OMG. This makes so much sense. I love your visual aids. They really helped me understand how it should fit and why my darts don’t look great. Thank you.
Thank you!! Just wanted to say how helpful this was. I looked everywhere in books and on the internet but you really gave the best explanation and tips! I was finally able to fix the pointy darts on my dress 😊
This was a very helpful and thorough explanation! I’ve had a garment sitting in my sewing room for about a year, taken apart more times than I’d like to admit because no matter what I tried, the dart created an unpleasant silhouette. Excited to try these principles to finally get the right shape!
This was exactly what I needed! I bought two dresses for a wedding and they are both shaped terribly wrong. I am running out of time to keep ordering ill-fitting dresses and the one that fits the best has bust darts that literally come to 90 degree angles more than an inch in front of my bust. I'm going to give this a shot and hopefully fix this issue and not have to seek a third dress.
The answer is yes and no, there are a few sewing variables like fabric and body proportions that need to be considered. I will plan on making a video to cover these point in depth in the next couple weeks. Stay tuned!
Great tips on how to shape the darts. However, very disappointed in the title, as I was searching for an actual demonstration of "how to sew" a curved dart - the actual act thereof, rather than how to best shape a dart (on paper) to a curved area.
Literally the best Diy sewing tutorial ever❤ thank you 🎉
Wow, thank you!

Thank you! I’m just a beginner, but it didn’t make sense to have straight pointy darts on curvy areas. 😳
Thanks
How do you shape a dart if the point stops 1.5 inches from the apex? I'm not fond of a dart ending directly at the apex but rather 1.5" from the apex.
Put that final point in her diagram at the spot you will stop at. That’s about where. I need to stop as well but needed help shaping them.
Is there a limit to how wide you can go at the side seam? I need a total of 6" dart at the side seam.

Hi Kay! I have uploaded a recent video related to this. I hope it will help you out. Watch this tutorial: ruclips.net/video/XyWTySKof4c/видео.html
I had a hard time hearing you well. I increased the volume, but it didn't work.
