My ex husband was in kerelaw in the late 70s early 80s first time I met him he and a cpl of younger boys had run away and walking about Kilmarnock in the early hours of the morning the things he told me about the place was sick 🤬
Any kind of abuse against kids is of course terrible but see ppl who work in these areas and take advantage of children who are so vulnerable and already broken , thats the worst of the worst , can’t tell you how much that angers me

John Crombie he got 10 yrs a while back and done it then more victims came forward and he got another sentence, more than the 10yrs. I’m from the same area Kerelaw was, been in it ( secure unit ) coz the cops couldn’t hold me longer in the cop shop. Then went to court then finally Schoolboys in Longriggend for a weeks remand. Unfortunately I got bail a week later then went through the same scenario on the Friday night, cop shop for so long then back to Kerelaw secure unit and onto schoolboys again for around 8 or 9 weeks then back to court then onto the Kibble in Paisley until the fully comittal was complete as I had co-accused older than me. I remember being prepped on the morning of the beginning of trial and getting told by the staff that I could stay at my mums RIP throughout the trial to save me going back and forth to the kibble. Anyway 1st day I’m getting a train from Paisley to Kilwinning then a train through to Kilmarnock and I’m 10 mins late. Nothing said until end of first day then the sheriff ( DB Smith AKA Ayatollah) says “ Bail will be continued for everyone who was on bail, except for me I’d not long turned 16 he said I’d disrupted his proceedings so I spent the next fortnight ferried to and from barlinnie for the sake of 10 minutes which was no fault of my own, then sent the lot of us to Edinburgh High as he didn’t think he had the powers ( back then 4yr was the most you could get in a sheriff court, thank god I went and 3 of us got 18mths, 1 got 30 mths, 1 got 4 yr and 1 got 5yr. He was an animal ( sheriff ) probably the worst in Scotland back then.
You have the degree & the life experience & knowledge to identify & relate with the young and that if bottled and sold ... priceless !
