I think you're spot on, Gonzo. Loppy's first call is shoring up the defense... because you can table a solid defense home or away. Until the team gets totally ingrained into the system that Loppy wants... I think this is what we get. I'm still not sure what Soucek and Antonio bring to the table, though... I would think it'd be nice if we had the best personnel for a counterattacking threat if we are going to play like that away.
What we achieved it spending years, Aston villa did it just in a year and even improving by just getting proper manager. Newcastle same. We are the only one who still haven’t experienced champions league

Thing is, apparently Lopey’s by the end of next season is to get us into Europe or win a cup, so if the plan is to protect our goal difference on the road I’m not sure he can achieve his goals. That plan requires all other teams to stick to a script and that just doesn’t happen in the premier league. Not for nothing, I saw stats last night that said we were 20th in the league in shots against, 20th in the league in opportunities against, near bottom or bottom in XG against, near bottom in being dispossessed of the ball. We need to tighten up.
Another good thing having 2 systems is you can shut up shop at home if you take the lead or go more attacking away if your chasing the game and the players know exactly what they are expected to do
He’s still in the early learning curve and giving the players a fair chance. I’d go back 3 with Somerville Left, striker, Bowen and Kudus Right up front.

I met a wolves fan who told me this in the summer. He said under loppy they played very defensive away from home but on the front foot at home. Seems to be his style.

We definitely have got in the defence this week will be a good test to see where we are that point number one
Point number 2 we play too many defensive players in midfield what isn't it great 2 to see that we have a manager that is not afraid to make changes before the 86 minute
Point number 3 I think he plays Thomas simply and purely because here comes up wait wait very important goals he always seems to get one chance a game ok he doesn't always take them 40 hours gets one chance
So I think looking at it is willing to carry him for that one chance
The definitely made a difference to us and at least he's not afraid to do it
I think we only have to learn to start faster than we do we seem to play our way install games
This week will be a big indicator to where we are because of Chelsea they should be a Champions League team with the players they have and the players they don't use

Looetegui is trying to build a team whilst trying to put points on the board. which is pretty tricky. Buying players (however good they are) won't change things overnight, especially if they have no premiership experience.
By all means make a judgement but I'd wait until Christmas otherwise you risk playing right into the hands of the "careful what you wish for" brigade

All the new players take time to settle and take on the managers ideas so let's look at it after 10-15 games. He need his best team to start and they will get better.
We are four, yes only four games in! We have bought nine new players, give him time. He made a mistake with his starting team because he played it 'safe'. At Half time he realised his mistake and changed it! We didn't lose ( and certainly not 5-0), so all is well! Bring on Chelsea!

Why not just try to win all games? Have I slipped into a parallel Moyesiverse where because the manager is a bit more exotic we can then put up with disgraceful crap football in the name of pragmatism? You can't slate Moyes in one breath and then praise the new.manager for the same thing. We've been crap home and away so I dont think any of this holds any water at all. Points at Fulham and Palace are not amazing results. They are expected results with such an expensively assembled squad.

It'll take time for him to find his best teams, we all know that but it seems most of us are confused why he would think the team in the first half was a good choice. Personally I'm really confused about Tobido (Tovibo!!!!). Is he not as good as we thought, injured, not fit? Bit worrying.

If that performance against Fulham was a result of Lopetegui implementing his away tactics , we are in for one depressing season. That performance was poor , I want to see entertaining football. ….i hope this is not Moyes Mkll. Good teams do not plan to abandon their attacking play to fit their managers approach to games. imo loppy set up 1st half to contain and defend stop fulham make em think soucek and antonio was on for beast mode and aerial threat on the break(didn't work) 2nd half put the ball players on to make fulham think hold on we need to defend that lead and the rest we know

I told you all about Flopetegui awful manager but you all wanted Moyes gone you say no one Flopetegui out well I’m and I was ever since he was appointed we’ll be fighting relegation this season and won’t win another game be careful what you wish for 4 games and we’re already close to relegation under Moyes things would be a lot different
The fact of the matter is you will find at least 90% of managers set up a bit more defensive away from home and attack more at home...its not a new thing....arsenal absolutely stank the place out at spurss yesterday and all arteta was the 3 points and not entertainment 😂😂😂
At this moment in time lopetegi has it all wrong and I don't think we should expect it to change. Not a good start to his reign.
However we should not be surprised. It was Sullivan's choice not the supporters. Kudos looks fed up. The system doesn't suit Bowen. We do not get crosses in for headers. It's very much a moyes style of play, where actually everyone looks confused. The options are long ball. Square pegs in round holes. We do not have full backs darting down the wings. It's a complete mess. Should we give him time, we'll the wolves supporters would say not. It doesn't actually change. Why can't we just have a decent manager? Is it that the decent managers wouldn't touch west ham with a barge poll. Is the current set up just geared towards managers like moyes and lopetegi. Does it all come down to Sullivan again? Nothing changes.

Wolves supporters can say what they like. There was more going on at Wolves than just Lopetegui. Seville supporters, I used to watch Seville regularly under Lopetegui, would say completely different to Wolves fans! His style of play was exactly what we need to see. Defenders pushing up, crosses in the box. Give him time to work it out. I would give him the season to get things going but he does need to start playing half decent football or he is going to be under real pressure!

Here´s the thing with Soucek. His role is to be inside the box to latch onto crosses. If there are no crosses into the box, then he has a "bad game"? Emerson getting one cross into the box in 45 minutes is simply not going to do Soucek any favours!

Soucek is slow. He can't pass the ball, and he can't tackle.
You do not play a player for what they might do but what they do, do.

As I mentioned, Soucek can't pass, can't tackle, and is very slow. He is invisible and does nothing. He might be in the right place at the right time occasionally, but for the rest of the game, he's useless.
Every other player, aside from Antonio, does something for the team. They contribute, Soucek does not.
