    Thanks Doctor!
“It is estimated that the port of Antwerp was earning the Spanish crown seven times more revenues than the Spanish colonization of the Americas” Wikipedia.
This ended when the Spanish had forced the city council to get rid of the Portuguese Jews among them the famous Dona Gracia Mendes-Nasi in 1549 . It didn’t take long for Spain and its Antwerpen to decline as the world’s economic power . The new hub became Amsterdam with its tolerance for jews .

Thank you for this broadcast. I did have some mixed feelings on some things. Nonetheless, I enjoy learning about scholars. And you are right, the S sounds in the Amerisas are pronounced with the TH sound in Spain.

The only TH sounds in Spanish are the "C" and the "Z" not with "S" like in " Gracias and Zeta😊

I am a descendent of Moses Navarro of Portugal. The family seems to have thrive during 1400s. Today I am of Greek Orthodox religion. The Jewish heritage was washed away over the years in Mexico. Of course they became catholics. They came from Mexico into the US in early 1900s. I always felt history matters.
Seems there where 3 generations who were: rabbis, physicians, tax collector. Something about a Papal Bull which saved the lives of Jews
Is there some place I can find more information.
Whenever I hear the expression, “those people” to refer to marginalized people, I say “hey, those are my people”. 3:28

I the Spanish language spoken in Spain, only the letters (soft) C and Z have that pronunciation you used in this very interesting video. Also, the letter S in Spanish sounds always like in the English word "single" - never like a Z, as in the word "demise".
