Bought my girlfriend a second hand Liv full suspension for Christmas......took her to Cannock a couple of times. Crashed into a tree at forest of dean. Let her loose on her bike on some local trails. Then we did a holiday to saalbach and got her down the Z line! Then Switzerland we did the Gornergrat classic.....but with plenty of walking! Then ordered herself an e bike before heading to bike park wales! Did try and get her on reds, since she was smashing them in Europe but still had to learn her new bike but she loved the blues! Just 8 months to turn her into a mountain biker!
I tried my hand at Whistler Blues for the first time after doing pretty much only German Reds before. The Whistler stuff was A LOT bigger, chunkier and steeper. It was definitely a case of "check your line, progress slow and steady and don't be ashamed to walk stuff". ALso it taught me that my jumping skills SUCK
@@stug45 Good job! I tried to do it. I think getting them out on their own, or even better with similar skilled newer riders is key. Otherwise its intimidating always riding with someone much more experienced-faster all the time. Never bothered me I could ride fast on my own or with friends, or I would just say I'll meet you at the bottom because I want to do this one trail fast. But it bothered the ex, expressed that she was always holding me back often.
My first real (e)MTB exp was in Bedgebury, the red trail. Though a few tricky parts, it was unbelievable fun. Looking forward to IoW in summer 24. Pushing my ole bum a bit out of its comfort zone.
"Wenn you go slow, you lose your speed" - Blake, you are a genious 😁 Very nice work, Jen. I enjoyed the episodes in the past a lot showing your progress and how you start to feel more confident on the bike. Love your "humble" and down to earth way
Jen has the wrong bike. If she's going to run straight over stumps, she needs a Stumpjumper. 😆 Good job to Jen, and both of you. This is a nice calm paced video. Everyone has a place to start and learn.
Blake is a true gift to the mtb world. what a level headed, amazing, talented, treat. When you have a true talent, it's hard sometimes to want to share it with anyone... let alone the whole of youtube. From a beginner mtber. Thank you Blake, for all that you're willing to teach and the content that you and GMBN put out for all of us to enjoy and absorb. An absolute gift. Thank you.
Thank you, and please warmly thank Jen for taking part in this. It's really interesting, because it makes you work on explaining to your wife (and of course to us) how to deal with those difficulties. In the other videos, you speed through things that may appear as obvious to you, or don't even notice it's something others could struggle on. Big thanks to you again, and to Jen for having the courage to be the subject of a video on a big YT channel.
It was great to see Jen again. She is such a great sport. Plus it is good for beginners to watch another beginner learn from a pro. More of Jen, please.
Loved this! As many have said, a great combo of Blakes infectious enthusiasm and Jens quiet but "give it a go" attitude. Well done Jen (and Blake 😉). Looking forward to seeing more!!
Go Jen! I’m also married to a mountain biker (he was even featured on an episode of Blake reacting to fails and bails 🤣) and have learned a lot from riding with him. Love the team work and respect shown to each other!
All kudo's to Jen. Blake will smile so wide when his kids try MTB'ing he won't be able to see past his teeth reflection. I did enjoy the video, reminded me of coaching my wife in alpine skiing.
This video really hits home as my wife has very recently started riding with me. She gets frustrated but she's getting better every time out, she's actually great with obstacles, good with climbing and skinnies, but tight downhill switchbacks are her Kryptonite right now and she's slowly working on it. I pick out the trails for her I think will help her with her skills, now that I'm teaching a novice I think a color rating system here in the US should include light green, dark green, light blue, and dark blue.
I love you loads Blake but last night, watching Jen and you together was too much, it was just too painful. Your Jen is the perfect embodiment of my Sharon, my late wife, who I lost more than ten years ago to breast cancer., It’s taken that time for me to find some kind of equilibrium but last night, watching you and Jen tackle the trails, it all came flooding back, all the emotions, all of the heartache, all of the pain, so I had to turn you off and retire to my bed in tears., if this is some kind of revenge for all of the other times you have made me laugh out loud, then you’ve taken more than your pound of flesh out of my heart. You and Jen stomped all over it! Promise me that you’ll never let Jen go and we will be even.
Im still new myself. Done a few local blue trails but watching people online such as Blake, Sam pilgrim and whoever else it may be just push me to get better. Can’t wait for the day I can fully send it ❤
They say opposites attract and Blake and Jen come across as polar opposites, I'd love to hear how they met. Jen is so adorable and Blake...is in the video too ;- ). It's great to see Jen's progression I hope she agrees to do more (babysitter allowing) in the future. I'm loving the range of videos GMBN puts out from testicle-shrinking stuff at Swatch Nines one day to beginner skills and progression the next. Thanks GMBN and Jen!
Great video! I learn so much from watching a beginner like myself tackle various trail features. Jen is riding at a slower speed, like I would. Being able to see what happens at lower speed, or if you panic and lock the brakes, gives me a clearer idea of what to expect, and how to improve. It also helps me to see more of what is happening when watching a pro.
I love this video series. I am a beginner and i just went to a bike park, and the whole time I was thinking of how brave Jen is, and it inspired me to get out of my comfort zone and try things
I just bought my wife a Kona process and am going to go through this same process with her and I’m so excited! Love to see this type of video. Y’all are too cute!
Well done Jen ! And well done too Blake for being such a patient and kind teacher. I taught my partner to ride as well and over the years she has now gone from being barely able to ride on flat footpaths to being an absolute shredder on the trails !
With all due respect your wife is charming, Blake, and she nailed the trail wonderfully! Your couching was excellent too; so clear and empathic. Please, more videos of you and Jen!
Oh my gosh, Jen is as cute as I thought Blake's wife would be! Huge congrat's, Jen! If only I'd had a good coach like Blake, it wouldn't have taken me years to get comfortable on intermediate trails. Bravo!!
Love the videos with Jen! I’m a beginner and this is pretty sweet to see her improving so much, well done Jen! It’s super nice to get awesome advices that apply to a beginner, thanks Blake for making these videos!
I loved every wholesome, authentic, inspirational bit of this!! Well done, Jen! And well done, coach Blake! Now to show this video to my wife and convince her to go on a date with me like this 🙂
First off, congratulations on your new child! I sincerely wish health on you all. Secondly, a family that rides together, stays together; what you are your wife are doing are wonderful moments. I love learning along with Jen. Thanks for your patience, Blake. (Can't wait to see the little Blake/Jen hybrids on their bikes!)
You two together are so incredibly great and sweet! Glad you have each other and Jen is trying her hand at MtB riding and clearly having fun! Have a great time!
What a sweetheart, not Blake - Jen ! How is the difference in confidence from her first trail ride, well done girl and keep it going Blake. Half the fun of trial riding is the learning curve and concerning all the little features to put a run together. Great viewing.
Well done Jen. Great teaching moments. It's nice to see you progressing so well! You have the confidence and skills you need to continue riding better ( Plus having a great teacher can't hurt either!). Just relax and enjoy the trails! I too look around and take in the sites when I ride. That's what it is all about. Enjoying your surroundings. Can't wait to see more of you and Blake. I'm a fan of both of you!
Love this! Great vid! good on you both. It's nice to be reminded that not every trail ride needs to be all out, sometimes just a nice ride that happens to be off road is what the doctor ordered.
This is so exciting to see! It shows me I CAN do it! And I love seeing the struggles she’s facing it’s all the same stuff I do! But I don’t have the teacher to help. So, it’s awesome to see her nerves and the “I’ll try” which is what I say for all my sports. “I’ll try” until I get it darn it!
Its so fun to see you couple hit the trails together. I was smiling the whole video! Good job Jen! And Blake, I like the way you taught and gave Jen a confidence boost! I wish I can do the same for my wife (if I ever get her to mountain biking. Haha!) 🤣 Cheers!
13:54 it feels really big but looks really small. HAHAHAHA GOLD!!!! i'll grow up soon. but this is an awesome video. definitely want to see more of jen. one of the best from gmbn
Have you progressed on to red trails yet? If so, what did you find the hardest part to learn on them? Share your experiences with the community below! 👇
Red was just a bit more chunky. I found the increased technical demands difficult to start and the trails definitely need a scope out first.
Bought my girlfriend a second hand Liv full suspension for Christmas......took her to Cannock a couple of times. Crashed into a tree at forest of dean. Let her loose on her bike on some local trails. I love the dichotomy between Blake and Jen. Blake is loud and boisterous while Jen is calm and quiet. Cudos to Jen for trying and succeeding!
They make a wonderful couple and team together.
The joy on your face watching your wife challenge herself , made me smile jump for her success
Good to see beginner /basic stuff on here ,not just clearing 30ft gap jumps!
Well done Jen, you couldn't ask for a better teacher. Congratulations on your second kiddy, years of fun.
We need more of Jen and Blake! It was a fantastic video for not only beginners but anyone who rides as every day is a learning day.
Yeah, Jen is back!
As a beginner myself, i was shouting "yes", all the time. Great job Jen!
They are like the perfect match : The energetic and happy Blake + the calm and peaceful Jen... She has a warm voice.
Because these are the best GMBN vids ever. Blake n' Jen. What GMBN is all about. Fam.
"Wenn you go slow, you lose your speed" - Blake, you are a genious 😁
Very nice work, Jen. I enjoyed the episodes in the past a lot showing your progress and how you start to feel more confident on the bike. Love your "humble" and down to earth way

Well said.

I need to show this series to my wife. She rides with me now and again, and it makes me so happy when she does. Wish I could get her more into it.
As a complete noob, this is the best one I have seen in a while. Thank you!
It's so good to see you two again! Jen is such a joy! And you Blake, as usual, so caring 🥰❤
Loved this! As many have said, a great combo of Blakes infectious enthusiasm and Jens quiet but "give it a go" attitude. Well done Jen (and Blake 😉). Looking forward to seeing more!!

The best MTB videos! Really hoping you guys make some more with Blake and Jenna!
Yes! A GMBN video at my local mtb centre!… and Blake’s!
All kudo's to Jen. Blake will smile so wide when his kids try MTB'ing he won't be able to see past his teeth reflection. I did enjoy the video, reminded me of coaching my wife in alpine skiing.
I feel the same, man. Whenever I see my S.O., who I got to MTBing months ago, overcome a climb. I'm always more excited than she does.
I love watching Blake and Jen ride together, makes me smile. Now I'd like to see a girls ride with Jen and Anna! 🚲
Your wife is delightful! What a great attitude.
I absolutely love watching these and learning with Jenn. Rooting for her the whole time. Love her attitude and your vibe together.
Impressive sound effect produced by Jen as she was smashing those berms, drops and roll-overs!
Jen, you did so well! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I‘d love to see you in more videos!
Blake, you also did a great job at supporting Jen!
The best part of this video is both people having a blast.

This was a great video! Really fun to watch Jen do so well and Blake being Blake. The best presenter on GMBN.
I absolutely love watching these videos with Jen & Blake… you should definitely make more of them

Jen nails it!! Great video. Blake is a great teacher and inspirational leader. What a great feel good segment.
Im still new myself. Done a few local blue trails but watching people online such as Blake, Sam pilgrim and whoever else it may be just push me to get better. Can’t wait for the day I can fully send it ❤
Well done Jen. We are all proud of you 😊

Finally, Jen the brave is back! 😃 She made great progress and with Blake as a teacher it is always a pleasure to watch. Thank you! 😄

I loved every wholesome, authentic, inspirational bit of this!! Well done, Jen! And well done, coach Blake! Now to show this video to my wife and convince her to go on a date with me like this 🙂

Well done jen you've got one of the best to teach you . Well done blake
Nice work Jen, you shred those trails at the Isle of Wight Mountain Bike Centre better than I do 😜
Love this! Great vid! good on you both. It's nice to be reminded that not every trail ride needs to be all out, sometimes just a nice ride that happens to be off road is what the doctor ordered.
I think jen is just awesome. . Would love to see more jen videos
More of Jen please 👍🏻
I needed a smile today!!! Great job. Just the other day, I was wondering when you and your wife were going to be back on the trail!!😋😋
