Diesel Traction returns with Lucknow AC Double Decker Express. New livery Twin WDP-4Bs mark the return of Diesel power for Lucknow AC Double Decker Express making it the only Double decker express of India to be hauled by Diesel traction!
Reason for Diesel traction.
With rapid electrification, a lot of routes have started using Electric locomotives making many failry new Diesel locomotives without any mainline work. Therefore, Railways has switched traction of few short distance trains to continue usage of the fairly new Diesel locomotives!

Any specific reason for the return of Diesel Locos in both Double Decker and AC Superfast Express? Earlier their logic was that we are using Electric locos with HOG to minimize use of Diesel to save fuel costs. What’s with the sudden change of locos, that too twin MUed Diesel ones?

Abhi tak to Lucknow AC Express or Lucknow AC Double Decker Express
In the LKO division of NR, Prayagraj Sangam bound Ganga - Gomti Express and Ayodhya Cantt Passenger are running with the diesel link.
In CR, Mahalaxmi Express bound to Kolhapur, Siddheshwari Express bound to Solapur and Solapur - Pune Intercity Express are back with the diesel link.
In KR, Mandovi Express is back with the diesel link after having got E loco for quite a few months.
