- A quick mission, in which I intercepted a bunch of Bombers and escorters with my 109. You can see some new features of 2.5, for example the better tracers, flak effects etc.

Why is the damage model so sh*t?
The damage model is WIP, everybody knows or should know that. If you want to complain, go to the forums.
Why are the bombers so low?
For fun & Entertainment.
Why did the Mustangs not maneuver?
They are AI's...
Why did they not kill me earlier?

Why did I ram the Mustang?
Was not my intention. Just AI doing AI stuff in DCS.
Why did I miss all my 30 mils?

Mate, it's a video, done to entertain. The sim is not perfect and if you want to have something improved, go to the devs and not to youtube channels.

That was nice of the developers to make the gunners totally useless for your convenience.
Must've spent too long at the local pub the night before. Although it is probably pretty difficult to hit a small target flying at more than 300 miles an hour.

I cannot wait till DCS seriously overhauls the damage modeling and try something new like dynamic damage and soft body physics.
i asked about that. dynamic damage is beyond of PC capabilities+average net speed.
look no further than BeamNG Drive. As for dynamic damage, all that technically is is bullet hit here at this angle make damage transparency B and body deformation around decal would be handled by the soft body physics.
BeamNG is great. all sim developers will used that, when technicaly, internet speed, and average PC owners possible.
Doesn't Rise of Flight and IL-2 BoS already use some sort dynamic damage?
No, it uses static decals like the old ones, and actually certain damages have been removed that where present in the original. Cliffs of Dover has a better damage model than that ( except for the wings and the planes turning into a plume of smoke when touching in mid flight )

@Can Aksu Yeah. I know it's a known issue and they've been promising to work on that for ages (and the ATC, and other things), but it's still breaking the mood somewhat... don't own 1946 but IL-2 BOX put the bar really high for the damage model, the sound and the graphics, I hope DCS can catch up at some point!

I wish this game could run resolutions above 1080p better. At 1080p can use practically all AA on ultra and then on 2560x1440p it runs crap with any AA. It seems like they only optimised it for 1080p properly. I have to use GPU scaling so the image isn't stretched out but then the screen is so small possibly 20" from 27" stretching looks ugly. BTW I have a 4770K @4.4Ghz and a RX Vega 64 LC running pretty high 1750-1800Mhz and the HBM2 1145Mhz.

Contrary to all historic records, B-17s seem to be made of toilet paper soaked in gasoline.
I didn't realise the B-17 was made of tissue paper.....
what is burning in B-17 on fuzelage? and very easily bf-109 shut down the bombers, really it was very hard. In game "IL-2 Sturbovik" air battle like this are more realistik.

I read and that is nothing to change. Why and what burning exactly fuselage is every B-17? but not fire engines that must be in really airbattle
Why does the fuselage burn?
It's an old damage model and this is usual with that old system.
Now i cant help but think that P-51 is out of ammo because he is flying rings around you, owning you but never took a shot.

Another nice video dude, yeah DCS need some improvements about DM, ai behavior ecc. (How many times we chatted about it?) But the FM is much more realistic and immersive than the competitors around combat simulator. But my perverse dream is to have a flyable b17 with this level of realism

A bomber as a Module would surely be interesting :D B-17 or not, most bombers would be nice to have
Sad that IL-2 1946 damage effects when damaging bombers is more impressive with parts flying off compared to this new release in 2018.

time to time. They say that will be improving all aspect about ww2, we know as well the ED. They are long, really long, but I see that every promises are kept, not ignored. And I repeat, for me now with a bad DM but a impressive FM is better than others now. Unfortunately DCS born for the jets, was unecessary an elegant DM, but they work about it, and seem will be at same level Blitz from the pics (for me blitz have the best DM currently, better than BoX)
War thunder looks and plays better then this game does, and war thunder is free... Not sure what the hype is all about with DCS but it's leagues behind most other games in the genre.

Damn the AI flight level must have been on cupcake. I know for a fact that B-17's where not that easy to shoot down. They came apart like they were made out of paper.
He is not attacking from behind, but instead taking high speed approaches from above and high aspect shots. No exploit here.

Very nice video. Poor damage model however. Those B-17s drop way too quickly and do not seem to absorb any damage. I am still of the opinion that DCS going into WW2 area was a huge mistake on the side of the management. There are many and clearly way more potent Sims out there that have specialized on the WW2 genre, most and foremost IL-2 Sturmovik BOS BOM BOK which in my oppinion is the Nr.1 address for WW2 flight sims. ED - DCS wasted a lot of time and resources in 2017 to bring out a beautiful map, Normandy, WW2 assets pack and after years they have come up with only 4 (!) planes of this era (Bf 109K, P51-20D, Fw 190D9 and the Spit Mk 9. DCS was and still is fantastic when it comes to modern air combat and also combat helicopters but the WW2 venture of their´s was a huge mistake in my eyes and they will not manage to ever even come close to IL-2 with all respect. I simply cannot understand their decision from a strategic marketing point of view. They had total supremacy in modern air combat sims and instead on focusing on their core competence they opted for spending time and resources for entering WW2 genre with what can only be described as an ongoing eternal construction site sucking away time and resources that could be used to bring the much needed and long awaited improvements and features to modern air combat. It seems obvious at least to me that Eagle Dynamics bit off way more here than they can chew with WW2.

I love ED for the superb work that's gone into the modern era part of DCS. But, alas, I'm inclined to agree with you on the basis that, had the Second World War section been released by an unhead of company, the damage models would have been publicly ridiculed to the point of brand destruction. This appears to be a classic Economics example of brand power. But they'd better hurry up with fixing the DM!! Until they do, my Spitfire will remain firmly parked on the ground. I refuse to fly it any more, no matter how immersive the actual flying experience is, until things are improved.

no. is good they do it. with 2.5 is far beyond any sim. but they need only to improve damage model, improve... they actualy didnt done an damage model yet...its some beta..:)))

He wrote many times in his letters that the 17 was the toughest plane ever built, and all the literature I've read kinda backs him up on that. ...so why are they crumbling here like balsa wood paper kites on DCS? This kinda tells me that DCS might be a little "off" on their damage models, maybe in favor of vanity scoring its players enjoyment.

They put all this time, money into this game. Why not do it right. Why not not do some homework on this game. Have most of the bombers and fighter bases in England as they looked during the war. If possible all of England and from France to Germany. Now you could have some real air battles. I know it's too much to ask for. Just dreaming out loud.

Yes poor dmg model. Historically absolutelly unaccurate.... You can see the real guncams to see how much hits the B-17 can handle....

Not my fault that the AI suddenly slowed down and rolled right. The roll rate of the 109 ain't the best.
A little to arcadic DCS a 109 is going to bring down a B- 17 on the first pass REALLY!!!! Unlimited ammo to?, nothing against the gamer just the game.
While we all can agree that the damage model is bad, unlimited ammo was not turned on.

In the deadliest raid of the war (Schweinfurt-Regensburg) the US lost around 26% of their attacking bomber force. In DCS, Warthunder etc I regularly see 60, 70 and 80% losses or more.
Sorry, really ruins the immersion for me.

Atrocious damage-modelling that does ED no favours at all. Instead of putting so much effort into getting the next new greatest module out the door, fix the existing ones. People seeing this kind of thing will make the sensible decision not to buy the new stuff, seeing how quickly it gets dumped full of flaws, bugs and incompleteness.
