About me: Hi! my name is Shivani and I am a second year student at UBC, studying International Economics! The campus at UBC is absolutely gorgeous and I try to explore Vancouver and surrounding BC as much as possible. That youtube video that really helped me? Yeah that got taken down: the key tip that I picked up was write your personal profile keeping three adjectives in mind. How do you want to come across? For example, if you want to come across as smart, think - how would a smart person say this? Keep in mind your adjectives as you write :)

I just got into UBC too and was on the lookout for such videos but they are so rare to come by! I'm sure this guide will help many students in their applications.
And you're right: not everyone feels comfortable sharing such details and it often ends up becoming a comparison, but an important advice I got whenever I felt imposter syndrome kick in was "even if your candidature is relatively worse than others, you are still going to be in the same class with all these brilliant people - meaning that the university saw something in you that made up for it"
People usually avoid such topics by saying that every person is different and you need to find out yourself, but having a reference profile as a data-point really helps
