R.I.P. Barbara Thompson (1944-2022). Your work and your importance for the music will remain unforgotten. Despite the illness you played for your fans for so long. Thanks for everything, you stay in our hearts as do Jon and Dick!

Used to see your Mum and Dad In Kendal, yearly Must be six times or so always brought great talent with them, you always got a mention by your mum, lovely times 🙂
I’m here after seeing you on 24 hours in A&E I have an absolute love for the Dave Matthews’s band who have a real modern jazz influence in there style of music. And there old saxophone player LeRoi Moore was an absolute talent. Your mum was a fantastic player. I would love to meet her and chat to her about the music. 👌🏻 I hope she’s doing well. If you could please show her some live music of the Dave Mathews band your mum would appreciate
I didn't realise that Barbara had left us. I saw Jon with Coliseum in 1971 and Barbara and Jon in a jazz club in the early 90's. Great evenings that I will always remember. RIP Jon and Barbara.
Barbara and Jon were two of ny alĺ time favourite musiciansand I was lucky to them live in many of their varied bands including in the orchestra for the first week of Cats the mysical. I have both biographies which are well worth reading RIP both and your legacy lives on.
R.I.P. JON, always be remembered, i´m 67 heard about Colsseum in 68, and then Los angeles live concerto. NObody like the members gone, Thanks for the music rendered¡¡¡¡
I just saw your mum on 24 in the ER here in Holland and my dad played saxophone either therefor I thought I look at RUclips and I found her.... What a sound... And what a pitty to read that she has past away..... But the show must go on as you said and there is still the music... Take care...
Vielen Dank Barbara, für deine Musik und wie du es jungen Menschen nahegebracht hast. Mir tut deine Erkrankung so Leid. Du wirst fehlen. Du bist einfach die Größte!!!
I'm a little older boy of sixty-two (in a few days) from Berlin and I'm a music listener since my childhood days and over the years you can believe me it was a bunch of music but to my shame I have to admit that I never heard of Barbara Thompson. These days I remembered Manfred Mann's Earth Band after a longer time and had a listen to them here at YT. On their album "The Roaring Silence" I was suddenly very surprised about a sax solo at the end of the title "Singing The Dolphin Through". Instantly I searched who was playing this and so I landed here. What an impressive woman and saxophon player! For me particular interesting and very inspiring because I learn to play sax (a + s) myself these days. Great music at all! Fits perfect in the spectrum of my musical liking. The last bars I like most. You've got a new fan. In those moments I always think about all the wonderful music around the world I will never hear because, well, you can't listen to all. But I'm always happy to discover new (at least for me) music just like yours.
Absolutely amazing, always loved Jon and Barbara's music, the violin playing is stunning, gutted to know that Jon Hiseman passed away, a giant of the Jazz scene indeed....one of the great drummers....RIP
Takes me back to The Bull's Head in Barnes. Beautiful. What a way to spend an evening in '79 - that bar with the best music and the best barman in the world. And the best art-deco carpet to boot. Anyone remember? Ahh...

Barbara Thompson's Paraphernalia is PHENOMENALIA.....
The DVD that this comes from is one of the best live performances I have ever seen, or heard. A must for all lovers of Barbara and jazz (or just music).
Close to the Edge, one of my favorites of Paraphernalia, presented here in a new fantastic version. Thanks for posting it here, actually again with violin, great! We spoke about 15 years ago on Potsdamer Straße in Berlin in front of Quartier Latin after your concert. Hi Jon, best wishes from Berlin, this is Lutz.
Hi Barbara, hi Jon, nice to see you in the web. Great Paraphernalia-videos! 2005 in austria i had a great time with you and Colosseum! The talk with Jon in the hotel lobby in Stuttgart was nice and ich miss Mark's jokes and Clem's smile :) I hope I see you again! Many greetings from Kiel, Germany Markus (Bärbel's son)
I was in this concert at the theaterhouse in stuttgart,, with my wife, my wife is inside the cover of the live parapernalia double album together with her girl friend 1980..
If the rest of the DVD is even close to this - which I'm sure it is - then it is something we should all purchase in order to support these great - and dedicated - players. I notice it's available via Jon's website. A search for Temple Music should get you there (this YT page will not accept website addresses). I see there is also a double cd. And Jon's bio, 'Playing the Band' (excellent reading), plus other things.
Great stuff!! Saw Paraphernalia at the half moon putney in the late 70's, amazin' night. Anyone know what happened to colin dudman (sp?) and Dill Katz, one of the best bass players the uk has produced IMHO.

Barbara Thompson is Number One for sax. Her tone is extraordinary. I’m blessed to have heard her live.
Ich auch, unvergesslich wie sie mich in den Bann gezogen hat.
@@almutlanger7978She had a lot of musical training and knowledge but like a true expert made all that invisible to us when she played

The best violin solo played by anyone since the dawn of time! :)
