1:21 What I love about this scene (besides that funny growl) is how even when Adam is a handsome prince again, Belle still loved him as a beast and misses it, which is why she asks if he'd grow a beard.
Fun fact. In the original novel, it was Beaute' who needed to learn a life lesson, not prince Adam. (her name wasn't Bell in the original, it was Beaute' which is literally the French word for Beauty) See in the original, Adam wasn't cursed for being mean to a random old woman, he was cursed for *politely turning down the unwelcome romantic advances* of an old lady. For those who want to know more, I'll put a summery below. So the original novel starts with a prologue. A fairly, old even by fairy standards decides to go to the human world for work and a change of pace. She gets a job as the caretaker of the toddler age prince Adam. Meanwhile in a nearby kingdom, the king and queen have been killed by assassins and the killers are approaching the room where the Baby princess is sleeping. A *different* fairy spirits the child away. Looking for a safe place to secretly stash the baby, she finds a couple that just had a baby girl. Sadly the baby died shortly after birth but the parents haven't noticed yet. The second fairy swaps the princess for the other baby. Years later, puberty hits prince Adam like a bus. He's tall, good looking and athletic, yet kind and generous. The old fairy starts getting ideas...gross ideas. She's now got the hots for the boy who's diapers she changed years ago. She approaches him, declaring her love for him and basically starts to plan the wedding in the same breath, fully expecting him to reciprocate her feelings. He politely but firmly tells her no...she does not take it well.... She places a curse on prince Adam, giving him an ultimatum. Either he agrees to marry her before the time runs out, and she lifts the curse, or the curse kills him after a certain amount of time. Now, in the world the author created, curses have rules. Powerful curses need a sort of, 'way out' clause. There basically has to be a built in way to break the curse. The rules for doing so can be convoluted, specific and *almost* impossible, but it has to be at least *technically* possible for the curse to function. The person who placed the curse also doesn't have to tell their victim any of this. The second fairy from the prologue approaches the now transformed 'Beast' and tells him about the 'way out' clause for curses and that she's figured out how to break his....but he isn't going to like it. She informs him that the first rule is that he can break the curse if he gets a woman of royal birth to agree to marry him and say she loves him, but there is *exactly one* unmarried princess in ANY of the nearby kingdoms. The secreted away princess from the prologue, who her unknowing foster parents named, Beaute'. The whole thing with her father coming to then stealing from the castle was orchestrated by the fairy. Her father _did_ steal with very little prodding, they basically just gave him the opportunity to. Then trading Beaute' for his freedom? His idea. (father of the year everyone!) Oh the fairy lead him *to* the idea, but he still was the one to suggest basically selling his daughter for his freedom. Prince Adam, or Beast *hated* the idea but reluctantly agreed to it when the fairy basically reminded him that he would literally die (or be forced to marry an ugly old creep) if he failed to get Beaute' to fall in love with him. Beaute' was taken to the castle, terrified of 'the beast' lurking inside and was surprised to be taken to a suit of rooms rather than the dungeon. Then every night she would be asked to dine with Beast. The curse the evil fairy placed on him had the following rules for breaking it 1. A woman of royal birth had to say she loved him and agreed to marry him 2. He could not, under any circumstance, tell her who he was or anything about the curse 3. While *physically* (thats important in a minute) in her presence, he had to act like he was mentally challenged. The evil fairy had thought there were no unmarried princesses around. There were princesses, they were all just married already so it was *_technically_* possible for one to agree to marry him so she thought she'd skirted the rule about the curse breaking being possible. She didn't know that a princess had been spirited away and raised as a peasant. The second thing the evil fairy overlooked was a loophole in the 3rd rule. Every evening Beaute' would have diner with the beast. He would make awkward, dim witted small talk while she scoffed and huffed. Then at the end of diner, he would ask her to marry him. She would tell him no in no uncertain terms as rudely as she could. Beast would then storm away in tears, and she would be escorted back to her rooms. The good fairy would then use her magic to allow prince Adam to enter her dreams as his true self. They would basically have tea and snacks while chatting. He still couldn't reveal his true identity or anything about the curse, but he could otherwise talk to her without acting stupid. Beaute' was *immediately* smitten with prince Adam and at the end of the night, when he would ask her to marry him, using the exact phrasing he had earlier in the night, she would happily agree and wake up. This was the lesson part of the story. Beaute' was kind, but also vain and judgemental. Over time she came to realize that Beast wasn't a monster, he only looked like one. She started noticing little kindnesses from the beast and how, he was not cruel or mean. In fact, she started taking a look at _her own_ behavior and realized if anything, she had been cruel. She still said no to his marriage proposals but was a lot nicer about it. Eventually she figured out that Beast and the literal man of her dreams were one and the same and one night at diner, she told him she loved him, agreed to marry him and the curse was broken.
I think what gets lost in the the frustration over 1:44 is that while the moment was weak in terms of gay characters in a Disney movie, it does complete Le Fou's character arc. The guy he dances with at the end is Stanley, who was thrown into drag during the battle at the castle (we first see him during the song "Gaston" during the lyric "You can ask any Tom, Dick, or Stanley"). While the other guys were horrified, Stanley actually really liked being in a dress and make-up, stereotypically telling the audience he was gay too. However, after Le Fou realized his mistake about being taken in by Gaston's toxic (and deadly) masculinity, he leaves Gaston behind during the castle battle, and then ends the movie in the arms of a man who enjoys drag. Le Fou has learned to expand who he loves outside the hyper-masculine stereotype that is Gaston, letting it go by embracing someone with a more feminine side. It's a tired lesson, but an interesting way of delivering it in a Disney movie: Don't get so caught up in the popular jock that you miss out on someone who is better for you.
I never noticed that that's a cool perspective 😎 and I love that they let him find someone even if it's just a dance...I love This movie so many lessons and so much growth
Same! I love the fact that they actually gave her a wedding dress in the live action version instead of just having the yellow dress again. Like the yellow dress was gorgeous ( I actually even liked the live actions version better!) but it’s nice to see her get a special dress at the end for the final dance 💛
The roses made the dress more beautiful. I remember gasping the first time I saw it. Call me full and boring but I also love the new design of the golden dress used in the first dance.
I'm so thankful to everybody who did their best to put this film out. Belle is my favourite Disney princess after Mulan, but I'm glad they didn't ruin this like they did to Mulan's live action version. Even in this film, Belle is smarter and she has more realistic characteristics here. It was an incredibly beautiful film and I was able to watch this in theatre IMAX. Such a delightful experience.
My favorite part is when Belle asks Adam if he would grow a beard and he growls😫 I felt belle on another level and I wish he had more lines in his human form 😞😞
Same. Lefou switching sides was a nice change from the original ☺️ I’ve always had the theory that one of the reasons behind it is because Josh Gad was playing Lefou in this version, and Disney thought kids would get mad that the dude who played Olaf the Snowman is in leagues with the bad guy 😆😂🤣
I knew they would include LeFou at the wedding for this adaptation. When waiting months for this film to come out, I had been thinking what would be something funny to happen to him there. I was thinking that when Belle would toss the bouquet, LeFou would catch it and the three sisters who liked Gaston would tackle LeFou to grab the bouquet, causing him to shriek as he falls to the floor.

Call me biased but this remake is one of most favourite. I especially the new songs and the changes made. Beauty and the Beast is my favourite Disney film.
I love the scene where Belle and the prince are dancing together, it's such a wonderful scene. The way they are dancing is also awesome. And I love the costume that the prince is wearing when he is dancing with Belle. The prince had turned into a beast because of his arrogance, but Belle helped him to break the spell and the prince finally became human again. Belle married the prince not just because he is handsome, but it's also because he cares for her and even risks his life to protect her. He had saved her from the wolves in the forest.
I saw this remake of the classic years ago (2017), and it was beautifully wonderful. The cast and the music plus some of the new songs were amazing. Dan Steven and Josh Groban singing "Forever More" was such a powerful and lovely song
@@ishanaswonderland6301 idk about "boring" tho, the morality of the story is to learn humility. we see the pretentious Prince in the beginning in dark blue, & then in the end in light blue, so her dress is also pretty but simple, they both blend in with the villagers now. it's all symbolism
@@humblefolk1499 I like the light blue costume that the prince is wearing at the end. Maybe you are right, the white dress is still beautiful. I was wrong. It doesn't matter what the colour of the dress is. I don't hate the white dress that Belle is wearing, I just think that the yellow dress is better than the white dress.

This movie is my favorite live action, I love it as much as I love the original one. Everything was so magical, romantic, touching and beautiful ! Emma Watson is made for this role, and her chemistry with Prince Adam is just incredible, I wish we had more moments of Prince Adam as a human because he's so handsome 🥺 I just watched it again now and everytime it gives me goosebumps. If only Disney could make good live actions like this one ...
This Disney live action of the classic is my favourite and so's Cinderella (2015). Emma Watson (aka Harry Potter) nailed the role as Belle and her singing is beautiful I saw this remake of the classic years ago (2017), and it was beautifully wonderful. The cast and the music plus some of the new songs were amazing. This is the film that introduced me to Dan Stevens. When I first saw him in the movie he was gorgeous! He also nailed the role as Beast
Prince Adam is not only handsome but also a good and kind person. On the other hand, Gaston is a cruel and evil man who wanted to kill the prince. This movie teaches that we shouldn't judge people by their looks. Actually the prince is not a beast. Gaston is the real beast.
Most of all I’m in love with the costume in this remake. I think I can imagine Thomas Jefferson in this suit when he was writing the Declaration of Independence and served as ambassador to France
I have also fallen in love with Lumiere's hair, but what I love the most is the costumes that Belle and the prince are wearing when they are dancing together. Their costumes are so fabulous.
Let's give credit to the creators Allen Menken Howard ashmen. The people that create the magic, to the cast. These people work off their asses to perform for us, this film needs the credit it dose deserve.
I'm not kidding, but this is my favourite scene of the movie. Also, I like this version more than the animated version. But I don't understand why some people hate this version. There's nothing wrong with this version.
@@ishanaswonderland6301 yeah but there was a scene where two guys were dancing and it upset some people. Pretty dumb right? So as I was saying, that is why some people dislike the movie.
Did you know that in the UK Tour, not a hint of music from the 2017 live action adaptation was heard until the finale? Sam Bailey treated us with that after the actor playing Chip reunited with her. “Are they going to live happily ever after, Mama?” “Of course, dear, of course… 0:55” Thank you, Sam Bailey, for bringing back the magic from 2017. It means a lot. 0:55 is what replaced “Do I still have to sleep in the cupboard?”

I'd rather have that than PDA and pandering. Gay or not, affection other than a hug or look should not be in any kids movie in the way they are showing it (unnecessarily).

Beast: growling
Me, LITERALLY CHOCKING ON MY SPIT
I'm so proud of lefou take belle's side
The way his bf just grabbed him and pulled him away, I can’t 😭
Same. Lefou switching sides was a nice change from the original ☺️
I’ve always had the theory that one of the reasons behind it is because Josh Gad was playing Lefou in this version, and Disney thought kids would get mad that the dude who played Olaf the Snowman is in leagues with the bad guy 😆😂🤣
That playful growl 😂❤
I knew they would include LeFou at the wedding for this adaptation. When waiting months for this film to come out, I had been thinking what would be something funny to happen to him there. I was thinking that when Belle would toss the bouquet, LeFou would catch it and the three sisters who liked Gaston would tackle LeFou to grab the bouquet, causing him to shriek as he falls to the floor.
This was a solid ending. But something about the Stained Glass ending just touches the soul.

Imagine if they all appeared in the live action version as well, that would be brilliant.
I feel honored that Angela has the same birthday as me and she also sung one of my favorite Disney songs.. May she rest in peace
Wasn’t Angels actually born in 1926?
Lumière said Ah l'amour.
Translation: Love 💗
Same birthday as me and she also sung one of my favorites Disney songs.. Mag
Call me biased but this remake is one of most favourite. I especially the new songs and the changes made. Beauty and the Beast is my favourite Disney film.
My favorite live action Disney movie. The ending is so sweet.
this is also my favorite live action Disney movie too and yes the ending is so sweet

This dress is very pretty it looks better on her than that yellow main dress
I think it might be her wedding dress.
I like her yellow dress because her yellow dress is more beautiful and more accurate. The white dress looks a bit boring.
Jordan Davis 22 it This better
Every time I hear this song I think of my mother and it really hurts but also soothing
I love the part when belle asked him abt growing a beard that I re-watched it a 100 times!!❤❤❤
I also love that part too and I also rewatched it a 100 times too

0:16 What a celebration and dancing!
I love the moment when Chip runs to Belle, and she hugs him. Sadly, that was only one second long.
0:18 was incredible
I thought that this came out in 2018 not 2016. I realize now that I love it that much because I was so little when it came out. I'm thirteen and miss watching this when I was six without a care in the world. God those were the days where you thought everything was perfect and it was going to stay that way.
Love the ending Disney did a Magnificent job with is

This movie is my favorite live action, I love it as much as I love the original one.
Everything was so magical, romantic, touching and beautiful ! Emma Watson is made for this role, and her chemistry with Prince Adam is just incredible, I wish we had more moments of Prince Adam as a human because he's so handsome 🥺 I just watched it again now and everytime it gives me goosebumps.
If only Disney could make good live actions like this one ...
and also like Cinderella 2015 that one was beautiful too
This Disney live action of the classic is my favourite and so's Cinderella (2015). Emma Watson (aka Harry Potter) nailed the role as Belle and her singing is beautiful
I saw this remake of the classic years ago (2017), and it was beautifully wonderful. The cast and the music plus some of the new songs were amazing.
@@ishanaswonderland6301
Yeah and Gaston only liked Belle for her looks not who she was..
@@katelynthewhitewerewolf6376 Yes. That's silly, Gaston loved Belle just for her beauty. Appearance is not important. True beauty lies within.
I'm fall in love with Lumiere's hair.. HAHAHAH
I just loved happy ending
Emma Thompson singing is just beautiful
It’s Emma Watson. Just correcting. No hate intended
@@BrunoChagas2012 Emma Watson is belle, Emma Thompson is Mrs Potts (Aka Nanny McPhee)

Let's give credit to the creators Allen Menken Howard ashmen. The people that create the magic, to the cast. These people work off their asses to perform for us, this film needs the credit it dose deserve.
just love how they slightly holding hands (or fingers?) at 1:52
I love this music so much and I felt I'm a princess if I heard this song
The ending is beautiful and rather cute.
I'm not kidding, but this is my favourite scene of the movie. Also, I like this version more than the animated version. But I don't understand why some people hate this version. There's nothing wrong with this version.
Some people hate it become of a 2 second part of the movie where two guys are dancing smh 🤦♂️
@@eatenbakery They are not guys, they are Belle and the prince!
@@ishanaswonderland6301 ???
@@eatenbakery I'm telling you that it is Belle and the prince who are dancing, not guys.
@@ishanaswonderland6301 yeah but there was a scene where two guys were dancing and it upset some people. Pretty dumb right? So as I was saying, that is why some people dislike the movie.
I just finished performing in the stage show, and have to say our ending was miles better
This song has so much beauty.
I love happy ending 😊

Did you know that in the UK Tour, not a hint of music from the 2017 live action adaptation was heard until the finale? Sam Bailey treated us with that after the actor playing Chip reunited with her.
“Are they going to live happily ever after, Mama?”
“Of course, dear, of course… 0:55” Thank you, Sam Bailey, for bringing back the magic from 2017. It means a lot.
0:55 is what replaced “Do I still have to sleep in the cupboard?”
I really love the costume they gave to Lumiere and he could have at least wore it in the broadway and the original!
now i wish that trelawney got to sing like this in front of mcgonagall and umbridge and all the professors just to see their reaction! i love emma’s voice!

I love Belle/Emma Watson’s dress!
One of the best movies I ever seen.
This is so beautiful. I’m crying
Stanley Tucci steals the show for me in this scene, funniest bit of the whole movie!
Can we talk about Audra McDonald's exceptional high note in the end?? ❤❤❤
Beauty and the Beast is the best Disney movie ever
Alongside Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Christopher Robin, and Cruella.
Ikrr
i know there was a lot of drama over it, but i love the scene with Lefou where he and the other guy (who was put into a dress by the wardrobe) find one another on the dance floor. you get a moment where you can honestly feel that those two characters finally found something. i love the original but i love this one just a tad bit more
😡
So do I.
I'd rather have that than PDA and pandering. Gay or not, affection other than a hug or look should not be in any kids movie in the way they are showing it (unnecessarily).
@@alemusaver tell that to Lightyear
@@R3D-3Y3Z Didn't even watch it fir that reason. At least this is 2017 PC disney, where pda is not even shown, they are portrayed more like CLOOOSE friends than just slapping asses or kissing everytime they are on screen.
1:24 awww 😂❤❤❤❤❤
This is how a remake should be.
I gotta admit, Adam being played by an actual human makes the fact that he's no longer the Beast a little better. Still very handsome.
1:36 THE PAINTING!

I’m sure the prince and all his servants were thinking “…I didn’t believe this day would ever come…”
perfectly lovely

It was perfect 🥹
How does the wedding dress look more beautiful than the yellow droopy dress they gave her 😭
I love that Emma Watson played hermione and Emma Thompson was one of the professors at hogwarts, and not she’s Belle and Thompson is mrs Potts 😂
Emma watson was destined to play this role
I have not been a big fan of most of the Disney live-action re-makes, but this one was really great. I wish I could say the same for The Little Mermaid. Oof.
