Absolutely loving the Japan trip the fish look amazing Just getting more into the hobby now myself, Japan would be the perfect place to explain the differences in types of koi please ? Keep the good stuff coming mate 👍🏼 Thank your mother for the koi
Hi Andy. I’ve only been keeping koi for one season, after inheriting a pond with my new home, but I’ve struggled with blanket weed blooms all year. I’ve tried MANY different remedies, but honestly believe the quickest way to stop it, is to clean it out little and often (daily, sometimes twice daily). It’s convenient to leave it to build up in the filter and clean less often, but I truly believe this promotes further growth within the water. I can’t prove it, but it would somewhat make sense to me. All I know is, when I now clean it out little and often, ensuring my mechanical filtration is as clean as can be most of the time, it clears up extremely quickly. I also use a large landing net and sweep the pond with it once a day, which can catch a lot of the long suspended stuff. Just a thought, as I have felt your pain!
Just wow! Some stunning examples yet again! I love how the guys shoo you away when they’re negotiating, it cracks me up 😂 I’m pretty sure that river you were looking at was the same one Lee Hadfield was filming, much lower flow and clear at the time and there were koi in it, one or two looked decent too. I’ve never been a huge fan of Aragoki koi but I’ve seen some stunning examples this year, I could be tempted for the right one. I hope you find that one special fish for yourself, what a memento that will be 🥰
I’m now addicted to your Japan koi adventure. Wife is threatening to send me to Koi rehab. By the way , Why can’t you tote one of those big ones with you on plane home? Just tell them it’s an Emotional Support Animal. Jerk a little when telling customs might help lol enjoy bro
