesn't get on with him anymore. But he has an awesome voice and it suits the music perfectly. Just a kick ass album from start to finish, one of my top three for sure.
I wonder what happened to Rod. he hasn't gotten another big gig since the Snakepit. Is he hard to work with? ego? drugs? prima donna? such a shame. Great voice and a good lyricist.
The two Snakepit albums were just sideprojects for everyone involved. They didnt intend to stay in that lineup. But you are right, its a shame they didnt stay together. In my opinion two of the best rock albums in the 90s.
im not gonna say which band is better between Guns n roses, velvet revolver or Slash's snakepit, but if u liked any of this bands its because the all 3 have(had) one element and thats Slash.
I honestly think that Snakepit it way better than Gnr because it's just pure rock, and axl took the band away from that sound totally! Pure raw RNR is definitely what was needed at that time when grunge was taking over, no wonder people say rock is dead! Every era there is only one a couple of bands that try to keep pure rock alive! Thank god for Stone Sour, Halestorm, etc. that are trying to keep it alive!
I agree. This was Slash's best band ever. We saw them open for AC/DC then went to see them a couple of week later at a little 2000-seat club called "pops" in east St Louis. Great show. Rod Jackson was incredible as a front man. Much better than the "velvet revolver" lead man Scott Weiland. I don't know if he sold out or what, but he should have stayed with this arrangement. It was top musicians doing what they love.
This so much looks like some guys had come together for making music for fun, instead of being a supergroup or some BS like that; and that's the best part IMO. But the intro is good indeed; I miss it, too.
you probably know, if you've read slash's book, that this project was worked on when G'N'R went quiet after the illusions albums and just before G'N'R broke up.... then slash had this band to fall back on, this song was on the album after Slash left G'N'R.
you know i just realized the chorus to this song is really similar to velvet revolvers dirty little things chorus, only slash can get away with that without anyone actually noticing
this was actually slash getting away from the GNR drama and pumping out his stress through rough and tough songs. It all started with him and a few friends just jamming. P.S. Slash looks like a clown
Slash has a good ear and a good viseral feel for bends and nuanced attack on the instrument. These special skills have put him into a niche of circumstance where he could have otherwise developed a wider experience on guitar. There's stuff that slash doesn't do. He doesn't use open chords or octaves much. He doesn't fingerpick or fret tap. There's no slide work or non-standard tunings. His sense of chord seris is lacking and he probably can't notate or transcribe music. That stuff rocks.
Hey guys, I've just finished reading Slash's trip of a book and he says that Rod Jackson was a great singer but had serious personal issues.....sad, the guy rocks!
More like the Band was called Snakepit but they wanted Slashs name in it for the sales, also there were a band called ''snakepit'' before them ;D even if not with that great of a lineup ^^
Ain't Life Grand is a very under-rated record.
👌👌👌👌
I like ir a lot
Rod Jackson is a real

One of Slash's best songs post GN'R.
whole project
Rod jackson has a powerful voice
underrated
I fuckin love it
Grit, power, and sass. Nuff said! ! !

that's a kickass solo, when you think slash is going to end with those crazy bends, he just starts playing more and more, and then he finally puts an end for this fantastic solo
so true ☝️☝️☝️☝️🤔😉😉😉🧞♂️💡💡🔧🔧
What ever happened to Rod? That man was / probably still is PHENOMENAL!
He did a cool CD with 3 Of A Different Kind, look it up, Big SWede Records and he's still recording
This is the most epic break up song ever! Love it!
I've always wished that this band could have made it big, and stayed together! It's very rare that you see a connection like this band had! Myles seems like he doesn't want to push himself or try different things!
VERY reminiscent of Steve Marriot of Humble Pie...
one of the best songs off the album. in my opinion this album is the best of the 00's. listen to it all the time!
I really love rod's voice, but unfortunately this is basically the only time u ever really hear from him and Eric Dover was a underrated vocalist as well! @@frankspikes4867 Yapp, look what happened with Axl. His howling high vocal range is no more.
We need this type of sound/music back!!!
thank you gods for letting me see this in person. And a hand shake from Slash. it was in Hawaii.
wow slash, one of the best guitar players ever to walk on this planet keep rockin!!!
how can you not like this song ?! - Slash is AMAZING when it comes to music, and that singers voice makes me slobber !! I've never heard anything like it !
Hey Baby... Best Snakepit song ever!
Snakepit best Band

He now sings for a band called Razorball. I actually have one of their songs on my Artwork Combo 2 video. You don't have to actually watch the video or anything, but just listen to the song. Rod is awesome.
Genial!
Todo lo que slash toca es una droga,
Está canción y el disco están de lujo
This fucking album kicks ass, and is one of the best rock albums of 2000's.
🤣🤣🤣🤣👎🏼
Rod jacksons voice is just amazing in this song, its so blusey :) love it! one of snakepits greatest songs, and slash is just a god
Everything about slashs snakepit was amazing. Defo my favourite band slash has had. Serial Killer was my personal favourite
I am 12 years late, but totally agree with the description. Snakepit kicks a**!!! One of my all-time favorite songs.
I completely agree. Rod Jackson is my all time favorite rock vocalist.
Btw, if you haven't checked it out already, you should look into the current band he's with, Razorball. They even have a myspace page with a few of their songs.

Wow I like this! I'll like any music that SlaSH produces with any band or singer cause I like his pure raw rock inspirations!
this song made my soul sing... Love it
Ken, eres el unico que enseña a cantar con el ejemplo, los demás hacen,

just recently started to listen to the Snake Pit era of Slash's career. Man, I wish I'd found this earlier!! This singer is awesome!!
Awsome power!

LYRICS:
You're dissin' me, I never show it
But you're always getting into my head, dismissin' me
I let you do it but you're doin' it
In front of your friends
I'm not your doormat, I'm not the leader of a kick-you
When you're down on crusade, I want no part of that
I hear the rumors, goin' round that I'm not that man
I'm tired of playin' dumb
I'm tired of being pushed around
And if you think that I'm goin' soft
Here come some hard times
I got one mean bone in my body
I got one mean bone in my hand
You are a parasite, you latched on
And now I'm up to my neck in pain
All we do is fight, you bitch and moan so much
I think I need a hearing aid
My love won't overcome
The way you put me down
And if you think that I'm goin' soft
Here come some hard times
I got one mean bone in my body
I got one mean bone in my hand
Still the best song EVER !!
Rod Jacksonღ MmMmmmmm
just saying ヅ
I love this one too-but really love the instrumental "Watch This"--Turn it up to max volume-one of Slasher's best!!
This song is so good, it makes Velvet Revolver cry in shame. Thanks Slash for this song, I love it. Rock on bro.
His voice has such a great tonality. 👍
Man! I burned this album! Why did they stop anyway? They were brilliant

Rod...without a doubt
Roxann Campbell I go with slash feat Myles and the conspirators
This line up of Snakepit followed by Myles & Co, then first line up of Snakepit, then Gn'R and VR last.
I love slash`s kickass solo here and the voice of the vocal realy did a great job
SLASH!!!
"After GnR and before VR there was Snakepit better than both his other bands IMO " - hell fuckin yeah!!!!
@Danyanz I think it's the scene group who rips and releases the music videos
The way the riffing on the chorus is put together is tiiiiiiiiits!!!!
Dream gig lineup: Slash's Snakepit (this very lineup), The Wildhearts and Danko Jones. Would anybody else tag along?
amazing. The best thing slash has done
@jonovips13, his new solo album was with a load of different singers but yeah Ozzy did a track with him called "Crucify The Dead"
@DbRarefactionCurve Cool man! Very cool! I want to hear some of that session work, because I love Rod's voice, it's so powerful! But would be awesome,if Rod join with VR because a strong voice just like as Rod's voice, would fit perfectly with what VR are looking for.. legendary
If you like Rod's voice, look up Razorball (the band) on myspace. He's currently doing the vocals for their band.
They shouldn't have cut the beginning rant out. That set up the story of the song perfectly.
Great song. Slash just wanted to rock-out and he did.
I love this shit!! Love the moves from Slash ( :52 ) , the Angus Young knockoff move from the Rythym guitarist, and the singers cross walk on the stage at the end. But really, I love the fucking riffs and sound to the song. This is what rock n' roll needs to be!!

Just bought Slash's new solo album and I haven't stopped listening to it since!
Oh, Rod Jackson... I would love to be in a band with him

@rogatoga It says After GnR and before Vr in desc
I wish the Snakepit would put out another album..
And wow, is his voice ever amazing.
@Stephenkahn1 it all depends if he's still a junkie or if he's kicked the habit. Slash doesn't get on with him anymore. But he has an awesome voice and it suits the music perfectly. Just a kick ass album from start to finish, one of my top three for sure.

I love the 2nd Snakepit album. Personally I believe this is one of the best tracks slash has been involved in.
I think that its safe to say that we don't care who the singer is for VR they just need one!
there's a kind of swagger to Snakepit tracks, love 'em
YEAH I agree! He should sing with VR, he has such a powerful voice! Great singer!
The two Snakepit albums were just sideprojects for everyone involved. They didnt intend to stay in that lineup. But you are right, its a shame they didnt stay together. In my opinion two of the best rock albums in the 90s.
After hearing the guitar solo, I'm convinced that this is the closest thing to Guns 'n Roses 2000 that we'll ever get.
@Danyanz Rage is the Australian music channel that this video was ripped from
im not gonna say which band is better between Guns n roses, velvet revolver or Slash's snakepit, but if u liked any of this bands its because the all 3 have(had) one element and thats Slash.

I like both but there's no way that Snakepit are better than the GN'R of Appetite & Illusions.

@plokplokersable do u have an link to he in 2009 concert? i cant find any please link it

@rocha93r hell yes, whatever happened to him? This CD was so f'n awesome especially the song 'Serial Killer'
you know i just realized the chorus to this song is really similar to velvet revolvers dirty little things chorus, only slash can get away with that without anyone actually noticing
LOL, I love that primitive CGI snake at the begining.
its interesting to hear how this is halfway between gnr and vr....its like the two mashed together
@Jaimzz666 i thought he was the original singer of velet revolver cause didnt slash take him to slashes snakepit after he played in velvet revolver
WOW - i never actually listened to Snakepit but this is great.
Rod has got one fuckin mean-ass bone in his body, and the voice that fits slash' les paul so good, just sooo goood! DAMN
Rod Jackson has a fucking amazing voice, incredibly distinctive
I can't believe I haven't heard this befores! It rocks!!
Me da años de vida
this was actually slash getting away from the GNR drama and pumping out his stress through rough and tough songs.
@palitodlselva me estas cargando?? fuiste a ver a slash y no conocias el repertorio completo? hereje!
Hey guys, I've just finished reading Slash's trip of a book and he says that Rod Jackson was a great singer but had serious personal issues.....sad, the guy rocks!
I woulda loved to hear prime axl with the scream after "HEY BABY"
