Trademark or not, taking the name of a business speaks volume to the business owner that Jaclyn is. She consistently runs into ethical issues, and, at this point, I’d steer clear of supporting her and her myriad of businesses. It’s a no for me.
I gave Jaclyn a chance after lipstick gate and purchased a couple lip oils from her after hearing so many great things. Long story short I was less than thrilled with the amount that you get and the quality of ingredients for the price. and after a few weeks they started to develop a chemically smell, almost like nail polish. And then this whole thing came about and that was the nail in the coffin for me. I don't care if Kalyn didn't have a trademark or of Jaclyn did or didn't do anything technically illegal. This just isn't how you treat people and I can't support it.

When I read "KOZE" as a german, I think "Kotze", which means vomit or puke. No association to coziness or "gemütlichkeit" at all. I think this name suits Jaclyn very well. And I hope Katlyn will find a new brand name soon.

When I first heard of Koze and what was going on, I googled Koze and the small creator popped up. There is no way Jaclyn and her team just so happen to miss it. It was done purposely without any regard for anyone else.
Kaylyn is more graceful than I am. I would have left my stuff just the way it was for awhile atleast and maybe she could have sold enough stuff to Jacklyns fan base due to the confusion to afford the legal battle that she probably could win. She was done sooo dirty. I really feel for her.
And FYI, not specific to just this case but EVERY attorney will always tell you that you have a shot regarding a lawsuit regardless of the truth. Attorneys want money an get paid no matter what. If I sell hats, I will always recommend wearing them, attorneys are no different, they sell time, they will always say u need their time.

Clearly you have empathy. There are many people who cannot empathize. It is a not matter of them chosing not to -- they just don't have the capacity. Those with the inability to have empathy for others have a different way of looking world and it affects their actions. You're absolutely right she should never have ripped off the name just because she could. Most people won't because they know it is wrong, unfortunately there are other people who don't. They don't lose any sleep over their exploits and when it is brought to their attention they honestly can't see it. It is an important life skills to learn how to spot out those types of people and protect yourself from them if possible.

at first i was just mostly listening to this video and my thought was "well, you can't expect someone to look at every single person who's used the word cozy" but seeing that it's the EXACT same spelling, aesthetic, etc?? i think the absolute minimum if you're going to start a business that has a specific spelling/trademark is to google it and see if anyone else has used it. i think jaclyn got super lucky in that she chose to steal from like the nicest person ever who chose not to trademark it and just let her have koze and to rebrand without even trying to sue for compensation, which she could have.

SHAME on J. Hill, AGAIN !!!!! She continually repeats her greedy selfishness and acts as though she’s the victim (kinda sounds like a couple that once resided in England and now not). I too thought that J. Hill’s channel content was good. But, when she began creating and selling makeup products, it just didn’t seem right for some reason. Then watched the reviews released by some makeup RUclips creators and after the other each of their complaints pertaining to the products (lipstick and other items) containing items in them that shouldn’t belong; their notifications to J. Hill was very poorly acted on. In fact, J. Hill sometimes placed blame onto the consumer, she really didn’t seem to take responsibility for any poorly created products; and due to her sickening actions I opted not to purchase anything from her as well passing the information to others I knew.
The only thing where I'm kind of like oh well is because she says that jacklyn hadn't trademarked yet so technically she could have still trademarked AND kept her brand AND Jacklyn would have had to stop. She decided to rebrand and start over. I don't like jacklyn never will buy anything from her and think she's shady as hell WHICH is why if it was my brand I would have fought for it got it trademarked and made sure she had to start over

It sounds like they only received one comment on a post before they launched. On all of Kayln's accounts that you showed I didn't see one mention of Koze (was that from after she rebranded?). Also, what did the brand sell? You mentioned that she does not currently sell loungewear. I wonder if because it was a noncompeting market it was not really looked at (there are other businesses in different sectors with the same name). I feel bad for Kalyn; it seems she has been put in a very difficult position. As a smaller creator, she does not have the privilege or financial support that Jacyln does. Though, I do not think that Kayln did her due diligence if she wanted rights to the name "Koze". She said her brand went untrademarked for five years. When I first heard of Koze and what was going on, I googled Koze and the small creator popped up. There is no way Jaclyn and her team just so happen to miss it. It was done purposely without any regard for anyone else.
Do we have an update on this shop? I tried searched for her to support her shop and I can't find her..
Kaylyn is more graceful than I am. I would have left my stuff just the way it was for awhile atleast and maybe she could have sold enough stuff to Jacklyns fan base due to the confusion to afford the legal battle that she probably could win. She was done sooo dirty. I really feel for her.
And FYI, not specific to just this case but EVERY attorney will always tell you that you have a shot regarding a lawsuit regardless of the truth. Attorneys want money an get paid no matter what. If I sell hats, I will always recommend wearing them, attorneys are no different, they sell time, they will always say u need their time.

But with her history of not giving AF about anyone but herself, I think she's to blame. Clearly you have empathy. There are many people who cannot empathize. It is a not matter of them chosing not to -- they just don't have the capacity. Those with the inability to have empathy for others have a different way of looking world and it affects their actions. You're absolutely right she should never have ripped off the name just because she could. Most people won't because they know it is wrong, unfortunately there are other people who don't. They don't lose any sleep over their exploits and when it is brought to their attention they honestly can't see it. It is an important life skills to learn how to spot out those types of people and protect yourself from them if possible.

at first i was just mostly listening to this video and my thought was "well, you can't expect someone to look at every single person who's used the word cozy" but seeing that it's the EXACT same spelling, aesthetic, etc?? i think the absolute minimum if you're going to start a business that has a specific spelling/trademark is to google it and see if anyone else has used it. i think jaclyn got super lucky in that she chose to steal from like the nicest person ever who chose not to trademark it and just let her have koze and to rebrand without even trying to sue for compensation, which she could have.
I loved her on the beginning. Then when I bought my first morphe pallet I realized she was on it for the money and stopped watching. Same with all of the other influencers

With the comments and big deal that she made about explaining the name, I feel like she was completely aware before. I also think that she saw the comments about it too. I just think she has no decency between this and everything else she has been involved in.
SHAME on J. Hill, AGAIN !!!!! She continually repeats her greedy selfishness and acts as though she’s the victim (kinda sounds like a couple that once resided in England and now not). I too thought that J. Hill’s channel content was good. But, when she began creating and selling makeup products, it just didn’t seem right for some reason. Then watched the reviews released by some makeup RUclips creators and after the other each of their complaints pertaining to the products (lipstick and other items) containing items in them that shouldn’t belong; their notifications to J. Hill was very poorly acted on. In fact, J. Hill sometimes placed blame onto the consumer, she really didn’t seem to take responsibility for any poorly created products; and due to her sickening actions I opted not to purchase anything from her as well passing the information to others I knew.
Not a fan of Jaclyn. She has proven time after time to have no integrity. I would ne ver give her my business and so surprised that others do!

The only thing where I'm kind of like oh well is because she says that jacklyn hadn't trademarked yet so technically she could have still trademarked AND kept her brand AND Jacklyn would have had to stop. She decided to rebrand and start over. I don't like jacklyn never will buy anything from her and think she's shady as hell WHICH is why if it was my brand I would have fought for it got it trademarked and made sure she had to start over
Jaclyn is just like her father in my humble opinion. She has no humility, she has no code of morals or ethics that she follows. He father was a Christian pastor I wanna say, I can't fully remember, but he had a savior complex && used going to Africa to like avoid taxes... he is also a big mess tbh. But when I learned that EVERYTHING about Jaclyn started making sense.... maybe they just genetically are wired to have a high level of narcissistic personality traits && are both just low on empathy scales....

Interesting topic! I had no idea Jaclyn launched a new brand. I agree that Jacyln's team should have reached out to Kalyn if they were made aware of the situation. I wonder if they actually were? It sounds like they only received one comment on a post before they launched. On all of Kayln's accounts that you showed I didn't see one mention of Koze (was that from after she rebranded?). Also, what did the brand sell? You mentioned that she does not currently sell loungewear. I wonder if because it was a noncompeting market it was not really looked at (there are other businesses in different sectors with the same name). I feel bad for Kalyn; it seems she has been put in a very difficult position. As a smaller creator, she does not have the privilege or financial support that Jacyln does. Though, I do not think that Kayln did her due diligence if she wanted rights to the name "Koze". She said her brand went untrademarked for five years. It sounds like Jacyln's team was picking a name based off of trademarks and since she did not have one, I could see this being an honest mistake. If Jaclyn knew & continued anyway, that’s a really rude move.

I used to follow JH yrs ago and stopped after lipstickgate. Funny enough, I decided to ck in today, and see if she ever chgd and became a good person. Sad to say, the first thing that popped up was her stealing Koze, and I realized that a snake in the grass is nvr going to chg and will always be what they’ve always been - a snake in the grass.

That’s a very good question. I 100% think she should have before. I think she stated how when they brand started Jaclyn didn’t have a trademark filed on it yet. But the legal battle had she filed it first would have been expensive.

I disagree and I'm not even a fan of Hill. The other girls brand is "ALL THINGS KOZE" But pronounced koz, hills brand is "KOZE" an pronounced cozy, it's different. If both of them could spell correctly we wouldn't even be having a problem 😂 The reason she can't sue is because she pronounces it differently. It's the same as two companies that sound the same but are spelled differently, like soap an sope, in this case spelled the same but sound different. I won’t buy from Jaclyn Hill. Not only did she do this to the Koze created but her jewelry designs are a knock off of Melinda Marie. She literally did videos in the past talking about Melinda Marie jewelry and how it’s her favorite designs and low and behold many of her pieces are literal clones of Melinda Marie jewelry.
