I agree with Steve. The best thing about Maelstrom was that it was low-key. There was hardly ever a wait, so I could ride it easily. It was like the People Mover, or the boat ride in Mexico. Yes, Frozen is "better", but I almost never ride it because I'm not waiting in line, and I can't get a FastPass.

  • @abbytarpey

Pooh may not be considered a better ride for you, but it creates more revenue than Mr. Toad would based on merchandise, movies, and Crystal Palace. Mr. Toad also is not a world wide known IP like the princesses, fab 5, Pooh, etc. I think most children/ families would prefer "heffalumps" over Hell as you said.

I think people forget the second version of imagination. Almost the same ride as it is now but with no figment. There was such backlash against removing him they had to close the ride after being only open for a year or two and put that patched together version we have now. For those who don’t get figment, it’s because you never saw him in the attraction he was designed to be in.

100% agree on Soarin' Over the World, especially the heavy use of CGI. The entire Taj Mahal scene looked fake. Every single thing in that scene screamed render. I didn't mind the polar bears, and the elephants were ok I guess, but if you have to render the entire scene what's the point? With the original Soarin' I felt like I was there, but with the new one I feel like I'm watching a movie. And I don't need to go all the way to Disney to watch a movie.

It is so cathartic to hear you all talking about Soarin'; it felt like I was the only person who thought this. I live in So Cal, so I would go to Soarin' in California Adventure - it made sense that it was about California. I really do miss it being about California, with actual film, no crappy CGI or curved mountains or towers, not having to ask to sit in Concourse B to get decent seats, and no overwhelming smells of dirt or cloying jasmine (where's the citrus, the pine?)... that's one ride I would change back in a heartbeat if I could.

This is some great subject matter. I agree with Charles. The reason Epcot is my wife's and my favorite park is its uniqueness. The concept for "Frozen" is fine, but not for Epcot. MK or HS. NOT EPCOT! I just fear that the warp speed that Disney is blindly throwing IP around the parks is that it might change Epcot to just "another" Disney park. The IP is fine, just make its placement and use make sense. And, as one poster said, I disagreed with everything Sawn said, lol. No big deal, just disagreed. Yes, "Frozen" brings people to the Norway pavilion. Yes it thins the crowds at other attractions. BUT, still, you can accomplish that by making the IP and non-IP attractions pertinent to the pavilion, Land, or section of whatever area/park it's being added to.........I totally agree that Sorin' Over CA is MUCH better than Sorin' Over the World. Not because it's CA, but because the video/3D in the World version is horrid. Cheap, crappy, and distorted. I would've loved to have seen Sorin' Over America. smh........I love the Winnie the Pooh ride, but Mr. Toad was better. I agree. I would like to see BOTH attractions at Fantacyland, not one there at the expense of the other. Charles' assessment was great and I wholeheartedly agree with him........GREAT show! I really loved this episode. I look forward to the attractions that were bad a made better.

starting area. It’s got a loop of a totem pole with a roaring fire in front of it inside of a room with wooded benches on an observation deck (that’s the actual ride part that moves) surrounded by UV paintings that create a night sky setting and to top it off, an animatronic owl and raccoon. My first time at WDW I was eight I didn't go on alien encounter but my cousin did and all I remember when she came out she was crying her eyes out. My aunt felt so bad saying it was to scary for kids. Now that I'm older I wish I could experience the ride. I only went on stitches great escape once and idk if im the only one but that burp in your face part was so disgusting I felt so nauseous after the attraction and really thought I was going to vomit because I was dry heaving for I don't know how many minutes once we got off that attraction. There was also other members in my party who felt sick after the burg parts after we got off the ride as well. So glad its seasonal needs to go away permanently.

Hmm, I wonder if that's why some people don't miss maelstrom. Every time I went on that ride, I had to stand in line for 45mins+ and the ride totally wasn't worth that. Now, if it had been a walk on.......

Ok, road Mr. TOAD's Wild Ride in Disneyland at age 8. Thought it was fantastic and thrilling. And those ride vehicles, bring it back to WDW.

Not a fan of Sean. His opinions are that of a high school kid, especially compared to Pete & Steve. No depth, maturity, or any real insight came out of his mouth.
    Bring back Dustin!

I wouldn't even say high school. More like an 8 year old.

Which is especially egregious when you compare him to Charles' sheer eloquence and finnese at exposition. His opinions are incredibly thoughtful and properly substantiated.

Mr. Toad was awesome. Who do we have to beg and bribe to build a new one somewhere in any of the Disney World parks? Any one of them will do for me.

There are actually a lot of historical aspects of Norway in Frozen.

Kathy is screaming right now. "two tiny wings, eyes big and yellow, horns of a steer, but a lovable fellow! From head to tail, he's royal purple pigment, and there, voilà! You've got a Figment!" .

    For those impatient people:
Extra Terrestrial Alien Encounter to Stitches Great Escape
    Journey Into Imagination
    Maelstrom to Frozen Ever After
Soarin’ Over California to Soarin’ Around the World
Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

  • @ryanb8903
    @ryanb8903 6 лет назад

Probably the very end seat of row 3 is the worst. You get the horrible bend and you aren’t anywhere near the screen. I don’t remember this happening on Soarin over California at all.

I must have even worse eye-sight than I thought. I honestly cannot tell when it's CGI and when it's not. Not just in Soarin' but in movies as well. I can't speak to the "leaning" I've lucked out and been in the middle section.

Horizons turning into Mission Space. Maybe an update was needed, but that Mission Space crap was outdated the day it opened. Still despise that ride to this day, although I'm admittedly curious to try both of the new versions.

So long as Figment remains a thing in any Inside Out adjustment to the Imagination Pavilion, I'm down with it. I think the characters, and Figment, would mesh well and help keep the character alive.

if only disney tried as hard on all their rides as they did on the frozen one then maybe they wouldn’t have to change things so often

I agree with your list but I want to add one more thing: Tom Sawyer's Island. The original format was so much more interactive and fun. We want the fort back, and teetering rock and the tree house and Injun Joe's caves. We would spend a whole day there. It was a great place for kids to actually play.

Disney has so much space there, I can't believe they would take out Mr. Toad for Pooh and not just add Pooh to an expanded area. Disneyland is land locked and has to use every inch wisely, which is why they bought up surrounding lots around town for parking so they could use their old parking lot to build another theme park. But in Florida why redo perfectly good, much beloved attractions and add on somewhere else instead? A dark ride doesn't take that much space...it's not Splash Mountain or something.

Am I the only one that didn't dislike Stitch's Great Escape? I get that it's not really good, but I find it Okay. Not horrible as many other people find it.

Wasn’t great, but wasn’t the worst thing ever. More importantly, it was really the same attraction as alien encounter, just a family friendly version of it.

I liked it a lot when I was younger but at some point it felt like the restraints changed and became stronger. I almost cried once because they were really pushing down on my shoulders and didn't feel like they were going to stop. Since then I've been really turned off to the ride :/

Mr toads wild ride and snow white were the most vivid memories of my first trip to disney world at 5 years old. These two rides are what made me a disney fanatic! Also Snow whites scary adventure > 7 dwarves mine train.

Sean is highly entertaining even though some of the stuff he says bring out the "what" factor in his cohosts. He's very childlike and it's quite endearing
