As a photographer I have used Photoshop for years but never needed Vector masks until now. Massive thanks for explaining...and forever it's Wector masks for me...just subscribed as well.
I never knew the difference between both masks. And yesterday when I was practicing one of your videos on compositing, I was having trouble trimming edges after using the pen tool. Every bit of this video was extremely helpful. Thank you. I want to be like you, Nemanja 😎
Why you have everything so well in order, even your messes are built on vectors: 2:27 (Could just be my hearphones though) :) Happy new years everyone.
Thanks Nemanja - well explained. I've never been an avid user of vector masks, but that was simply because I didn't understand their real purpose. Now I do!🙏
Excellent! I didn't know you could make a regular mask into a vector mask! I have someone who wants vector masks, and I keep putting them off because of the time it takes to create, now I don't have to. Cheers Nemanja.
This is my first time enjoying your RUclips channel. Great work! I’m looking forward to more great content from you. Thank you so much for this informative video! I got so much out of it.
what if I want to add some grunge effect on the edge of the vector mask, like an imperfection effect but that doesn't affect the actual mask but does appear only as an effect, is it possible?
How can you resize an individual butterfly mask shape when there are multiple shapes in one mask? They used to have the transform controls when you selected it with the path selection tool but for some stupid reason they got rid of it. This has been driving me nuts for years.
I copied the layer (ctrl+C) and pasted it to another document. but I only see a line (just like the path) on the new document, not an image. I think I copied the path only. I am using PS CS6. Can you help me ?
Thank you. I've got a problem, though: When I draw an object, like a circle or rounded-corner rectangle, it shows up in its separate layer rather than on the same layer you're working on. And the file does have several layers, so flattening the image may not be practical. Do you have a video on how to handle this issue?
very helpful but maybe you can show us how to substract, combine, intersect, exclude one path from another, useful if you want to make separate selections on the same item.
Hi Nemanja, thank you for your tutorials! I have to admit it, I still have problems understanding the main purpose of vector masks; when I create a path with the pen tool I can make a regular layer mask out of it, so what is the advantage of using vector masks instead? It's driving me crazy XD
You're welcome. They are almost the same. Same purpose. The difference is that if you like to use a pen tool to make a selection of your object, you can always edit your path any time later. If you find yourself in a situation that you need to do it. It is always good to know more.
Nemanja i know you made video of *fire effect* but can you make tutorial how to make ghost rider effect: burning face, burning suit, burning road u know what i try to say.So.... *Can You make tutorial for this please?*

Hi Nemanja I have onefurther question. How is it best to save the file with a Vector mask to send to a printer or art director. Thanks again.
The PSD file works just fine for that. For all the layers and masks.
Brilliant.
Thanks Brian!
Thanks
You're welcome.
That's so weird, I looked it up the other day because I didn't know what the second mask was all about. Thank you.
You're very welcome 😊 Now you know!

Wery wersatile wector mask tutorial...
For beginner: Make sure you change the upper left selection to Path instead of shape to do this.
Coild you do effect in ps like the time is stopped/freezed? :) that would be awesome..i cannot find it anywhere on the internet

Vector based object will be always drawn on a separate layer.
how cut somthing by taking another shape layer ?
Can one edit the scale of the shape coffee mug (butterfly) - i.e. Transform tool ?
Andy chance to get a Vector mask from an imported Adobe Illustrator Smart Object?
I never tried it. If you can, try it and let me know.
very helpful but maybe you can show us how to substract, combine, intersect, exclude one path from another, useful if you want to make separate selections on the same item.

For that go and watch my tutorial on shape tool.
Ok, thank !
You're welcome.
Why is my 'vector mask' option grayed out? i cant click it. pls help..
After selecting the Shape or Pen tool, make sure Path is selected on the toolbar the top.
You really try to fight perfectionism on this 😅
What if I want to hide what's inside the shape and leave everything else? How can I do that?
Hello, Nemanja Sekulic Shifu~Could you make a tutorial about how to use PS to make an ancient map?
Do you have some example for that?
Like the lord of the rings, the map of the middle-earth, the old dusty blurry map or photo... maybe i just need to learn how to draw a map...
That is a lot of driving... I'm more photography oriented.
@@NemanjaSekulic Oh I see. maybe you can make the map become an old one?
jel moze jedan tutorial kako iz jpeg napraviti vector?? :) hvala unapred
Ne radim takve stvari. Vise vezano za fotografiju.
I tried but when I click on Layer Mask the mask is inverted. Is like in your tutorial the background remain and the cup has disappear. Help please!
Hola Nemanja, Where can I get more shapes?
Try to search them online, or just trace with a pen tool over some silhouette.
Hi Nemanja, thank you for your tutorials! I have to admit it, I still have problems understanding the main purpose of vector masks; when I create a path with the pen tool I can make a regular layer mask out of it, so what is the advantage of using vector masks instead? It's driving me crazy XD
