- Making Starter Strata Sets is the first step in your Kool Kaleidoscope Quilt. Ricky Tims has successfully guided quilters of every level through this process and the quilts always come out great. BUT you have to be patient because these are the "Ultimate Mystery Quilts". This is a free class. Ricky will help you pick your fabrics. There is no pattern needed. Ricky will show you how to make the template you will use. Now it is all up to you. But don't worry, an advanced beginner will be able to make an incredible quilt. Welcome to TheQuiltShow.com.
The Class begins July 26 at 10am and is recorded for later viewing.
All Lessons will go here:

Great instructions!
Hi Ricky! Better late than never from Perth West Australia
Wow! What a wonderful class - I watched it on RUclips 3X and I'm so excited! I've quilted for 40 years(O.M.G.) and now see very few new ideas and techniques, but this looks fresh and fun! Thanks Ricky, you are the best!
Using mirrors like your friend did to watch TV might make it worth watching! Maybe the TV should be muted for more entertainment value.
Hello my name is Grace from Millsap Texas.
I tried asking in the forum and during live, can't seem to figure out the forum.
My question, do you consider scale of print? I have a black background fabric with orange & pink flowers that I would like to use. It's a medium scale. Can I use and should I use it in small pieces?
Hi from Nokomis FL. Looking forward to your quilt. Awesome!
Thank you so much Ricky. We are coming out of the latest lockdown here and I feel like celebrating with your quilt! I really look forward to the process of making the strata and visiting my stash then the fabric store :-) Best wishes from Hazelwood North, Victoria, Australia
Mirboo North here. 😉
Thank you for your class from Clare Blenheim New Zealand
Info:
“Strada” means STREET in Italian and Romanian.
So, basically Ricky is building here “STREETS”…
Like the streets of a block of building in a city.
You’re welcome Ricky 🤗
What a fabulous teacher you are
How big is the quilt behind you? wonder how many you'd need to make a queen or king size blanket.
Could you use fat quarters and make 4-20" stratas (instead of 2- WOF stratas) out of each set? That way you would have 20 pairs, instead of 10 pairs but still use the same 5 templates?
Hello from NE Iowa
Thanks
Hi Ricky from Suffolk County, (Long Island) NY
I took a pause and looked at the internet this is one of those inspirations that make me want to drop current work in process and make a kaleidoscope quilt.
Hi there … late of course. …. From The Netherlands 💋🎈😅🇳🇱
Love this and I’ll be sewing along with you! Advice on color…. Should each strata be different shades of one color or should we try to incorporate 1 or 2 of the same fabrics in every strata. I know it’s all subjective but I don’t want it to look like a big ugly hot mess! 🤣
So Beautiful and makes a striking quilt! Thank you for sharing your talent and ideas!
Is there a way to make it smaller? I'm thinking a shorter strata and smaller templates.
Venice ,Fl. , Ricky, I so admire your attitude, expertise, your music! Too many things to mention but thank you for all you do and give us quilters!
When you said 5 pairs, are all the pairs using the same 5 or 6 fabrics?
@@sharonpalmer1358 no he says you can repeat some fabrics but not all
@@sharonpalmer1358 each pair is identical, all pairs can use a mix of different or partly same fabrics
The quilt behind you looks like it is six sided. Should we be making six sets of strata?
This is so enjoyable! Thank you! Quilting solo since 2004. What a joy!
Been looking for a project - so let's see!!!
Where can I order the kit? Or pattern?
two people are talking over each other. Is this your problem or mine?
Hmmmm. I think yours. Any chance you have it running in two tabs?
Great instructions. So excited to begin and see it develop!
Can you use a jelly roll to make the strata?
This will be such fun! Thank you!😊
Can I make a miniature from this

Broke my wrist in September. Just climbing back on board. So thankful your great instruction videos are available.
Hello!!!!
Hmmm going to try this. Thanks Ricky.
more action and less talk, please....demonstrate more. The phone messages were obviously distractiing to Ricky. How about written instructions? Thanks.
no written instructions. Everything is explained in the video. The phone is where he was getting the questions from.
Take notes or look at the video again
He has a book on the technique if you need written instructions.
You could watch it once more - some of us learn with auditory instructions. Or you can turn off the sound.
We all need 'tweeting' in our learning, as all public school teachers know. As adults we can compensate
for the learning we don't quite understand. xox
