- Ron Martin, Director of Admissions, leads a discussion about the Crown Family School's A.M. in Social Sector Leadership and Nonprofit Management (SSL) program. Joining him is Kate Attea, the Senior Lecturer and Associate Director of the Social Sector Leadership Program and the Dean of Students, Diversity and Inclusion, Kristen Reid Salomon.
About the SSL Program: SSL is a twelve-course degree program designed to empower early-to-mid career professionals to become more inclusive and impactful leaders across the social sector. Offering both part and full-time options, it is an ideal fit for emerging social sector leaders who want to develop the capacity to influence and build better organizations that advance a more just and humane society, while developing the capacity to more effectively address social change.
Unlike traditional nonprofit management programs, SSL’s curriculum will expose you to both the conceptual foundation and practical skills needed to become a more effective social sector leader. Taught by faculty working at the forefront of social sector governance, SSL is unique is its ability to provide students with knowledge about how mission-driven organizations operate in their communities, as well as deep conceptual thinking about how these organizations can respond to complex social problems.
Through your coursework you will gain access to more than a network; you will develop lasting connections with your peers and other leaders in the social sector. Our students pursue their studies in a close-knit cohort that celebrates diversity and fosters self-discovery and human connection through a grounding experience deeply embedded in the social fabric of Chicago.
