That there are millions of consumers who will enjoy it, and pay money to do so! Not to mention the the years, possibly decades, of sorce material. So true this show really did break the curse. Hopefully, this show will pave the way for how to adapt a game appropriately to another medium. The good thing about this show is that it really does have a great story and making the adaptation of this game gave us so much time with characters we just couldn't in the game because you constantly fighting the infected and always looking around for things you need to survive.

Oh yeah. The problem was hollywood believed they needed to take the game and write their OWN story set in its universe to be enjoyable...but that is literally the opposite of what to do. The greatest success stories for any adaptive work has been when the show/film's adaptation was AS FAITHFUL AS POSSIBLE to the source material and only added/removed things out of necessity or worthwhile expansion. Bill and Frank were rather minor characters in the game, but by expanding their lives into a story arc of its own, a love story in the middle of an apocalypse, it IMPROVED the series 10-fold. Harry Potter, whilst contains a LOT of differences between book and film had things cut mostly due to time constraints of film-runtime requirements. Lord of the Rings, likewise. Both mediums stayed as faithful as feasibly possible to their source materials and so they both SHOWED what could be accomplished with adapted media. Last of Us is a newer/more recent, and perfect example of how to do adaptation well. So I hope the show-writers of wheel of time take notice and realize that for them to make a good...successful show, they'll have to stick to the source matieral.......better.....then they did in season 1.

I've never played the game, but I did enjoy Werewolves Within. I imagine it's like the movie Clue, taking the game as a springboard. What of the movies that consciously or not seem inspired by videogrames? The Girl With All The Gifts was definitely inspired by The Last Of Us. I would even say Overlord was inspired by the Castle Wolfenstein games, with the WWII zombie super-soldiers and mysterious experiments. The movie is entirely set up as a timed mission to accomplish. And a lot of the "one-takes " in Children Of Men seem videogame inspired.

What scares me is that it is so good that all the studios will say: "Let's get on this train (while it lasts)" and either -
1: Just copy "The Last of Us" or similar good adaptation formulae and making a decent if lesser show
    OR
2: "Let's buy some popular IP and make a cheap show for a quick buck while this bandwagon is hot."
You know... Like they used to? 😉I don't have to remind anyone about the many awful comic-book adaptations right before Marvel cleaned the slate with the first Iron-Man? Of course we also have the reverse bad movie to game tie ins? Again, I am just afraid that the studios will all be short-sighted and just see dollar signs and miss the point that it is easier in the long run to make good stuff to keep their popularity in the positive and also be known for quality. Unlike game publishers like EA or Activision-Blizzard. You know. 😛
Anyway, I have hope. Let's just pray that the studios know what they have and treat it with respect.

I think it’s ridiculous that nobody has made a legend of Zelda live action film or series. It’s a simple story that could be built around the action and puzzle solving aspects of the game. And epic tale of a dude fight through castles and traps, to get muguffins and gear and save princesses ❤️.
