Have to say I am surprised Gibson are giving an in depth tour to a Chinese audience... you know they are the best in the world at de-construction and re-construction at half the cost right? Craft skills are no protection, they have villages painting old master copies by the lorry full.
Spartanm333. This is a Japanese tour. Since the 70’s, the Japanese guitar manufacturers have made amazing Gibson copies, “hence the lawsuit era” guitars that some are worth more than a real Gibson of the era. Japanese are traditional skilled craftsmen. If Gibson decided to license a new Orville line from Japan, I would definitely be interested.
@@edwardmonsariste4050 - indeed mate - I own a lawsuit Fender Super-Strat HSS by Young Chang circa late 80's - my son (who wasn't born when I bought it) has a 2017 Fender MEX Stratocaster HSS in a similar cream white colour. The Fenix is this model sans the red metallic paint - bit.ly/2TbfcLa. We sit them next to each other in a guitar stand and they are quite similar in the body although the YC is touch larger, made of alder. Both have maple bolt on necks. Arguably the YC is better equipped even today coming with a bound rosewood fret board, more flexible pickup controls, Floyd Rose and a less fussy head stock - the pots and selector switches needed contact cleaner after 25 years in a loft although the neck has remained true - the YC plays fine. I have a had a few discussions online about the YC since I got it back down for my son to play... it was second generation release produced after they decided to up the anti and provide more than Fender USA themselves - like the hum-bucker mod in the bridge (which Fender later copied into their official range) and Floyd Rose. It helped that Young Chang had the actual specs - as they were the appointed Squier manufacturer at the time :) Many argue, and I tend to agree, that it was way beyond a Squire of the time (same retail price) and knocking on the door of US Fender Strats for build quality. The fact mine is still playing well after all these years tends to give testament to that. Still it is a bit of a Frankenstein with the Jackson style head stock and odd controls = 3 x 3 way switches. I agree, Japanese guitars can be very high quality and TBH, so can Korean depending on the factory and the budget they are allowed. The 2018 Bernie Marsden (artiste edition) Limited PRS SE is a case in point - based on his late 50's Gibson LP (The Beast) it has a flame maple top over mahogany, creme binding, a period fat neck (worn in satin lacquer on the palm side - nice touch), quality hardware and high quality PRS pickups - in England I can get one for £500, about $730 and it will beat the crap out of a USA Gibson Les Paul Standard on output, tone and tuning stability - and I say that as a Gibson LP owner.
Spartanm333 Man I think those visitors are from Japan... And I want to say, everything’s got a price. In this world, exist good quality guitars and bad quality guitars. Being afraid of chibson winning the real one is such a kinda Insult to the American Brand. No mention of the dramatical difference of their price.
They stated that they finish 60 guitars a day. This means 420 per week, 1680 per month and 20,160 per year. So income of minimum (2000$ PER GUITAR) 40,320,000$ PER YEAR.
I sexually identify as an oven mitt no every guitar that leaves the factor is sold. Its the retailer that might only sell 40% and $2k number is retail price. How did I not know that a Les Paul is not a solid piece of wood? Just a hollow core with veneer glued on, huh. Seems like the standard should cost much less.
Those are ES-Les Pauls. They made a semi hollowbody LP from 2014-2016 or 17 similar in construction to the ES-335. All other LP models are still solid body, at least the ones they make now.
