Bought it after watching your video. Carlink T2C is a total disappointment. Sort of glitchy and slow, prone to disconnect. Within a week, neither phones could connect. Returning it to Carlinkit is a nightmare. BUYERS BEWARE!!!
U should try DYLNK TECHNOLOGIES I have there device and has pretty much no lag
Great idea... works - occasionally - terrible connectivity issues with the most recent iPhone software it seems. If you are expecting a system that consistently works - this is NOT it currently! Oh and online tech support - NONEXISTANT!
U should look into this company called Dylnk technology there device works pretty flawlessly with teslas they also have phone tech support
Thanks a million, that was the only missing feature I was looking to add to my Tesla MY.
Works perfectly as described.
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! Now I just need to get Tesla. Thanks TRU again for another great video.
This device you may be excited about for one week and give it up. Steps to connected and relying on a browser.. too complicated and not OCD friendly. Lol
Great idea but I swear I have seen something similar in the past using a browser and I remember the idea died within few months.
Tesla needs to allow this on the get go, thats when I am sure I would use.
Do you need to turn on personal hotspot when driving and turn off personal hotspot when not driving to use home/work wifi for your phone internet?
Does it auto connect when you get back in the car or do you have to use the browser and URL every time? Also, can it have two users (drivers)?
you have to open the browser and link every time. its best to add the link to the browser favorites if you do use this
Do you have to keep the hotspot open while using it?@@chefboyartty
The CarlinKit is now in the drawer. The device is unreliable and very difficult to connect. I purchased the Ownice version and it’s much more reliable and connects every time. Also performs better.
I'll second that. And I'll add that their support has been fantastic. If I ever have questions, they are good at answering quickly. Much better than I expected for the price.
Where did you purchase the ownice device? I tried looking on Amazon but couldn't find it. I tried their trashy website but didn't see any link there either.
I don't have Premium Connectivity since I made decision to switch to Ownice, previously T2C, and Personal Hotspot for Tessie and Tesla Connectivity.
On long distance trips I enter the destination and Tesla Nav. selects SuperChargers.
I, then, enter the location of a SuperCharger in Waze.
While the routes are typically the same, the added visual and audio route conditions coming from Waze, can not be matched by Tesla Nav. with Premium Connectivity, IMHO.
I would say that Ownice has met my expectations even though there is about a 30 sec delay for it to boot up.
Excellent video and save to laptop so I can follow ur steps to setup. 😊thanks.
I think that using the phone's hostpot is not a good idea, not all people have unlimited mobile hostpot, this could result in extra charges with your phone company, using a SIM card I don't understand if it has to be activated or it can be use any, could you clarify this, thank you, I await your response
Next: how to get your Amazon Prime video on your Tesla?
When you play youtube video does lips matching issue fix this device ?
Whats the benifit of this???
Can you listen to music with regular radio or from the USB flash drive using this setup? Must you listen to the music from your phone or Carplay?
Would be nice if waze could show all the superchargers and all other dc chargers on the map in your route,p..During roadtrip, what i hate with Tesla navigation is thst You have to trust your tesla navigation and the recommended next supercharger. i would like to see on the map in realtime other option to charge that i can simply click on it and it will set the minor change without changing the entire route, On tsla interface Right now you have to manually click search and select supercharger tab and it will pop tons of superchargers points ….then you have to pick one and select add to your route and it will recalculate evrything and you may mess up p the original route.. and ofcourse tesla navigation only show superchargers.. on the waze interface i wish it could do better aswell and let you see all the charging points along the road in real time,
Will the other device work? I have that one.
I bought this and set it up and it’s working, but I’m getting extremely choppy, stuttery audio. Any ideas?
Which is the best carplay device. Have you reviewed the many on the market?
I just got mine no connection problem, but it super slow and sluggish. Not happy so far.
Do you find it necessary to have to frequently refresh the page.
It getting audio. Any suggestions?
Will this device let me see my Sirius XM app and open it on the Tesla main screen?
Will this work with a 2020 Model 3 with the Atom processor? Does it stay connected to WiFi even in reverse? What about if you want to listen to a music source built into the Tesla system? Will maps continue to work, for example, or phone?
Why does my Tesla play the music through my phone and not my car
Do I need to be subscribed to tesla internet?
Do you still have a internet connection true the carlinkit wifi on your tesla? Because mine doesn't have any internet connection anymore when I try to use Netflix for example.
Buyer beware. Will not work for me, customer "support" is basically non-existent and it will cost me $30 more than I paid for it to send it back. Complete rip off!
Did anyone get a blank black screen when it connects? Everything is connected, but all I get is a blank black screen. Running a iPhone 14 Pro w/ public beta 16.6
Can you put the link please?
Can I use this device on a 2022 Model S...?
Quick question if you could please answer…does the hotspot from your phone need to remain on at all times or just during set up?
Has to be connected if you are using your phone for data, otherwise you can use a SIM card in the device
@@TechRoundUp thank you for the quick response. Much appreciated. I just received mine and will set up in the next few days. Based upon your reply, thinking the SIM card would be easiest to just get in and go.
I can't get audio on mine. Any suggestions?
I do have premium connectivity in the tesla, shouldn’t that help with connecting the TC2?
You still have to connect the T2C instead of using the premium connectivity, so then everything is routed through your phones hotspot
I find that going into reverse makes me load browser and hit favorites again... is this expected?
You shouldn’t need to do that, but not sure on the cause for your specific situation
I can get to connect!! I don’t understand what is going on with it. I can connect it on my cell but not to the Tesla. The WiFi signal from the auto kit times out or it’s barely one bar. My cell is 2 bars and LTE. Not sure if it’s the toggle or not, any suggestions before I return it pls
It also tells me Unable to obtain IP address. Please check DHCP server settings. WTH does that mean!?!
It usually means the hotspot connection between your phone and the T2C isn’t strong enough, you can see how it works with a stronger signal or try a sim card
@@TechRoundUp ok ty! That’s what I was afraid of, I was hoping it wouldn’t require another expense
Thanks for your video - I got a T3 box Ownice - but it doesnt work in Drive mode , only in Park mode - as soon as the car changed to Drive mode - the browser fuction disappeared - is anyone know how to fix this , TIA
Yeah same here….anyone else know how to keep browser intact?
Did you enable stay connected to Wi-Fi in drive?
it cannot connect to wifi
So much upspeaking.. but otherwise good content.
it does not work
Don’t buy this. Mine hasn’t worked since iOS17 came out.
*downgrade
Lol it s your opinion man , tesla map is a joke and so is the apple music app

Tesla infotainment is trash. Tesla navigation is the worst

Thanks for the feedback. Saved me from buying one. You see so many commercials masquerading as honest videos on RUclips today. It's hard sometimes to distinguish the truth from someone essentially just trying to sell you something.
tbh I’ve been using mine with no major issues since filming this video. Sucks you had that experience with yours
That's fair. You can only report on what you experience.
