@@aussiexploration hey , thanks for your vid, it was awesome, but very sad. There is a very good vid about the Syd speedway debacle from sprint car hub. Just makes me wonder what the end game is? Thanks again for the risk you took. Cheers.
I remember seeing the Syd one a few years ago when people were exploring it, but didn't connect the dots between that and this one. Sounds like there's a pretty dedicated, passionate fanbase for it. Hopefully you guys can hassle them enough into building state of the art replacements, but know how long these sort of things can take.
@@aussiexploration So let me explain. When the old track was closed the government built a new track at Eastern Creek. The Kelly's won the bid to be the promoters of that track when it opened. Anyway 3 weeks ago, the Kellys walked away, and the whole 23/24 season has been cancelled. It depends who you talk too regarding what went wrong. The track had some design issues, but there are claims the Kellys were clueless on how to run and promote the place.
Australian government: “take it to the track, not public roads…” Also the Australian government: “yeah we are just going to shut down all the racetracks…”
Oh dude that’s sick! It looks so desolate too. I hope that they build another racetrack on top of it but I wouldn’t be surprised if the developers just build some crappy apartments over it.
First time exploring anything like this, something different. Was super weird watching all the before footage, then just seeing it like this. Haven't been able to find what they're doing with it yet, but it's right amongst a big industrial area so think they'll lean towards that. Speedway QLD is pushing for the government to build a replacement, but only time will tell.
So, no speedway in Sydney, and now no speedway in Brisbane, thats just fucking awesome.
Strangely the same people were managing both
Didn't know that, cheers Glen!

I love the way they "blame" rising land values.

Very sad as there is nothing better than Speedway racing
Sad times for Qld motor sports 🧐
That car park behind the bottle shop is the pits were the racers parked there cars and race cars in between races
can you do Speedway City, it is in Adelaide it was the replacement of Rowley park
Wasn't aware of that one. Never been to SA before, but on the bucket list.
what about sydney's eastern creek speedway
