This video will tell you, along with some helpful visuals, about my ubc application process and experience. You will be told about my grades, reading through my personal profile and getting a look at my supplemental application (in that order)

Hiiii! Thank you so much for sharing this!!! I'm currently a grade 11 student in Vancouver and I've been feeling quite overwhelmed. I'm considering applying for media studies in UBC but I'm still questioning myself if this is the right path for me or not. University application process seems so complicated, it's sooo nice to have someone who just went through the process to talk about it! ❤️
Yeah, of course! It seems overwhelming and I felt the same when applying. Having to organize everything, keeping track of payments and deadlines.... it’s a lot. I’m always here if you need to rant or if you need advice!!

Is an 84% in gr 12 English good enough to get into Political Science? I'm stressed out cuz all my other courses are 90s so far except for English and I know English is really important for Humanities and Social Sciences so I'm freaking out.

Hi! How do university calculate your average cuz I might consider dropping drama since it’s not one of the requirements and it might affect my average.
Also if I take a 30 level course during grade 11, does it counts and only counts in my grade 11 average? Thank you!
I did it by year first, and I think that's how they do it too! They may look at all your 30 level classes as a whole too. Either way, do whatever you think is best and would help your average :)

it was when I applied for BMS! different programs and years will be different, but make sure to check for any portfolios or supplemental application (that's what it was called) requirements

Hi I’m from the U.S. but I am a Canadian citizen, I submitted my personal profile to be eligible for the Presidential Scholars Award which is due dec 1. It says I can upload an interim transcript and act score should I do that before dec 1? Or before the deadline March 15 that is listen in the student center?
I would upload by dec 5- the sooner the better! It also might be for early consideration, so it won't hurt to do it sooner
Hi! Thanks for making this video it was really helpful! I am also making an online portfolio with Weebly and I just had a question. How did you add different links for each category for your portfolio pieces? Like how there's a box to click that leads you to your scripts specifically. I can't seems to add that like you did unless I create a new page. Basically what I'm asking is how did you add the links the way you have it on your website? Thank you so much!
Hey, happy to help! What your asking for is how to create a link to a pdf, or a RUclips scene? (or something along those lines, correct? Let me know if I'm wrong!) So what I did is create a textbox, and then type whatever I want to type or paste whatever link I want. Now when you paste the link, it doesn't show up. It shows up as text. Highlight the text and then at the top of the textbox (where it gives you the option to make it bolded, underlined, etc) there's an option to create a link. The symbol looks like a boxy chain link. Click that, and there will be options that come up that say website url, file, standard page, etc. Click whichever one you are wanting to link! So if you wanted to link a RUclips video, click 'website url' and paste the RUclips video URL into the section. Click enter, then click anywhere on the page to get rid of it and your link should be there! Hope that makes sense 😅

For UBC Film Production how competitive is it and what are the chances of getting in? I’m currently in grade 12 with a high 80s average

Hi! So you mentioned your grades for both of your terms in year 12. For year 11, do they look at all the terms and their grades too or just the final grade attained in 11th?
They look at your final marks for both terms in grade 11 and 12. However, in grade 11, they only look at the major ones such as English, maths and sciences, and don’t look too deeply into ones such as photography or foods

hey! do you think a 3.88 gpa can get me into UBC arts? and is there a difference between the US gpa and the Canadian gpa?
I know that in Canada, we don’t really do the _._ scale, but in the ubc website they convert Canadian gpa into that _._ scale! 3.88 sounds great though! Good job :)

This is the best video and channel for info on media studies at UBC. I applied to the program in late November and my status currently, says "Your application is currently being reviewed by the Faculty/School." does anyone know if that means I will be sent out a first roll offer? or when it will be sent out?
Aw, thank you so much!! That means so much to me. My personal experience is that first offer goes out in mid February and general goes out in late March. That’s when I got mine

How many students does BMS accept?
They accept 40 students every year, I’m pretty sure! The year I applied, they had 400 applicants

Hi! Almost all applications need a fee- especially a masters! Make sure ur friend has done a lot of info, wrote about something that she’s passionate about, and that her writing reflects her passion. Im not in the MOJ program, but it’s an amazing and very exclusive program! I hope she gets in!
