- Shore Protection - Ecological Tank
Concept
Ecological tank is a hollow concrete casted unit with openings on the surface. It is designed to provide a habitat for aquatic creatures when apply in the water. And for application above the watertable, soil can be filled into the hollow space for vegetatve purpose.
Application
Waterfront access areas, such as river and pond.
Characteristics
1. Its porous design is able to form an ecological corridor along the water.
2. Durable and high resistance to erosion.
3. Providing habitat for aquatics and space for vegetation.
4. The artistic design is able to shape and enhance the landscape.

The official website of the ACE Geosynthetics EcoPark is now online. More than 20 engineering application methods can be found in the park. They can be divided into six groups, including Reinforcement Application, Erosion Control, Shore Protection, Landscape Engineering, Environmental Conservation and Other Constructions. The site covers construction works like mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls, road embankments, reinforced pavements, landfills, slope protection, ecological ponds, levees, marine structures, and more. Geosynthetic materials such as geogrids, geotextiles, geotextile tubes, geomats and geomembranes have been used in the building of this park.
Geosynthetic products have been in the market for decades. However, many people still do not know what geosynthetics are and what they can do for engineering and construction. The application of geosynthetics can provide more efficient and environmentally friendly approaches to engineering problems.
ACE Geosynthetics designed and constructed this full-scale park to demonstrate some practical designs and applications of geosynthetic systems. The park also advocates for lower environmental impact in construction methods. Of course, there is far more for the visitor to discover. Detailed explanations, such as design drawings, 3D models, construction instructions, construction videos, case studies etc. are offered in the website.
