Good question Gerard, the IGT amplitude should be greater than 6 volts, for Toyotas that is. IGF just a square wave 5v or higher. Now, issues with IGF to coils, like high resistance in the wires or connectors, causes all kinds of problems. Thanks for posting , Mandy.

hi sir , mine is 1nr engine , first cylinder has no spark , could i bypas it using a volt meter , the code comes up p0038 , 02 sensor both are been replaced, ecu also ,im affaid ecu getting faulty egain , please could you tell me something. tq

Hi if igf is not responding is that a bad wire or bad pcm? Code is p0351 and it is not a coil and not a spark plug

No not possible.
The IGF signal is basically a SQUARE WAVE, alternating between zero and one.
The issue with the IGF is that in lots of new coils it doesn't work from factory, so you'll never get rid of the code.
