We had a mack rd rolloff with the E9 at 450hp and 2150ft lbs of torque, it would pull 80,000 over the grapevine, drop one gear 60 miles an hour. But it was murder on drive tires.
I have this very engine in my 91 Toyota pickup.....she's a cold starter on this Montana winter mornings, but once she fires up, all the neighbors know it's time to rise and shine!
Don't get me wrong I'm not against it but why the heck would you throw this in a yota? Seems like a giant waste considering the small wheelbase, brakes, weight, etc. Or are you just joking an I'm being a dummy?
He was pulling back on the fuel rack with his hand. If you pull back far enough the engine is starved of fuel and turns off. If you pull back partially the rack only lets some fuel in and you get a loping idle. Pulling a fuel rack back to stop fuel flow is how most older commercial and industrial engines are turned off. They are normally kept running by turning on a solenoid which keeps the rack in the idle position.
So I would like to know the reason for the 3 inch restriction, could you please follow up and explain the build. There are some of us out here that have inquisitive minds that need some facts.😃 Thanks for the video.
first of all i am thinking of bying a truck equip with that engine i want to know if parts for it are easy to find, secondly how did they get that much power out of it,,i know mack sent them with only 500 hp

The E-9's had a bark but were unreal on the road. Smooth and steady and raw power. From idle on up.
Now that’s a true Pistonhead smile.

I love the way that BULLDOG barks!

Earphones in and repeat for the next hour .this is a fine sounding motor . operator seems to think so too 🇮🇪

How big is this motor. I think 350 hp is more real.
It's a Mack E9, displacement of 998 cubic inches or 16.35 liters. Stock horsepower ratings ranged from 400 up to 650.
They released higher hp options for tank applications up to 1250hp quad turbo so yeah, it's definitely not 350hp.
do you know the difference between an E9 and an EE9 ?
Hey will that motor fit in my R model Mack...ha hah
Well that’s 10 gallons of fuel warming up.
Как называется конкретно мотор?
Mack V8 EA9/EE9, also used in Renault Magnum 560.
I believe it's around 16.4 L displacement.
Can I buy one off you guys
