      ... but be real, you want her to be your psychologist not only for that brain. She has some good messages but also potentially dangerous. Are people that go forth committing heinous acts mentally unstable, incapable, and ill? Yes. But that doesn't make the line thin between someone like Ted Bundy and us any thinner. Trying to blend a crimes of passion / anger with a calculating serial killer or ruthless dictator is quite far-fetched.
      She's clearly a very intelligent, incredibly attractive woman, and great speaker, but I sense some of that Mindhunter sympathy going on here. It comes with the field, and someone might go on to try and blend what is actually right and wrong. Then that leads into blending what is humane and not humane. Gets a little dangerous.

    • @猫会飞
      @猫会飞 4 года назад +11

      I disagree. Her talk was good and she is clearly an intelligent and competent woman. At the same time, she obviously put effort into enhancing her physical appearance for this performance. Thus, one must assume that she sees her physical presentation as a significant aspect of her performance in addition to the content of her talk. Why, then, is it wrong to comment on her good looks?
      In my view, her talk and her looks are two separate issues. I don't think commenting on her looks detracts from the value of her talk. Her talk would have been just as good a talk if she were not good looking. The fact that she's also beautiful just adds to her appeal.

      It's so sad to see the level of "critical thought" in the Western world is that trying to explain a phenomenon is trying to justify it. If people tried to be more inquisitive Dr Shaw wouldn't even need to qualify her point like that.

      Which is actually a very interesting point when it comes to the topic of dehumanization that Dr. Shaw mentioned. The "humans" that you have killed in those games aren't actually humans. They're computer code and polygons on a screen. They don't actually exist. So killing them is fine.
      But it's when we start thinking about real people in the same way, as "not real people", that's when it gets dangerous.
      As long as you can see the difference between real life and video games (which I will assume you can) and only kill people in video games, I think you're fine.

    Since I'm here, I should say that from my perspective, there are two aspects to her talk. There is a scientific aspect, and a philosophical aspect. The scientific aspect seems to be what a lot of people are focusing on, which it seems is far off the mark. The philosophical aspect however is more subtle. You may think that she is privileged because of her blonde hair and good looks, but that is not always true, and as you can see here, the response that she has gotten from this video is probably the response that she has gotten in other places too, perhaps also while growing up and while in school. There is a dismissive and judgmental aspect to the response which may actually DISTANCE her from people, thereby possibly feeding into a disconnected mentality and also meaning that people don't take the time to discuss her ideas with her on a human basis. If people refuse to do this with you, you will not grow along with them, and then you end up in these positions. She very well could be extremely lonely, but many would never assume so, and many would never acknowledge the validity of that emotion if they discovered it simply due to their judgmental attitude and the fact that they dismiss it by saying that however lonely she is, she is more privileged and therefore already happier.
    Thereby creating these distinctions and disconnects, society then complains and attacks these levels of hierarchy which you yourselves refuse to acknowledge your involvement in and your contribution to.
    Go back and watch the video, and you'll see that a good portion of it was talking about this exact dynamic. You just didn't even see it as such.

      28then I will act with furious rage against you, and I Myself will punish you sevenfold for your sins.
      29You will eat the flesh of your own sons and daughters.
      30I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars, and heap your dead bodies on the remains of your idols; and My soul will despise you."

    Pfheww you are kinda intimidating in a way that I don't know if good or bad... You have to tone it down if you want to reach a substantial amount of people!! Like seriously 90% of population can't relate to this type of "perfectionism". People will think you're being pure arogant if you don't tone it down significantly and keep spitting onconventional wisom on them without a pause. Make fun of yourself , be relatable. Also on physical aperance... You dress fine, but like it's too much. Have some accesoire of part of the outfit that shows you're also fun and chill. I want to like you on a personal level, but you make it REALLY difficult for me to relate to you in this talk
    btw not all is bad. I put a like on the video. The topic, the ppt slides and your thoughts on it I love! It's similar to the thinking I have had since being a kid :)

      Uhm, why is accessory or humor important? It's about the topic. And I think that is important and interesting enough to ignore that she is not self-humorous or dressed up like a barbie-doll.
