Kiana was surviving in the animation because Hua was blocking critical hits using the feather, so one can also say that Hua is Kiana's plot armor lmao.

@@abaddon2040 Self insert MC is like honestly the only valid criticism. They probably aren’t as bad as Traveller or Trailblazer (Dreamseeker actually has their own backstory, personality, hobbies and interests) but it’s definitely a wack change. Though since they’re part of astral ring with songque it probably won’t be too bad.
Valk fighting with toys is kinda a wack criticism. RC already drops cats on people to fight lol.
We don’t even know anything about the storyline of part 2 yet/
Astral Ring is still mostly like ELFs - for all we know, the astral ring is how they balance newer characters (weaker main but access to astral balances it). Though even with that aside, y’all be acting like absurd powercreep doesn’t affect part 1 lmao - even HoTr is not recommended to pull for anymore for low spenders.

19:47 - Senti-chan(Herrscher of Sentience) lookseven angrier when Kiana used this technique 'cause this is the technique that Fu Hua's adopted daugther, Xeng Lixue, wasn't allowed to learn.
Lixue died by the hands of the Herrscher of the Void(sirin) at the Second Eruption.(22:13) Protecting Fu Hua.
So, in Senti's mind, Hua teached for the Lixue's murderer the technique she had denied for her own daughter.
And that stings, very painfully.
(Also, water's edge elf kinda resembles Lixue, and have few of her mannerisms too, 'cause Water's Edge was the Divine key that Hua gifted Lixue and teached how to master it.)
To be fair, the last time Fu Hua taught people that technique she got a sword through her head from those very same disciples as a result, so it's not like shiki-chan doesn't know why Fu Hua doesnt' give that away easily.
From the way Senti treats Kiana, she does differentiate between Kiana and the Herrscher of the Void persona (HoV), and Lixue likely doesn't have much more impact on Senti than anyone else in the 50,000 years of memories.
If Senti did hate HoV for murdering Lixue and conflate that with hatred of Kiana, she really wouldn't have been so chatty and cared so much about what Kiana thought. She isn't one to hide her emotions for that sort of thing if she sees someone as her enemy.
at the beginning of ch20 it is shown that she doesnt even remember lixue's name, it is blurred out as ##### #####

Hua's "Soul" was stuck with kiana after otto killed fu hua, and fu hua taugh kiana in her dreams during the arc city arc, before they got separated when kevin tried to kidnap her in africa and fu hua stoped him for few moments(b4 nagazora arc).
Same soul/feather that isn't assimilated back by senti after kevin give it back to her.
So, it's more a mix in between angry and surprise, 'cause Senti didn't know what hua and kiana passed togheter in between chapter 9 and 20.
The moment when Senti sees Kiana and is flabbergasted to see her use Eminence also holds some really great symbolism btw. Senti bragged about how she, at first, was Fu Hua, and then claimed herself as a better version of her, but the fact that Kiana managed to beat her with Eminence is the exact proof that she indeed wasn't Fu Hua nor a better version of her, because Kiana beated her with the art she was supposed to have mastered and perfectioned for 50000 years, so that must have brought her back to reality really hard. Also, when she saw Kiana using Eminence, she might have guessed she was going to get beaten by her, cuz we can see how dumbfoundedshe was when seeing it (of course,it was also cuz Eminence was Fu Hua's student's style in second eruption and because she didn't know what Kiana and Fu Hua went through in Arc city) but also cuz she screamed that she wouldn't accept defeat against them, which is clearly a denial coming from her childish behavior. So this animation holds a lot more deeper meaning when you know everything that is hidden behind the charcter's sentences and actions.

but seriously, happy ending is so rare that I believed a twist would happen and it was all a joke
And then you experience GGZ....which is despair.
I'm glad that Honkai Impact is the diluted version of their previous game.
Rare? With the exception of Chapter 9 and 17 (which isn't happy but I don't know how much I'd want to call it "sad" over "bittersweet") every other arc ending chapter up to this point had happy endings. Kiana saving Arc City, Bronya becoming HoR and going to save Seele and Welt, Seele being saved and returning for Bronya when they were about to be separated are all happy endings.
Chapter 9 really did a mindscrew on people. While not framed as a happy-go-lucky, relaxed story HI3 is ultimately a story about hope and triumph over despair and it does very much reinforce that. It barely has actually sad endings and while there are stories within that end sadly in-universe (for example Ana and Owl's or Wendy's), most arcs have either happy or at least bittersweet conclusions.

- They fail to save wendy and she dies
- They fail to save kiana and ahe bacame a herrscher with himeko having to sacrifice herself
- they fail to stop kevin from escaping SoQ ans taking the gem of desire
- Kiana save arc city by destroying herself and got taken by durandal
- mei fails to save Kiana and join World Serpent and Kiana fail to stop her
- Ana and Owl
The majority of the arc they have a goal that they want to achieve and they fail, or because they lacked something or because a third party screwed then or because they simple couldnt achieve it in the first place
Look how many times Mei is close to achieve what she want just to lost in the last moment
Bronya lost allmost every fight since she become a herrscher
