It is quite unbelievable that human beings can build such things. Just think of all the parts that have to be designed, manufactured, and built..then assembled to all fit properly and function. All the engineering involved etc. If you really ponder over it while watching this video and seeing the inside of the vehicle as well as the outside it is damn amazing. And these vehicles are probably much less involved and complex as say a fighter aircraft, for example the F-22 Raptor. Human ingenuity has no bounds. If the money is there, the manpower and if the technology exists..(or has to be created)and man's desire, I believe man can build nearly anything he can imagine.

Well, they are sufficient for what is required of them. Not to speak of the funds necessary to run them compared to getting whole new batch of tanks with assorted spare parts, munitions, crew training, etc. It is much more reasonable just to tweak T-72M4CZs to new modifications.
Ye if you dont want to invest millions more in your defence budget, then modernizing your older tanks is the next best option....thats actually what Russia is still mostly doing because T-14 Armata is way too expensive to actually produce in big numbers, so they are instead mainly updating their older T72, T80 and T90 tanks. Also Leopard 2A4 (as seen here) wouldnt be that significant of upgrade because its also from 80s....if you want proper upgrade you would have to go for Leopard 2A6 or 2A7 models. While 2A4 is still decent tank and would be able to go against even updated T72s and T80s (as long as the Leo 2A4s have the proper upgrades as well), it might not have had so good chance against newest version of T90 or against Armata (assuming Russia is able to get them to perform the way they want), but either way 2A4 is quite aging tank model already.
Everyone shit's on T72s, but compared to their price, they are very good tanks. For a tank which was made in the 70s, the armament holds up to this very day, not even mentioining they can fire ATGMs from their main canon, to my knowledge no western MBT can do that. With an engine upgrade they can carry a lot more armor and optics etc. while still being a lot cheaper than western tanks. Obviliusly they cannot be used forever, but they still have potential, espeically for poorer countries.
Any of you real? The Leopard 2a4 is around 30 years old, the newer generations are the a6, a7 and a7+, all of them highly modern and effective... You can't say for certain that any modern tank is better than another one, because numbers alone rarely paint a correct picture (see T34-36). Let's just agree that the "Leo", "Chally", Armata and leclerc are all very capable Tanks. The Abrams needs some updates though (which it will get).

I think I read somewhere that the tanks in the German army were at most 30% usable at any one time. They are prone to breakage and a very hard to keep running. Most are sitting in repair shops waiting for parts or mechanics to fix them. Sort of like the lightweight artillery being sent to Ukraine by the USA that are good for a couple hundred rounds before something breaks and they require constant maintenance or they're basically junk.
@@gruberstein Over the course of 10 years, my tank platoon (consisting of 4 tanks) never had any downtime for one tank longer than 2 month.
