NEVER Run Small Stock Through a Planer - Unless....

This video shows you a couple of techniques to run short or narrow stock through your planer, and get good results, safely.

Materials used:
My planer is a DeWalt DW735, but I’ve used these same techniques on a DeWalt DW733 (do those still exist?), and a bench top Makita (a looooooong time ago), and I’m sure they’ll work for you as well.
The plywood I used was basic ¾” birch ply. It is flat and I always have some on hand. I’d prefer to use Baltic Birch, but with the price these days, I don’t have much scrap around at the moment.

I’m a big fan of double sided taping thin stock to a sled. I try to use plywood that is just a little wider and longer than what I am planing. I have found that running smaller/shorter pieces through at an angle reduces snipe significantly (at least on my DeWalt 734).

I used to have a small planer that I gave to a friend when I moved, when planing thin or short stock on that I would stick it to an MDF base sheet with cheap (Poundland) double sided tape.

You may try double sided tape to hold thin stock to a sled when running it.

Yes, as long as the strips are sound (and the fasteners hidden), you can keep using it.
