I'm glad you said how hard it is learning from children's books! So many Koreans just tell me to read children's books because they are so easy and they don't understand when I disagree!
Old video but children have totally different vocabulary than adults. My kids are learning chinese and can talk about tons of animals, dinosaurs, fairies, super heroes, princesses, but they cant talk about dating, banking, taking the subway. My kids use vocabulary regularly that an adult will probably never encounter.
So I'm currently learning Japanese and I really want to begin learning Korean, and this vid was so inspiring! This was my first video I've seen off of your channel, definitely subscribing!! As I'm watching this video I'm currently looking up Japanese children's books and digging up some spare notebooks! Keep up the great work :)
Ooooooooo Japanese~~ That's so cool!! I've been wanting to pick up Japanese for some time now~~ It's such a beautiful language~ I'm sure you will love learning Korean! You're already used to the verbs being at the end of the sentence!! Haha And thank you for subscribing~ I hope I'll be able to help you in your Korean language learning journey~
Wow Natalia your korean bookshelf is really amazing! I was really impressed by your effort and passion for studying Korean:) Your recommendations are also useful and creative. I also looked around your other videos and it was so fun and helpful. I'm looking forward to your new episodes!
Do you know the names of the childrenbooks (the ones with the beginner to advanced levels) and the "intermediate" reading books from the upper bookshelf and give them to us? I would like to see if they are available on amazon
Hi, guys~ I'm not home right now, but later today I'll make sure to look at them and let you now! :) And by intermediate books, do you mean the larger books? Like Doctor Stranger or like the Magic Treehouse books?
Hi natalia (and everyone!) ! I just started learning korean since february and i really have my heart set on taking the TOPIK test, aside from Korean Grammer in Use are there any TOPIK books in english you recommend particularly?
Hmmmm I haven't taken the TOPIK I test, but I think all Korean textbooks created by Korean universities are meant to prepare for the exam! I don't have a specific book recommendation, but I do recommend the website TOPIKGuide.com because it offers grammar lists and vocabulary lists for the exam! They also have old exam papers as well! I made a video about the website a while back, if you want to check it out~! ruclips.net/video/GrzQci3atCg/видео.html
Korean Grammar the complete guide to speaking Korean naturally published by Tuttle is really good. It has really in depth explanations of just about anything at the beginner- lower intermediate level. Use it along with whatever lesson/textbook you have, i don't recommend it as a main source of learning because it's really dense and only fun to look at when its explaining something in a plain manner that you've been stumped on.
I had to use so much willpower around books when I was living in Korea! In the end I bought very few, knowing I'd be back, but I still had to send home a box of other stuff I'd bought by "ground mail" (boat) too! The shipping costs on the 교보문고 website are the only thing standing between me and every single book I want, and they still don't fend all of them off...
I need a good TOPIK book. but it's hard to convince myself to buy one at double the price it would be in Korea when I already bought over 10 learning books on my trip in March. 😂 great vid.
+Whitney Chakara I feel you! When ever I see Korean products in the States, i can't bring myself to buy them because I know they are half the price in Korea. Ohhh I thought you lived in Korea! Haha my bad
Natalia Garza haha you are the second person to say that. shoot I wish I loved there it would save me so much money and be so much more interesting than North Carolina.
+momo gaiiinz Hi, Momo!! I've never studied with a TTMIK grammar textbook or workbook, so I can't give an opinion on how effective they are. But, I have studied with the PDF notes and other TTMIK books and loved all of them!! I've never heard a bad review of the grammar books either. I know that's not exactly the answer you were looking for, but I hope it was helpful!!
How is that serie of books for children (the ones whith different colors: pink, green and purple) called??? I really want to buy them because as you said, children books are the best thing to learn Korean. Thanks for the video!!! I really liked it!!! ♡♡♡
I'm planning to learn, korean but somehow i don't feel like I'm not productive, i don't know what good resources to be focused on, so thanks for the reccomendation :)
Haha omg one of my oldest videos 🤣 It was filmed just months after I let SCH~ May I ask when you were there??? It's pretty rare to meet someone that attended our school since it's not in Seoul~ I was there Spring/Fall of 2016!!
@@NataliaGarza Oh wow, I was there Spring/Fall 2017! I had a friend there Fall 2016, though, if you knew anyone from Shasta. I remember how the Korean students would always say it was a country school 🤣
i've been wanting to learn korean for years now because it's my families culture but also because I've been getting into kpop and a deeper love of the culture as i've gotten older, I believe i'm ready to learn the language. I know a couple of words because of what I was taught when I was younger but cannot speak fluently or understand when spoken to...
I bought them at a used book store in Korea 😅 But, if you want to try finding them online, the series is called 난 책읽기가 좋아 and the publisher is 비룡소!! :)
For beginners, if you look up the books to start with, try to listen to Korean first. What kind of conversation they make. From very simple and easy one. You don't need a book to start learning Korean
+appreciate kim seokjin Haha yeasssss~~ I couldn't believe his vocals at the beginning of Come Back Home!! I didn't know his voice could go that high!!
I bought them at a used book store in Korea 😅 But, if you want to try finding them online, the series is called 난 책읽기가 좋아 and the publisher is 비룡소!! :) I hope you can find some!
Hey Natalia, actually right now I'm at beginner level of learning Korean. It's really a good thought of yours learning from children's books but me being not living in Korea, it's kinda impossible to get those. So, can't I buy those from Amazon, is it available there?
I think the beginner books from TTMIK are pretty good for those who want to be casual learners! If you want something a little more intense and structured, definitely try the Integrated Korean books! If you are looking for something that will REALLY push you, I recommend the Ehwa level 1 books! You'd need the Ewha 1-1 and 1-2 books! You'd also need the study guides and workbooks! These would need to be ordered from a website like TwoChois.
I plan to once I finish up more of my books! I want to be able to give more recommendations/ mini reviews instead of saying, "hi! I bought this!" LOL you feel? 😄
Hi I really enjoy your videos! Can you tell me what the names of the books that you use for reading the green one you showed? I want to see if I can find them on Amazon since I'm a beginner and I'm having trouble finding books that are on my level. Thank You!
I'm glad you said how hard it is learning from children's books! So many Koreans just tell me to read children's books because they are so easy and they don't understand when I disagree!
LOL NO.. Children's books are still challenging for me and I consider myself an intermediate learner 😂

I bought so many books when I lived over there too and I had to buy a separate suitcase for them! (That cost extra on American Airlines too!).
+le sigh 😂😂😂😂 I feel you~!! I sent so many packages home of just books!
+le sigh I regret nothing haha
all of them still new! I think you definitely keep it well!

Hi, guys~ I'm not home right now, but later today I'll make sure to look at them and let you now! :) And by intermediate books, do you mean the larger books? Like Doctor Stranger or like the Magic Treehouse books?
Yes :) The books from the children books to the right of the upper bookshelf, so it would be the larger books yeah :) Thank you!!
+LZura Ciu Okay, so the book series is called 난 책읽기가 좋아 and the publisher is 비룡소!!
+LZura Ciu The two children's chapter books are also published by 비룡소! One is called 마법의 시간여행 높이 날아라, 프테라노돈 and the other is 마법의 시간여행 도와 주세요, 흑기사!
