  • I was gifted a lump of pallet wood (cheers bro - xmas gift expert!) so I'm going to make a basic tealight candle holder. Standard stuff. The pallet wood isn't great...I think it is from a 'Plane' tree (?)... but it does have provenance; It came from South Korea on a cargo ship where it was used in steel stacking. I never said it had good provenance...!
Anyhoo, I also clean a cheapo hand plane and get to use my new fancy drill press.

Great job as usual. Looked hard wood to work with.

That is a super nice little drill press! Bosch evidently makes a lot of tools that are not available here in the states! Your recovery after the fourth hole blew out reminded me of the Monty Python movie “life of Brian” back in the 70’s, in particular the scene where Moses was carrying three stone tablets of commandments. Each one had 5 commandments on it, but he dropped the last one, breaking it into little pieces! Rather than admit his mistake, he told the people that these were the the Ten Commandments! Ha! Nice job!

Nice one, Tom! I did it intentionally to enable this reference, honest.

@@SimplyWoodworking The man that taught me to weld 40 odd years ago always said it’s not counted as a mistake as long you can recover! No mistakes here! It was intended to be a three flamer from the beginning! Right? (you certainly can’t blame the drill press, so let’s go with the tri-candle design!) That fourth hole was intended to warm up the bit before starting the keepers!

Look at that beauty of a machine! I bet you go in there at night to just look at it and hug it? Tea light holder looks super smooth
